It was still prop knife with everything blunted not sharp one. Still would have hurt definetly if he would have hit Viggo especially if it would have went straight to his face. The actor actually did it by mistake it was the knife he was meant to throw, but because he couldnt see very well because of the prosthetics he accidently threw it at Viggo when he was meant to throw it way past him, and they likely would have just used camera angles, and such to make it look like its aimed straight at him

These actors really made the films truly something special both on and off screen. What I would give to have just been there for a single day of shooting. We get to watch the magic. from what I've heard, the extras that played the Uruks got into character very easily. In Two Towers, that scene of them all lined up, banging their weapons and chests, just shouting out animal noises of violence and death before the initial assault, was unscripted activity from the extras. They just started doing it, and the actors seeing it were genuinely unnerved by the performance, so the "shaken defenders" shots of them reacting to it were somewhat genuine xD

"Move forward with the intention you are going to kill." This is what so many fight scenes these days lack, intent (or at least the appearance of). It's painfully obvious that a stunt man isn't trying to hit the actor while also allowing themselves to be hit. It makes both the hero and the villains look silly and incompetent, and the villains never come across as a real threat taking away any sense of tension.

The scene at the end of Part 1, where Aragorn cuts off an Uruk sergeant's arm and stabs him with his sword - and the Uruk just proceeds to pull himself onto the sword with a grimace saying "this is nothing to me, bitch, fuck you", is in my top 3 favorite movie villain scenes of all time. All these years I always thought there is something special about the orcs/Uruks in the classic lotr films, about how fucking mean they look, unlike any other "villain army" in any other movie. I'm happy to learn I wasn't wrong and especially why it was that way

They were immediate rental priority for my family as they were coming out. I got super hyped seeing trailers, so my folks rented fellowship as soon as it came to the rental store we used, and then we all wound up loving it. I highly suggest finding a fan edit of the Hobbit movies to download and watch. There are tons out there. I found one that cuts all three into a single 4 hour version by removing all the non-book scenes. It also applies or removes a filter to make them appear visually closer to the trilogy, which helps with some of the more CGI heavy scenes, imo.

I love the individual look of each orc. Not soulless clones, but individual characters. An absolutly fantastic job done by the make up team. And I love how they spit while talking. That makes them really come alive. So intimidating. And to know these are NZ soldiers and Maori and both. And the stunt coordinator points at you and tells them: "Kill him." It should've never been a trilogy, they should've shot it like a normal film instead of that stupid high framerate shit that only make a minuscule difference if you see it in a theater, and should've used actual actors and sets and such like they did with LOTR. As they are, the hobbit movies are just a bloated bastardization of a fantastic story. The old animated version did better at bringing the hobbit to the screen.

Irony is that actually, the Uruk Hai actors were reportedly terrified of Viggo (best swordsman their coach had ever encountered, apparently) since he was such a whirlwind in the fight scenes.
