Another OG left the VA world far too soon. About a year after the pandemic, I was in a space where peeps could enjoy anime and chat and stumbled upon various anime like Revolutionary Girl Utena and the movie respectively, as well as Berserk, and DNA². It was at that moment I heard several familiar VAs from those dubs. Couldn't check them out when they first aired but glad I went down the rabbit hole. She also had roles in the recent adaptation of HUNTERxHUNTER while my mind was subconsciously thinking "why does that voice sound familiar?" Kinda like you're rediscovering another VA after several years. Rest in Peace, Rachel Lillis. Forever will be missed, forever loved, and forever will be an indelible part of many 90s kids childhoods. o7

Rayquaza cares about Deoxys invasion since keeping an eye on the upper layers of the atmosphere is his job. You better believe that Groudon and Kyogre going wild is messing up his domain, so obviously he interferes. Same with a meteor crashing in. But a portal opening on the surface? He wouldn't even notice, not to mention Alola is the Tapus territory and Zygarde was already on the scene as backup.

The first Pokemon episode I saw, was the Jigglypuff episode I tuned in one morning before I started the new school year in 1999, that was my first exposure to Pokemon outside of the advertising for the GameBoy Games. She voiced Misty, Jessie and Jigglypuff in that episode, I then watched the previous episodes in season 1 and noticed how cute Misty was and she became my first Anime Waifu love during my teenage years.

Also interesting and something I've wondered about since Zygarde's introduction, it's weird how much the life/death trio has with the weather trio. Groudon is red and black, land based, while Yveltal is red and black, sky based, both associated with death, fire drought, Yveltal literally death incarnate sucking up the life energy of living things. Kyogre is blue and white (ignoring the red accents lol), sea based, Xerneas blue and black, its battle form taking on white accents, land based creature, water is heavily associated with life, Xerneas is life Pokemon incarnate, capable of just giving life. Meanwhile their shinies also parallel (more so primal Groudon and Kyogre since... weird pink purple killer whale and lime green dinosaur thing lol) becoming opposites, Xerneas and Yveltal get whiter, while Groudon and Kyogre become black in their true primal forms that they were initially born with. Zygarde land based green and black dragon protector of ecosystems, Rayquaza sky based green and black dragon creator of the sky and protector of the planet from ozone layers. Zygarde's shiny turns it from black to white, while Rayquaza gets more black losing its green. Yin and Yang of it all. Very interesting these trios have so much in common, not just because ORAS released right after XY.

That's such a shame, and those original voices are still the best imo, Misty wasn't my 1 anime waifu crush, my 1st Pokemon was May (unsure if she was my 1st anime crush or not, 1st Pokemon definitely), but know Noble and many others had her as their 1st anime waifu crush. I too didn't know Pokemon, Yugioh, Kirby, One Piece (ah yes the 4 kids days), Sonic X were anime, and they changed our childhoods... some for better or worse lol. Pokemon definitely on the former end of the spectrum, her voices as Jessie, Jigglypuff, and Misty are iconic, and legendary. I don't like tsunderes why I couldn't crush on Misty, child me thought she was a bully, but she also had her charms and was a great character, and like a big sister to Ash. My favorite episode of her was probably the one she catches Horsea, that has the giant Tentacruel that would later be censored because um... the towers, they're falling... yeaaaah. Another favorite moment, Ash's brief stint with death in the Tower of Terror, he scares Misty, but this just makes her worry about Ash more. Finding out she was the water gym leader was a shocker too back as a kid, I started on gen 2, with Silver wouldn't backtrack to Red till after the anime, and saw the anime prior to my Red experience. Pokemon Shipwreck is amazing too, from both Misty and Jessie's ends. Jessie is nothing without James, and vice versa, I can't tell you 1 individual time she outshined, Team Rocket as a whole had loads of glorious moments, even in the movies, helping Ash in the 2nd movie, the 3rd movie my favorite line in general that's always stuck with me for some reason, Meowth saying about the Unown "it's like alphabet soup without the soup". I liked her chemistry with fellow Team Rocket member Cassidy, her rivalry with Cassidy was more funny than Butch vs James. I know it's a lot but there's just so many memories, Rachael Lillis you will be missed, may you rest in peace.
