brutalmoose actually kind of did Round1 dirty. You really go there for the import cabs - i.e. rhythm and fighting games. The redemption games and crane games are really just icing on the cake. In fact, the people who do advantage play at arcades kind of hate Round1 because the advantage play never works out to be profitable in the same way a D&B or Main Event might. As for *why* Round1 is the only arcade that runs rhythm or fighting games... uh... #FucKonami. That's why. A decade and change ago Konami moved to revenue sharing, where all their arcade cabinets have to be connected to function and the online servers keep track of your revshare payouts. The cabinet will not accept coins or swipes until you have paid an equivalent amount of revshare to Konami. If you don't prepay your revshare, the cabinets lock up and won't boot until you do. SEGA, Namco, and (I *think*) Taito have similar systems. Revshare is industry standard in Japan, while operators everywhere else balked at it. Which means there often isn't actually a US rollout for any of these games, because all the licensed music in these games was paid for out of revshare, and renegotiating all that would be a pain. (D&B convinced Konami to do it for DDR A but pulled out after A20 Plus.) The manufacturers also *will not* allow you to pay revshare on a JP cab that is operating in the US... with one exception, which is Round1, because they're a Japanese company that somehow convinced the manufacturers to let them extend their licensing deals to the US. The US arcade manufacturers (e.g. Raw Thrills) went in the completely opposite direction, focusing almost entirely on racing, shooting, and mobile game ports. They tried rhythm games *once* with Guitar Hero Arcade, and that was that. If you absolutely want to run rhythm games as an indie arcade operator, your options are Pump It Up (because apparently the brain rot in Japan didn't jump over to South Korea), StepManiaX (because Konami's patents over *the entire rhythm game genre* started to expire), old cabs (which is more maintenance and hassle for something fewer players want), or importing new cabs anyway and hacking the software to remove the revshare checks. Which is *hella illegal*.

I don’t know why I didn’t remember you making this arcade video, but my favourite thing about your channel is whenever I go back to check it out again, there’s always something I either want to watch again, or I somehow missed, or am suffering from some weird selective amnesia…. Because some of the videos say I’ve watched them…but where did the memory go…. Im going to see a doctor now

@@plutoum3335 Sorry, I don't know if your comment is supposed to be somewhat sarcastic. Seattle definitely has a homeless problem that definitely detracts from the experience but It's cool to walk around a big city, especially all the old parts and underground. I would likemto see some of the historical parts and some museums. Definitely wouldn't want to live there though. Like I said I have really only been to Seattle a few times for a Mariner's game.

This is actually starting out kinda surreal, yesterday I went to my mall, where there was also a Sears, AND a Round1. 0.o I'm here for it though. That's where all the similarities end though........never been to a 2 story mall, or one as brightly lit. My mall has lots of creepy, shady, dark corners for people to get shot in though.

Went to a round one recently myself, and basically did the _exact_ opposite of what you did here! Was much more focused on the import games, especially the rhythm games, (love me some wacca, so satisfying!) But hey, you're right that the UFO catchers are so much more addictive, you really feel like you're making noticable progress on those little minigames each time.

Oh this was great. I'm a little bit into dead mall stuff and very into arcades so this video checked both those boxes for me. I feel like I would have enjoyed a video solely walking around and commenting on the mall if you felt like making one of those though. I think the best possible Brutalmoose arcade video would be if you got to go to one of those arcades that's been around for decades and the owners took you for a tour of all the different machines plus the areas the average arcadegoer doesn't get to see.

Ticket man is always my go to game when i go to round one, i usually always go with a $100 budget (also have a membership so more credits per price added. It really is worth it even if you dont go often) But since you can time the game usually when i reach $80-$75 i already have 6,000 tickets. Since i only go for the 500 coin or the 200 coins, if i get anything its just more ticket fodder
