Yeah, my dad taught me about using playing cards when you need to be able to adjust something in small increments. Super useful in the right circumstance!

Stopped by to say....THANKS! I'm doing a custom Clone helmet, and ALMOST bought TWENTY ONE dollar pin striping. I have coloured electrical tape, and all the rest. And let me say, when I saw you raise that X-Wing Pilot helmet, I literally went 'RIGHT ON!' right out loud. HAHA! Wicked!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I've recently started making and selling hula hoops and it has been such a struggle trying to cut rolls of tape in half with a safety knife, very time consuming. Sometimes my hand slips and I mess, completely ruining an entire roll of tape. I have all of these things and I am going to try this first thing tomorrow. This will make things soo much easier for me.

Thank you, I wanted to tape between wire layers on a small 6mm ferrite coil former but only had 15mm transformer tape. I used your idea to make some 6mm wide tape. Great idea.

Excellent tip! Readymade thin model-making tapes can be expensive, and some widths are only available in a narrow gamut of colors. I'm going to have to add a deck of cards to my toolbox. Subscribed!

@@LostWax I am using it for tabs for charts I use constantly. The other ones come off too easily or are hard to find. I think I am using white duct tap that is 1/2 wide so cutting it smaller.

A good tip, which I'll use to reduce a roll of masking tape to about .46", and .25" for making a temp bandsaw tire. Cheers!

Thank you Sir for this, I needed 1/4'' tape for a project, amazon sells for $3 to $11 per roll, I can't afford that, with your method I can make any size I need, I did try this and it works, might work better if I had a new blade, and you are correct in saying to just have a small point sticking out, thanks again...

quick question, in your diver's helmate video, what paint did you use? and was it water proof?

I think I used Liquitex basics acrylic paint, and yep it was waterproof. It also never hurts to give it a coat of some sort of clear acrylic.

You could use the broken off part of a exacto knife. Wouldn't be as expensive as a scalpel blade.

you could just clamp the blade down with a block for spacing instead of gluing it.

Great tip! If you used a C-clamp for more pressure (and maybe another piece of stir stick on top of the knife) you probably wouldn't even have to glue it.

I guess it depends where you get your epoxy, I get mine at the dollar store, so that's worth a look..... and you'll have lots left over for other projects!
