You know a plant is good if plant collectors on a small property have more than one of them! Fantastic tour, thanks Jim and Stephany!

My vitex “Blue Diddley” here in Central Ohio, zone 6A, dies back to the ground in the winter and comes back every year to maybe 4 feet with bloom. I love it with its purple blooms and deer resistance!

I’m in South Alabama, Fairhope and recently bought 2 starlight hydrangeas at my local Lowes. I’m out of town atm but pics being sent to me show it blooming nicely. Nice sturdy stems. Definitely want more. And that Royal Hawaiian Waikiki is on my list.

Thank you for this wonderful informational video. I love planting anything that attracts hummingbirds and butterfly. I will adding more for other pollinators and adding to my property in zone 6b as well. Learning to grow in 2 different zones has been challenging for me but a learning experience for me.

I love the texture of their leaves & summer bloom time. I regularly see a whole bank of them that a developer planted & then ignored. They look great despite fighting it out with weeds

I was concerned myself for them as well. I am about 2 hours from them and other family right outside of Raleigh. These storms has been bad this year everywhere. My continued prayers for them and everyone in the path of these storms and under the heat dome this year. 🙏 🙏🙏 I know it did do damage and injured employees at the Pfizer plant.

I bought the Royal Hawaiian® Waikiki this year. I am 7a. Would you do a video on how and when to dig them up for winter? I was thinking if I mulched heavily and put something over it during the winter it might do ok but now I am wondering.

Roman candle looks great next to diamond spire. Noticed it’s out in the full sun there. Can it take full sun conditions like other podocarpus varieties? I know one at your house is in more shade.

The one plant my grandson really likes is a silver leaf Rex Begonia that was clearance. I'll be looking for one of those hardy Begonias. Looks great paired with Setcresea oddly enough. Always more thing on my wish list, thanks 😊

Hi Jim! I finally figured out my long hedge is Compact holly. They were here when I moved in years ago and a bit over grown. My husband and I didn't know what we were doing and would trim them whenever needed during the year which wasn't great cause now they they are struggling and have patches of dead stems. I would like to reclaim some of the space they have taken but I also don't want to remove this evergreen hedge. Do you have any pruning tips and health tips for compact holly? Is it possible to trim them back harder or will they die completely? Are they a lost cause and need to be pulled out? Thanks so much for all your help!

Help, please. My limelight standard has been in the ground for the second year. It was staked by the landscape company. It was pruned just before it leafed out. There were are so many flowers on stalks, it has pulled out of the ground after strong rain. Should I have pruned as it leafed out? How do I know which to prune? Thanks!

I was just about to comment that mine was doing great then I read yours. I’m in 8a SW of Atlanta. I haven’t watered mine much but we did have a cooler spring so that may have helped it get established before the heat hit. I’ve tip pruned a couple times. Looking forward to seeing how they do next year.

Hey Jim and Steph can Loropetalum grow alongside the touch of gold Holly? I remember Jim saying that those purple leaves next to the chartreuse green and gold will make them pop. My loropetalum is getting lost in the garden. You can’t see it unless you know it’s there. It’s in the full sun and I’d like something the helps the loropetalum stand out because it’s so gorgeous. I don’t have a large flowerbed so it would have to be something that could be maintained on the smaller side. Any ideas?

I still need to know when I can plant bushes where the diseased rose rosette knock out roses have been, since we chopped them down and are digging the root balls up. We want to start planting in September/ October this year. Plan to get Indian Hawthornes, azaleas, lorepetulams medium size and sone sky rocket pencils for corners of the front bed.
