I did keto for about 2 - 3 years. I lost the weight and my type 2 diabetes was under control. But, then I suffered with my gall bladder, and had to have it removed. Which apparently happened to many keto dieters. Just be careful, it's not sustainable long term. And a lot of Keto "gurus" have now admitted that we need to include a variety of whole fruits and vegetables in order to have good nutrition.

My college Bestie has had considerable success firming and gaining muscle by incorporating a light pair of hand weights during her walks. Like you, her power walks are about 30min in duration. She says she's made it a point to suck in her stomach and move her arms up and down sometimes while carrying the weights (they're light; about 2 lbs or less) She says she's noticed definition in her arms, and also a much flatter stomach. The topping on the cake, she tells me, is how her bum has also become firmer and perkier...and credits this to the other muscles working while she's making it a point to suck in her stomach during her wails. This is all she does. No weight training. Just FYI for anyone who may be interested. :) You look really lovely. Good on YOU!!

I’ve changed my diet over the last five months. I was diagnosed as pre diabetic and that made me change my diet. No carbs or sugar. I have lost over a stone now but I really don’t want to loose anymore as I was not over weight before the change of diet. I do feel a lot better now. I’ve just found out I no longer pre diabetic so it was worth it. I shall continue with my diet although I do miss certain foods. I now need a new wardrobe 😂😂. ❤

I was taking a statin for 4 years for mildly elevated LDL. Side effects were difficulty controlling weight, muscle weakness and general fogginess. Late April I decided to stop statins, take Metamucil 2-3 times a day, cut out ALl sugars, carbs, processed food, alcohol; started exercising, treadmill on incline, rowing, and weights for upper body, and incidental walking to and from work. I'm 15 lbs down, but now have to go slowly as I don't want to lose more than 5-10 lbs more ( in my 70s one can lose that important padding!) Like you, I feel so much better, clearer, and definitely more confident, maybe knowing I'm doing what I can for my longterm health, and I can wear clothes now that I refused to get rid of!😊☘️

I was able to lose 50 lbs, without giving up milk, a staple food for me, I rarely eat any flesh foods. I had already long since given up all sugar and alcohol. But, what caused my weight loss was giving up most carbs, including all grains and grain products, and root and starchy vegetables like potatoes, corn, peas and beans. I do eat a pint of blueberries every day, berries are lower in sugars than most fruits. I also walked 90 minutes per day, 6 days per week, on the hilliest terrain around. I slacked off n my walking because we’ve had such terrible heat waves since April. But, I know I’ll quickly lose any fat I gain as soon as it cools down and I can resume my walks, which I love.

Forgot to say, I’m now just under 9 stone, or 125 lbs. A stone is 14 lbs., right? I could lose another ten lbs. to” lose more abdominal fat, I’ll work on that this autumn/winter. I wanted to wait a year to wear my new wardrobe, bought in 2023, before losing more. I won’t go below 115 lbs., I already look a bit scrawny in the upper body. At age 64, I don’t have the youthful collagen that plumps out the upper chest and neck area anymore. What a relief it is to know what to do to lose weight now, vigorous walking and strict carb reduction. Nothing I tried before ever worked for me. I ate only 800 calories per day, counting, weighing and measuring every speck of food, for 22 years and didn’t lose one pound, just maintained my high weight. But I was eating nearly all carbs on these starvation rations and felt lousy all the time. It’s not about calories, it’s about which foods you eat and exercise.

Congratulations on sticking to your goals, even when it's been hard, and thanks for your honesty. There's really no quick fix, is there? I've not followed keto as I have a limit to how much fat I can eat before my stomach rebels. However, I've eliminated sugar and high glycemic load carbs from my diet. I"m extremely lucky in that I don't particularly like starchy/doughy foods so this has partially been a breeze - kicking sugar, however, was much more difficult. Had to go cold turkey in the end - for me even a tsp of maple syrup will set me up for failure the rest of the day. The sacrifice has been worth it though - I'm down 4lb and 1 inch of belly fat in a month which is the rate I wanted to lose at. I'm just so happy to be so much less fixated on food in general and have stopped craving sweets - which I never thought I could ever achieve.

I did a very strict keto diet, including fasting for 16 hours a day (from 8pm till 12 noon), in order to pull down my skyrocketing type 2 diabetes numbers. It was extremely harsh, and only medically recommended as a short term strategy, and I saw my doctor every fortnight to monitor my progress. I stuck at it diligently for 4 months, and it did the trick. It wasn't aimed at losing weight, but at dropping the diabetes numbers. But one side effect was weight loss - 8kg in 4 months. I could have lost more if I was stricter but I was also happy to include small amounts of brown rice occasionally (1/3 cupful) and dark chocolate as my treat, and continue to drink full fat milk, as it is extremely good for you compared to skimmed milk, which can sometimes have higher sugar content, believe it or not. I have a couple of other friends who have done keto diets too, and we've all found over time that as you move to the maintenance phase, the weight will steadily return if you're not strict with yourself.

Ketogenic diet for over a year now and I've lost 60 pounds (a little over 4 stone). But more than that, I feel fantastic, more energy and less brain fog. Blood work all going in the right direction, no more hypoglycemia (blood sugar highs and lows), lower resting heart rate, lots more lung capacity, reduced inflammation and pain, and no cravings. Basically on this diet you're just teaching your body to burn fat for energy instead of carbs. This has all kinds of health benefits even though it goes against everything we were ever taught about 'eating the rainbow' and the 'food pyramid'. You've got to be willing to think outside the box and do your own research about sugar (all kinds), seed oils, and ultra-processed food - the results don't lie! Down side - I had to buy a whole new wardrobe, went from a 16-18 XL to a size 10 Medium! Just kidding, not a down side at all - it's fun to shop for clothes at this size especially with people like YOU for outfit inspiration! Happy for you and your progress on your health journey!

