After commenting on your Van Life video, I thought that your hometown really sounds perfect for the life you desire. It's close enough to base out of and explore the endless sites in China; near all the joys of Chongqing; it has a lovely location in the mountains; very friendly people; cute pigs; you already have roots here; you already feel at home here; etc. The only thing I am not aware of, is the climate, but any place where one can grow oranges, and peaches in the mountains can't be all bad. For me, the humidity might be a problem, but I don't know what it is. I feel comfortable with a humidity around 25%, which is why I live in a high desert! I hope that this could be where you settle down. But, obviously, there are a lot of desirable locations in China.

You are a complex, beautiful, woman, whom I do not pretend to understand completely. It does seem that you have the normal, human desire to be rooted in a home somewhere, but still be free to do as you desire. Also, this home should be close to nature and the 4 seasons. I share these desires and I think most people do too. You also are very talented at what you are doing now. It would be a shame, that if you were so rooted you couldn't continue with the work of your channel! Everyone needs some active interest or avocation. So, ideally( please forgive my presumptionness) you should find a place to sink roots and still be in a location where you can easily make trips to do your work. I had a similar desire and picked a location where I could sink roots but still was in an area where there were lots of places to explore and travel to. I found this place in Idaho, but as I grew older, I lost my desire to travel. So, now I am a homebody. Good luck to you, and I hope I can be around to help you in your search.

Again, I am not sure I understand your image of the truck passing by, stripping away all unrealistic thoughts. I can certainly understand that if I were walking down a country road, soaking in nature, a large truck passing by would probably bring me back to reality....I realize that my trying to understand your complex emotions this way, is pretentious and little ridiculous, if you were here by my side(just dreaming), It would be a lot easier.

I am not sure that I understand what you are saying here. What I think you are saying, is that you don't want to float over the world, like a bird, although you want the absolute freedom to do so, but again, you want to be grounded in order to touch, feel, and absorb your surroundings.

I agree, there is a need for most people to be"rooted somewhere" and to enjoy the changing of the seasons. I was "unrooted" most of my life and now that I have sunk roots for the last 30 years, I have little desire to move around. Observing the changing of the seasons, from my garden, is one of the greatest pleasures of my life.

Being close to nature does ground a person. As you say, the world is obsessed with rushing along, hardly taking time to enjoy the beauties and wonderful things around it. City life, these days, is so artificial and dehumanizing, that a return to nature, even if temporary, is necessary for one's sanity. I live in a small, quiet town in Idaho, with a large park across the street, not many hassles, but still I spend hours in my secluded garden just quietly absorbing nature.

It seems that you have found a place in your hometown. But you have just started your search and who knows what will turn up. It took me 10 years to find a place that suited me and sometimes the search is the best part.

The caves and the fort are spectacular. I am amazed that they are not a big tourist attraction. I guess that there are so many spectacular sites in the Chongqing area, no one gets excited about this site. I think the fort and caves story would make a great movie.

I am running low on comments right now, except even though I have watched all your videos many times, I always enjoy watching them again. You are a good story teller, who wears well with time. Tomorrow, I plan to go to your video where you talk about your plans and RV life. Hopefully, I will have more to say. Later on tonight, I hope to rewatch and comment on one my favorite videos of yours.

Thanks for the shots of the older buildings with their beautiful architecture. I hope they won't be torn down to build the much less attractive skyscrapers.
