Pops here... thanks so much for all of the really nice comments! I'm so sorry to also hear that many have lost their fathers. I know how fortunate I am to be able to do this with Jon... and especially as he was taking it easy on me! I'm truly so proud of what Jon is doing with this channel and how much effort he pours into making this come to life! And hey, I didn't realize that my tackle box was so vintage either until Jon showed me how he had paired his lures down to about a dozen in a sleek tackle case. I told him that he was being really "e-fish-ent"... Do make a point of getting outdoors and exploring nature with your loved ones! Be well. Pops

I've done these trips with my kids over the years. My son now has his own family three provinces away, but my adult daughter still enjoys going with dad. This summer we were up that way, and we ended up on the portage from Hades. When I asked her how it was going, she cheerfully said "Making memories dad". Enjoy the memories Jon and Lloyd.

I had this with my son this summer too:))))) I'm closing on 50 and he 30. Now we are more best buddies, then father/son. Next summer we have planned a pack-raft trip together again. Same place as this summer. hanging out with my son, is my favorite time:)))))) Great video John and your father seems like a really fun guy to hang out with:))))))

We just watched and enjoyed the latest video with your Dad. My own sons and I have spent BWCA trips together like this along with snowshoeing in winter. Ever since we began doing this around 2002, my older son documented each time with both film and photos and provided chosen background music for it. As time and age comes to pass, I have had to back away from it a little...so enjoy all this that you can. Your own videos are so well done and will be your own legacy. I've recommended these, along with those of Xander and Maxim to others. They are all well anticipated. It's great that we have that same kind of comradery as father and son together and that includes our weekends of moderate drinking in a rec room we created with a Northwoods type decor atmosphere. Thanks for taking us along on your trips.

Enjoy these times with your father. When he's gone, they will never return but will live on in your memory. One thing about a father's advice. You don't really miss it until it's not available, so listen to him. Yes, my Dad is gone. We never had quite the relationship you and your father appear to have. That's ok. Pops, I was impressed when you showed you're tackle box and it had Jitter Bugs in it. Growing up, black Jitter Bugs were my go to bait on the Central Michigan lake I grew up on. You don't see them much anymore but they still work and I use them often. Some people may call them a "vintage" lure but I call them a "classic" . It was good to see a father and son spending quality time together, really enjoyed the show. I was also impressed you were still carrying a Hula Popper, another "classic"!

One suggestion I would make if you have a way to do so would be to gill the fish you're keeping to eat. They bleed out quickly and it drains most of the blood out of the meat so it's cleaner when you fillet it.
