China truly is a beautiful country and culture. Sometimes it's hard to watch the heritage of the past being lost in what we say is progress. Culture is and always should be a strength that binds the nation. Anton

I'm Indian. I have a great respect to China. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with Martial arts and Chinese cultures. I think when I was so young like 4 years, I watched a Chinese martial arts movie, but unfortunately I was so young to look for the movie name. (I still trying to find the movie by some sences that still in my head) From then, I'm in love with Martial arts and Chinese culture.....etc. If I really visit China then I'll make sure to visit this place.

Sadly this is not solely a issues within China, I spent 15 yrs of my life living in Japan and everyday a piece of history was lost. Kyoto was a prime example with it's unique style of tradional home called a Kyo Machia, the city keeps ordering them to be removed, it is foreigners who are buying these and restoring them to their former beauty. Foreigners are having to help preserve a aspect of Kyotos history that the Local people seem unwilling to do. Their is a old saying not sure by who, to know ones self is to know ones past, only then can the future be embraced, I hope beautiful China can learn from it's storied history, that not all that is new and shiny is Gold. Loved the video you have a new subscriber as China has always facinated me and I love seeing not only the new but the old China, many blessing upon you, thank you!

Beautifully said. I am also a new subscriber as l watched this documentary as you tube recommendation. Once in awhile they show me something interesting. Historic buildings, whole villages, and towns disappear everywhere in the world sadly. Understandable, people today want to live in comfort, and not in isolation, nor have limited access to education. But l have seen in other documentaries, that middle aged Chinese, who succeeded in their professions started looking for houses, properties to restore them to their old glory. Let’s hope for future glory. Thank you. Cheers, Judy 🌏🦘

For some time China took 'a leaf out of the westerners book' in as much as learning to value and preserve one's historic structures, cultural arts and try to incorporate it into something the public can access too as it belongs to the public as do the government funds to renovate it! At the same time educating the public to respect it, protect it and care about it, to engage with it, be attracted to it. I've heard for a long time now that China has begun to do this although sometimes their understanding of how to protect is more destructive than protective. It's good that they've left that ancient emperor's tomb with a lake or rivers of mercury sealed until better technology and understanding of how to open it without destroying it exists. If that's the real reason. Of course the level of importance of how carefully something is treated depends on what the item / project is, China needs to learn this, too and that stems from a change of mindset from the top down or from the level of demand from the bottom up. We can only hope this improvement happens sooner than later. China and it's people are wondrous, amazing, dynamic, dramatic, exciting, beautiful, emotional, tragic, sometimes cruel, mentally suffocated, an unpolished rough stone that needs outside help to become a beautiful shining gem of lasting quality rather than just "sparkling glass" and racism, scorn and arrogance. The potential is so tempting yet proving so tragic each year, each month, which is so sad. It feels that the people of China have suffered non stop for centuries by their own hand, by invaders and emperors, then by others and from a mindset of money first above all rather than the more altruistic or (Christian ethic) of helping others too and being honest, honest in love, life, business, rather than seeing honesty as a missed opportunity to benefit through a lie then laugh at how well they tricked you after you were trusting them, honourably. The deep level of oppression, of servitude has never stopped if you think of it historically, never ceased and it effects the mindset and progress of each and all and ironically it is wished that this misery be spread around the globe. If that isn't insanity, what is! Corruption small or large destroys a country's progress and China is not alone in this but there are degrees of corruption. Less developed countries are plagued by it and will even tell you they like the bribery 'system' for getting things done! How naive, how ignorant, but when you have no experience of any other way how can you understand the damage it doesnor how things still get done but more fairly and and no one is missed out or suffers, infrastructure and systems to cope better grow and perfect instead?! China needs to stop seeing the west as a threat and try harder to understand the differences between them and embrace the most sophisticated country's as friends with a more open mind. The arts, culture are not the place for political scrutiny, surveillance and constant overseeing for political reasons. Not everything and every one requires watching and following, questioning, it's an obsession China seems to have and to any outsider it appears Chinese authorities mus have a serious case of ASD or Asperger's Syndrome. The human race has no time left for fear and threats. Sadly it's becoming more and more difficult to separate anything to do with China from the threats they present to most of those beyond China, and I use the word "beyond" rather than "outside" as I live in hope for China and us all, because "outside" is a word that suggests China is indeed walled-off and secular, rather than open and breathing the fresh air of choice, variety, exposure, learning, experience and cooperation from which China would only benefit and grow.and become.an important contribution to mankind's overall progress. Now we are ready to carry art and cute to the stars and how is it being done?... ...Secretly, desperately with a wall around Chinese and European projects as China proves they can't be trusted. Even Russia cooperated in space with Eurocentric nations successfully for a decade or three. How sad it that even space and our moon is not too far away nor to romantic to shed off the worst of human characteristics. The world wishes China well, if only China wished the world well too instead of making enemies and upsetting other nations at almost every turn on the international stage, and with a hankering for imperialism harming back to centuries past. China needs to preach love and inclusion, not bigotry and negativity, it would help with everything including the romantic beauty of the country, and in construction and restoration, even in the maintenance of vital infrastructure after quakes floods etc. We are stronger together than alone and we are all going to need to cooperate and strengthen each other's nation if we are to survive the next hundred years which will be the worst mankind has ever experienced. I love the romantic treatment given these videos by this young woman, she's poetic and her delivery is intimate, personal, moving. I hope these go from strength to strength. I also hope Chinese can feel compliments are not only deserving but can reflect upon the warmth kindness and well meaning of those leaving positive comments as our comments also reflect on our open mindedness, our stand against racism, our appreciation of other very exotic very different cultures and the allowances, tolerance made for this. It's a willingness not to judge so quickly. Also to accept that there may be things you do not understand which does not mean others of another race or culture are stupid or foolish but rather that there can be a subtlety in things you do not know, yet can learn. If only we could all learn to get along and videos like these could also glorify our undying love for each nation. I suppose that like the host of this Channel, I'm a bit of a romantic dreamer too. If more of us were the world might be a better place, don't knock the dreamer. It's a luxury earned by cooperation, wealth and the kind of salt production community the narrator describes in one of their videos, "Ghost City", they were able to buy what they needed rather than a life of quite so much hard labour, this allows people the time to dream, imagine, create, progress their community and country, but you need your heart on the right place to succeed, ultimately. Meanness guarantees you a place in hell or as in the video, "the place the gods send you for torture".

