Yeah, it is funny. I completely agree about women in movies, but a lot of people complained about the princess and eggsy. In a movie that was like a serious type parody of James Bond movies, it purposefully went over the top in so many areas, why would the interaction between the protagonist and his “love interest” not also be shown over the top to show the ridiculousness of it. But sadly that was missed by too many. I also like how the “bad guy’s” intentions were actually pretty good, just a few flaws in the logic how to get there, like thanos, yet before thanos.

Not sure if you know but this movie is based on a comic book which is pretty close to this one although there are a few differences like Valentine's hench woman is a henchman in the comics, Eggsy gets kicked out of the Kingsman and has to pass a trial to get back in which involves him being dumped in his underpants in a South American country and has to get his passport back from a dug dealers compound and get back to the UK by a certain time. Mark Hamil actually features in the comic as well as himself because Valentine is a sci-fi nerd and is trying to save his favourite actors more than world leaders.

I like your take on feminism. :) As has been pointed out, there's a sequel, and a prequel coming out in December. The trailer looks good. The stance on being a gentleman reminds me of Blast From the Past, where Brendan Fraser plays a 30 year old man who has literally grown up in bomb shelter, in which his parents were locked for 30 years. His father taught him that "good manners are just a way of showing other people we have respect for them." A good movie. #kayreacts

Yeah, there is a real problem these days with the way "strong female characters" are presented to audiences. They can never just be, they always have to make jabs at men, or pretend like it's some sort of important social commentary. Imagine if Alien or The Terminator were released today. I would go blind from eye rolling. Thank God they weren't. The Kingsman films passed me by when they came out, just wasn't in the mood. They look fun enough, maybe I'll check them out. That church fight was really well done, I think I've seen it parodied elsewhere. Mr. Darcy going ham is something I won't soon forget.

Another good spy flick also based on a comic is #kayreacts _Atomic Blonde._ It's a lot gritter and not as campy as this movie. Plenty of plot twists and the fight scenes are... well, let's just say the protagonist is good, very good even, but not a superhero as the bruises in the opening shot will attest.

Hollywood has finally gotten it into their collective head that having the _one, single female_ in your movie be a conniving bitch is a "bad look", but it'll probably take _another_ half century for them to finally grasp that the solution to that is not to have her be a perfect paragon of rectitude, but to have _more goddamn females_ in the main cast, instead of the single token. One writer talked about how annoyingly constricting it was to write for such a token character. She said that the male characters could be anything: you could have a funny one, a serious one, a slob, a snob, and even an outright jerk (as opposed to a villain), and because there are plenty more males in the cast, you never run into the problem of stereotyping the male gender - but because there is only a single woman in the entire main cast, you can barely do _anything_ with her, because she is burdened with having to represent 50% of all humanity, all by herself. She has to be everything to everybody, and therefore cannot have any interesting character flaws, lest you run into "unfortunate implications". [This is all paraphrased from memory of an interview, not her actual words.]
@danzansandeev60333 жыл бұрын
good idea was that mako mori rule. she's pretty much only female character in the movie yet cause she is well written she is well represented

The problem with the Thanos solution... is that it makes perfect sense. It is logical. No one likes the idea... but it is almost necessary. Unfortunately... I feel like the Thanos solution is underway right now, in the real world, in real time... right outside your door.
@JulioLeonFandinho2 жыл бұрын
that's an old "solution" by sociologist Malthus to the problems of overpopulation. The way it's portrait in the Avengers movies is lame and you can't take it seriously. I remind you that all those Marvel movies, except for a couple of them, are for children... they simplified things to entertain kids, not to make people think
