My first shape it's a fish that looks similar the Physco Killer. I shaped it 6,2 x 20.5 x 2.85 floats me great and it so awesome to ride. I made the tail with squared rails, and the rest of the rails made them 50/50. It floats, rides, cruise and snaps, all that in one board.

Cool review. Love watching things like this. Your personal quiver must be huge. Seems you have loads of boards

Hello, i have hard time hearing you, you should record the sound on your phone with your headset. Are you planning to test the funnelator from libtech ? it seem to be a mix between the pj and the pf with a twist on the concave. I find your channel very instructive and to top that we are riding the same dims. Ps: could you tell us what were your prefered board for 2018 ? and what you are riding right now ? what fins you like the most too. Yep we have fins data too on other country, i find it very interesting.

Hey mate. Ah that sucks .. I have a mic finally so thought it would be beter .. Maybe I can crank it up some or get it closer still.. Need to work on that always seems really low volume when I listen. That's why I got a mic so I didn't have to shout so much :-) lol Not even heard of the Funnelator to you mentioned it but just googled it and it looks sick... and like you say has some similarities between a PF and PJ.. Unlikely it will be a board on my radar though i'm affraid.. Lib tech arn't super common here in NZ.. I have had a Lib puddle fish though and the construction must be the strongest best made board you can get that still feels good to surf .. I just wish they would put propper fin boxes in them.. I would love a qiver killer in lib tech for a travel board that would be mint..Thank heaps for your support and comments and glad your enjoying the content.. Cool that your riding the same dims.. What weight and hight are you and what sort of waves do you ride out of interest .. I'm always getting bagged for riding high volume but I dont find boards will get going at my local break if not and i'm not a 60kg 20 year old whippet :-) Oh wow now there is a question.. To be honest i'm always chopping and changing and need to refine things so I can progress.. I change boards way to much really but in 2018 I would say I spent a lot of time on and was most impressed with (in wave size order) Fireiwre Wingnut Noseride, Firewire Gem, Sadhana 7'0" Piggy midlength, Definitely the Bean bag for smaller waves, Puddle Jumper, The Seaside and the RNF retro have been stand out favorites.. we dont get good waves that often so lots of the hybrid stuff like the quiver killer etc not getting out as much as they should.. The Rocket wide is a good one too I probably got mine bigger than necessary but it's still not feeling overly bulky.. That's been the list through a lot of 18 and now really Looking forward to getting on things more like the Psycho killer quiver killer psycho nitro and the more performance boards this year as we get into winter. Cheers mate

Oh and fins my go to are the Large AM for the more hybrid performance end, Been playing with the JS, DH, Fanning as options too. Also have some stretch for semi grovel boards that have been pretty good. Split keels are my go to for grovellers though My bean bag I use AM twins and 2 x trailers. Seems like the large accelerator with the normal medium rear quad area popular for a good reason too if your in a puddle jumper type board.. I play around with fins quite a lot too.. Have a few guids on here as you may have seen..Cheers.

@@lawson45uk ah am good for the speed, i do prefer foiled fins for the grip of the wave, im using quad nexus indofins on the pj atm. Im experimenting with fin size atm as im lacking take off power on my thruster.
@lawson45uk
@lawson45uk 5 жыл бұрын
@@youdigsurf Yeah I need to experiment more with the foiled fins myself got lot of performers in variuos combos that I haven't tried.. The Futures V2 foils are really good like the Haydens as a quad and the Roberts generations large but I have done away with all my Futures fins now and just have a couple of fish on the system so the fins paid for this board. Yeah the indo fins are not too bad aye .. I'm trying to stick to just FCS 2 now as the connection on anything that's not FCS2 just seems to take away from the performance.. I put old FCS fins in and they just feel like there wobbling all over the place over flexing at the base that's the reason I used to prefer futures . FCS2 with the extra surety of still screwing it in is the way form me now :-) lol The Dane reynolds are a nice fin too if you want some more drive in the front just the back fin is even smaller than the am centre though. What size is your PJ? I was running the McCallum large especial quads in that now about to try large accelerator front and medium performer rear quad.. The Accellerator large is one of the largest area fins in the standard sort of fin range.. That's why I went for the stretch too there a lot bigger than the old ones so it's a solid size of quad without going all the way to a split keel.

@@lawson45uk lots of info haha, ive got the hs medium to try as thruster couldnt due to bad surf conditions , my pj is 6'1” 22.5" 2.8" a little bit too wide if you ask me , sluggish ... that why i try to stick to around 21.5" max width on most of my board...

@@lawson45uk hey dude… just saw this so super late reply. But have had lots of QK surfs since. I have a PJHP 39L for the small stuff and switch up to 37L when 3ft+. To me it easily feels as easy to paddle as the PJHP despite lower volume. I ride it as a quad and it’s great. As easy to catch a wave in 2ft as PJHP but have had it in well overhead and never felt like it was out of its depth.

hey thanks for the video ! what do you think you would recommend to complement a seaside, a quiver killer or psycho killer (or a different board) ? im trying to make a 2 board travel quiver to surf the most waves, and i find i struggle on the seaside in steeper waves. Also, what do you feel is the most user friendly of the two ?
@lawson45uk
@lawson45uk 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sorry for the late reply. Yeah quiver killer or Psycho killer would be a great choice. Both great boards and both very user friendly. Choice might come down to wave size you want to ride and board size you choose. I feel the same with the seaside. Can take it out in head plus locally but our wave is very slow and fat. Even here in most board sizes regular guys need it's not going to have the same hold as it does for a pro riding super low volume. it's made to generate speed and at a certain point your looking to control speed more than generate speed. I would probably go the quiver killer to create the biggest gap. Quiver killer is slightly more narrow in the nose a little more rocker and a round tail. If your looking to ride pretty solid waves maybe even something like a happy round tail or a pyzel Phantom or Ghost but if your not going to be in serious waves in the well overhead range the QC should do the job. Cheers.

@@KC-ro9ro Nice :-) Not ridden one but seen them and heard good things. Sounds like a good choice, Phzels generally handle size really well too as there used to Hawaiian waves. Cheers.

I have a lib tech QK and in big but fat head high beach break waves, it feels kinda sluggish. I’m using Al Merrick thrusters large. What fins do you recommend to spice up the QK / make it more snappy?
@lawson45uk
@lawson45uk Жыл бұрын
Is that in FCS or Futures. Fcs you could give the stretch SF4 a go if you want speed. The mayhem large are decent too if you just want more lively but don’t need too much if any extra drive.

Which has thinner,more med low rails?psycho killer or quiver killer?
@lawson45uk
@lawson45uk 5 жыл бұрын
The Quiver Killer. Not much in it and bear in mind both of mine are customs but I would say the Quiver killer has slightly lower and slightly more refined rails. The Psycho is just a touch more boxy and there is definitely more meat in the foil chest to nose on the Psycho. Hope that helps
