I have been obese for most of my life, but I finally lost about 75lb. thanks in part to you, Dr. Becky. Now I have only about 20lb. to go and it's killing me. I crave sugar again like I did before I started this journey, and I can't shake it. On April the first (April Fools Day), I will start the 40 day challenge. Wish me luck, folks. It's now or never.

I am 47, and have 2 kids and a full time job. I have given up on restrictive diets, and try to eat mostly wholesome food, but I stopped excluding sugars. When I was restricting myself, i would end up overeating things I did not even want. Now I can eat a piece of cookie or a bite of cake, then my cravings stop, and I don't overeat. I also started fasting once a week, and I feel great.

I am in my 60s and I have lost my taste for chocolate. I have NO idea when it happened..I just no longer want it. A few weeks ago I craved frosted flakes with cold milk although I am lactose intolerant. I bought a small box of the cereal and had a bowl each day for 1 week. Since then I have absolutely no desire for anything even remotely like cereal. I cook my own food as I have stomach issues when I eat out. When youbweigh the pros and cons of eating certain food..the wise choice is always what is best for you. I live in the Caribbean so fresh food and produce is always easily available. This makes eating healthy choices a lot easier for me. Thank you Dr Becky for keeping inspiring us❤

Great ideas! Some things that have helped me overcome sugar cravings 1) Dr's Best Magnesium Glycinate (the capsules not tablets). I've always taken Magnesium to help me sleep and for heart health but when I switched to this type it really muted sugar cravings. It takes awhile, but it works. 2) Amino acids. The Cravings Cure by Julia Ross has great information about various types of cravings and many different Aminos. For instance, L Glutamine will stop sugar cravings in minutes. And you only need to take aminos until your cravings are in control. I love Dr. Becky's channel and her wonderful advice on how to eat, but if you want a little help getting there, Magnesium and Aminos can help you. My thought is that in addition to eating more processed food the soil even healthy whole foods are grown in may be depleted in mineral sometimes. Thanks to Dr. Becky I'm eating better.

As a kid, my mom would feed us well on Sundays but the rest of the week we ate pizza and burgers. Breakfast was quick but always had some form of sugar. I’m the sickest of all the kids because I was the only one that became addicted to sugar as a tot. My mom said I was the only one that really liked it so she gave it to me!!! Thanks mom. Her diet was beer and cigarettes and lived on drugs after the age of 60. She was a ovarian cancer survivor. Died at 81 from that liver disease. My dad died at 61 from lung cancer. I suffer so much with digestion issues without my gall bladder. I overdosed on fats from bacon this past week and am paying for it. Sugar addiction is low. Feels more like something I put in my mouth because it is quick. Substituting it with FROOZE BALLS is better than the sugar itself. Also a handful of seeds after a meal keeps that void of snacking filled. It is more about anxiety with trying to relax after a meal that you think you need to fill the belly.

Well. In my past I have had periods of drug use, nothing serious but I have used cocaine, marijuana, smoked cigarettes and consumed alcohol (which is absolutely a drug). I've never had a sweet tooth, but junk food like McDonalds and Pizza is exactly the same for me as the drug binges used to be. Not similar, EXACTLY the same. I can feel satisfaction from good, whole food like steak, fruit and veg and the satisfaction 'feels' like nourishment. But I can also feel satisfaction from ordering a pizza (which I still do, rarely) and the anticipation and consumption is the same as using a drug. I would also add that if I eat something like McDonalds (again, I still do occasionally) I can observe just how quickly I shovel it down and immediately want more. When I eat whole foods, I enjoy them, eat slowly (normally) and don't feel the need for more. I don't think people realise just how addictive junk food is on a literal level.

In the US is impossible to eat healthy. There is so much emphases on sugar but reality is that sugar is nothing compared to the conservatives, the chemicals, the artificial additives added to everything sold here. I eat very little processed food but the unprocessed food sod here is not less questionable than the processed one. Frozen fruits and vegetables coming from all parts of the world (usually where they can use pesticides so they are cheeper) often picked up way to early then frozen. Food pastorized that kills the few good nutrients left. Dr. Becky your best service to this country is to urge people to eat less but the rest I'm afraid is just delusion thinking. In the US there is no access to health food. Even the seeds you buy to grow your vegetables are modified!