Living in ancient China through your eyes and words is truly a delight. My wife is from Guilin and I've become obsessed with Chinese history for the past 10 years. Thank you for your videos. If I may be so bold as to make a request.... The background music tends to drown out your narrative, so if you could decrease the music volume or increase your speech, things would be better...at least for me.

The narrow valley road and ruined salt town reminds me of the western Sichuan towns I've seen and traveled through, situated alongside rivers in narrow and steep sided valleys. Your video shows us that this ancient village developed into a busy industry. No doubt there were many people living there and it was an important economy to those living and working in the area. The old buildings and. your narrative helps us imagine the hustle and bustle of life in the salt town. Your command of English language is very good as well as your descriptive observations. You have a an interesting channel which teaches us how life is now, and was, in China. Thankyou.

I loved this documentary. Chongqing surprises me all the time. I started watching vlogs about Chongqing, because of Xiao Zhan and Chen Kun the actors being from Chongqing, probably many more from this region. I think there is a famous Chongqing hot pot. Anyway, this was so interesting, heartbreaking, and heartwarming at the same time, still seeing the remnants of this salt producing place. It’s a nostalgic place. These type of houses, “industry”, breathe past, present, and maybe one day will have a future. As everything decays, but one day resurrect itself to something new. We don’t know the future, as we live on the edge of destruction in general, so these places will be the future survival villages. I can’t explain it, but this is my perception, my intuition whenever l see lost, deserted enclaves. It’s touching and haunting. Thank you. I enjoyed your documentary, and subscribed. Will watch your other works slowly too. Greetings from Judy , Melbourne, AUS

First time watching your channel and I’m impressed. Very interesting content and a change from the ultra modern buildings we usually see. A new subscriber and I look forward to checking out the rest of your catalogue. Thank you for sharing, Pat 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