Really agree with you regarding mood swings and brain fog. There is no spiking in your blood sugar so the cravings go away, and you don’t have to think about biscuits any more. I find what helps when I go out is to order appetizers. It could be calimare and a salad with sprouts and beets and walnuts. It really fills you up. The keto diet has the ability to prevent certain cancers, reverse type two diabetes and prevent conditions like dementia. If you include fasting and enter the autophagy stage, it helps shrink skin a.o., which can be associated with weight loss.
@mbh30046 күн бұрын
I don’t know any vegetarians who followed a keto diet. Rice +beans, peanut butter on whole wheat toast are 2 example combos that provide nutrients for complete proteins to prevent muscle loss. Maintaining and even building muscle is key to support saggy skin (cosmetic!) and to enable weight bearing activities (health, osteoporosis prevention!). Eggs and greek yogurt and nuts are good but loss of protein sources peas, beans, milk - coupled with vegetarianism- is not sustainable. What is your secret to get enough protein? Also, necessary vitamins and unique combinations of micronutrients are only available and properly absorbed (bioavailability) via consumption of a variety of fruits and vegetables of all textures and colors. Elimination of nutrient combos prevent body systems from working as efficiently as they should to prevent brain fog, illness, and to slow effects of aging. Now that you have lost the weight do consider adding all types of fruits vegetables and legumes back into your diet. Yes natural sugar is introduced but in moderation you won’t gain the weight back.

Also, be very careful about being so vigilant on the diet… You can have a dinner out sometime and enjoy yourself every once in a while… I think we have to be really careful about being very law-based and absolute with our diets… Problems can arise there… if you’re eating like you’re eating about 90% time or even 80% of the time, you can enjoy something fun every once in a while!

While keto will help you loose weight it is not typically sustainable long term since your eliminating an entire micro. I recommend getting your hormones checked since menopause will trigger hormone shifts and weight gain. Balancing hormones might give you what you’re looking for while you can still enjoy the foods you like. My daughter has her masters in nutrition and dietetics and doesn’t recommend keto except for diabetics. Many people have cholesterol issues after keto. Pay attention to your blood work and how you feel.

The Keto diet is not the healthies IN THE LONG RUN. We don't need that much fat. And demonising the good carbs - (sweet) potatoes, brown rice, oats, quinoa and other wholegrains, legumes (beans, chickpeas, peas, lentils) - is not right, these carbs are actually much lower in calorie than fats and they're the fuel our body needs. They also keep you regular. We need to separate processed (salty, sugary, fatty carbs like pastries) from the good carbs. I am triggered by processed food/carbs so I need to abstain from it, I simply don't buy it or bring it into the house anymore, just like an alcoholic would not have alcohol around them. I cannot do moderation when it comes to trigger foods, I remain a volume eater (and food addict). Eating whole food plant-based (not a diet, but a way of eating) helped me lose weight effortlessly, I can still eat very big portions of the most amazing and delicious food(fat-free or very low fat) and still lose weight. The food is simple to prepare and I batch-cook. I followed the advice of Dr John McDougall (look up the free online starch solution plan if you're interested) and the non-profit Physicians Committee, Dr Neil Barnard is so kind and trustworthy. I would urge you to try this way of eating for 10 days, you don't have to become wholly plant-based, it really works and it's natural and healthy, close to what our grandparents would have eaten. I overcame all my binge-eating/overeating/eating disordered in this way. I've never had a relapse and I'm finally my happy (slim) weight, I can finally look a little like those chic Parisian ladies! Other good channels are: Chef AJ, Ryan Adams Slim and Sustain, Nutmeg Notebook, Healthy Emmie. I can't recommend these wonderful channels enough and you don't have to buy anything. Please also look up Chef AJ's calorie density chart, easy to read and super helpful, no need to calorie count but calories still count and it's so much easier to view calorie per food group

Good advice, you look so amazing. I'm in a tough time losing weight and just trying to cut back on eating things with a lot of flavorings and keep exercising 4-5 times a week. I can feel a little slimmer around the circumference, but I haven't lost much weight overall.

That’s a very little food each day so you would lose weight. Why can you have yoghurt but not milk? The food is so boring that’s why you aren’t thinking about eating now.

I've noticed your weight loss over the past year and I thought you looked great before. Sometimes dieting can be taken too far and you don't look healthy anymore. Love your style advice but I just wish every influencer didn't feel the need to lose so much weight. It's sad really.

That diet sounds too restricted, your never going to keep that up. Also what sort of life are you living….. is it even enjoyable We are here for such a short time and I understand people wanting to loose weight but choose a meal plan that’s not so restricted. I’ve heard slimming world gives the best results. I’ve never had a weight issue but I appreciate people really struggle, my sister does. It must be very hard.

The keto diet will help you lose weight but not healthy long term. Too much protein and severe lack of fibre.

It doesn’t sound like she’s lacking fiber with all those veggies. It doesn’t appear she’s getting much protein either.

Ozempic, that’s how she lost the weight otherwise she wouldn’t be talking about it, wish celebrities and influencers would tell the true. She’s a fashion influencer why is she talking about weight!

Bravo. You look great! Your health likely appreciates the change. I’m over 60 and my weight has been drifting upwards (again). I lost 35 pounds on a low-carb diet over six years ago. I’m “playing” with 10-15 pounds and that’s too much to risk! So back to my program I go. Want to be healthy for a long, long time!
