It’s criminal that Kasey Chambers doesn’t have more views of this on her channel. The creativity it took for her to imagine this song in this way, arguably one of the greatest rap songs EVER, and to actually to infuse it with even more emotional depth, and to showcase the brilliance of Em’s lyrics, we’ll…I just think it’s amazing.

Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend: the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, a dozen albums and has more than 30 ARIA Awards (the AU Grammy's). She is beloved but is ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her brother is backing vocals and her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style. She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. She is now 48 years old and a mother of three. This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.

This was an intimate concert, in front of 1400 plus fans in a Civic Theatre. Kasey has face trials and tribulations in her life, both personal and professional; l saw the way her emotion made you feel, it was raw and naked through the soul. Kasey is an exceptional talent, and a lot of her songs reflect her life through the passage of time.

Yes, they were dumbstruck as it was a departure from her usual music. They were also in a tiered theatre where you couldn't stand up and move around during a performance for safety reasons. Their reaction at the end tells you how much they were blown away by her performance.

Lose Yourself is a song in 2 parts. The 1st part is like a 3rd person describing what the performer is going through and the second is the performers view. " vomit on HIS shirt.." 3rd person view. "I'M in pain inside" Performer's view. Kasey saw it, divided the song in half and went to brilliant land.

Kasey Chambers is an accomplished Australian country singer-songwriter, who has won many awards and accolades since going solo in 1998; she commenced performing in Dead Ringer Band, a family group which included her father(Bill), mother(Diane) and brother(Nash). During the lockdown for Covid, Kasey reworked Eminem's rap song into her own song; the emotion she puts into the performance created such a difference between the original and her version, which she received permission to upload this performance to Spotify in it's own right.

Kasey made that her own, she blew it out of the ball park. Check out John Farnham, Help with the MSO (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) if you want to see another great Aussie legend. Even John Lennon praised this version of his song and said it was how the Beatles should have done it.

As others have commented, Kasey's concert was at a theatre. Keep in mind she's a country musician, and this is a rap song, that you wouldn't really expect a frenzied stadium mosh-pit response from her audience (plus I have read that as they were professionally recording it, that they requested a more muted response). But she puts everything into the performance. His words, their story, her way. Brilliant!

It was performed in an old Theater, so narrow chairs at a steep angle, plus they were informed that they would be recording this song before it started and to keep the noise to a minimum if they could. They, however, did not video it, so once they realised what a special recording it was, they put the call out for any audience phone cam and this video was made from that. Kasey is one of Australia's top Country/Bluegrass artist, youngest person ever inducted into the Australia Record Industry's Hall of Fame, and has a dozen albums to her credit. She normally sings country/bluegrass/southern rock, but occasionally skips out into other genres.

If you are looking for other songs, maybe the following (this is the order they were recorded in, to show her development): As with most Australian artists, live performances will usually be better. 'Not pretty Enough' (2001) Kasey had started to get success through her first album, but the Australian radio stations were refusing to play her songs. This song was written out of that situation. She called it the song that defined her life. 2001 ARIA Awards (Australian Record Industry Association) duet with Keith Urban kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoSwm5xrrt6VjLs My personal fav, 'Nullarbor Song (Live)' (2001). This shows her ability to share her emotions with her audience. In this case, homesickness. Kasey grew up camping with her family on the Nullarbor Plains (an area of about 100,000 km2 across the bottom of Australia. It has a full-time population of less than 100 in total. Her dad was a professional fox hunter during this period (he was playing the steel slide guitar on the video you watched). Nullarbor is based on Latin - Null (no) Arbor (tree) and reflects that there are almost no trees in this large area (about the size of Kentucky). kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqqTfaawo71ob6M This song took over from Not Pretty Enough as the song that defined her life. She calls it the song that is the 'glue' that holds her life together. 'Aint no Little Girl' (2017) is a song to some sh*t who p*ssed her off. People should know never to do that to singer/songwriters. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZa6q4t_oKZriMk

1st, thanks for reacting to all of these.......While some Rap 'Purists' may not like this, Kasey's emotional, heart-felt performance is stunning.......sung from a female perspective, she takes Eminem's words and makes them her own.......artists do covers (1) to pay respect to the original and (2) interpret that song personally.....Kasey does both and "leaves it all on the stage" ...............

Raw unadulterated Brilliance! I was totally blown away when I first “experienced” this Phenomenal performance, amazing arrangement & pure to the emotional interpretation of Em’s masterpiece - just legendary!! Em gave her his permission (or the owner to the rights of the song) to release on Spotify, that says it all 👏👏👏 She is aged 46 at the time of this performance 2022. I’ve always been a fan of Kasey, she is a freakin amazing & talented musician, artist & woman. But this was next level genius & so personal for her. She has lived every second of this story’s soul through her own life’s journey. The performance wasn’t filmed, she put a post out after the show to fans present to please send in any footage, the compilation of which you see. The band killed it, matching & building with her energy brilliantly. Long time band member Brandon (I think 🤔) on guitar & the vocals that nurtured the momentum & her dad on slide guitar making it sing like a phoenix - all of them together made this one of the all time best live, for me a rebirth, not a cover, that I’ve ever heard, seen & felt….to my core. Great reaction U Scott “Hold my fuckin beer” indeed 😊😊 Lots of Love from Tasmania Aus 👍🏻👏🇦🇺❤️ Would love to see Tym’s reaction to this one 😊

@roddow612 he can have a whole sentence. Steve doesn't have Farnhams power. Farnham can belt through his whole range. He has the same agility as Perry but more versality than Perry because he can slide at will through gravel, open belts and head voice. Farnham has a warmth at all levels of his range. Perry starts to sound thin and weedy. He just has more exposure than Farnham.

@Cyannah1173 ай бұрын
Agree with the lip syncing… you only need to look at any artists throats and diaphragms to tell if they are singing live or not. Pentatonix (all member iterations) are phenomenally awesome though, live or not!! As far as I know, songs do not become public domain, i.e. out of copywrite, until 50 years past the songwriters/composers death, so I’d guess that as Simon is still with us, that anyone who records The Sound of Silence would still have to pay the copywrite fee. Marcelito is a phenomenon in himself..his vocals are insane, however, as great as this version is, you really need to check out his live performances on Phillipines Got Talent and America’s Got Talent… and that will answer your question of whether he can sing Beauty and The Beast by himself or not…. 😉😂 BUT, but, hold the phone… Kasey with Lose Yourself is just absolutely beyond! She doesn’t just top this line up in your reaction but hmmm…sorry Marshall/Eminem, Oscar winning song or not, this song is our Kasey’s now!!! 😂❤We Aussies are so proud of this woman. She has been singing her whole life, first with the family band, then solo. Becoming the youngest ever artist to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Kasey has a great catalog of music you need to react to. Part of the reason that Kasey’s version is so good is that she is a big Eminem fan and because she has lived those lyrics and feels them to her soul!!! Her Dad (Bill) is on slide in this too, and can we just mention Kasey shredding that banjo like a guitar?? Just cannot say how much I love this performance from Kasey! BTW…this was recorded at the Newcastle theatre, a tiered theatre, where the audience was pretty much structured to stay in their seats. The audio was professionally recorded during the performance but the video was a mix of phone recordings from audience members after requests from Kasey’s team to submit recordings taken during the show. ❤❤❤
