Lotus Elise V8 from 2 Hayabusa Engines // 450Hp/10.000Rpm, 750Kg Monster

Dan Michl of Michl Motorsport is the driver of this unhinged Lotus based creation. Entered on events nowadays as an Elise, it was refered in the past as an Opel Speedster and Lotus Evora too. Bottom line has to be that base chassis is from the Lotus Elise platform.
But that tells only half the story of one of the most dominating cars in Europe in the Touring Car class (most notably E2-Sh class). This #HillclimbMonster uses a V8 formed by the junction of 2 Suzuki Hayabusa engines (called Hartley V8) that in this case produces around 450Hp/10.000Rpm. Couple that with a dry weight of only 750Kg and we get an hell of a fast Climber

Lin Chester all it is 2 busa motors with a custom crankshaft that lets those motors do what they're doing. F1 sounds way way more intense then this

Mac Diddles yes F1 engines have 18k rpm limits. The sound will be quite loud and way more better. That is unless you can make the engine run close to 18k rpm without the con rods and crank failing or valve float to destroy the engine.

holy hell, never before have i enjoyed having my eardrums perforated. but that noise. THAT NOISE!!! ive always had a fascination with twin engine race cars, and if anyone has seen the engine bay and the boot of an Elise. you will realize that that car has so much more potential than what rolls off the factory floor. its a sports car. you dont need a boot. put another engine in there.

You must know about the napkin ballpark figure right? Most usefull tool in an engineer toolbox when giving the first rough cut to a project. So if you had let say 30 pounds in turbo plumbing but you gain 250-300 hp (not overkilling the boost to not have a huge turbo lag) you still make a flabergasting profit. Maybe you're at 0,9 hp per kg but if you compare to a Corvette 2017 at 1500 Kg and 455 hp you're at 0,3 hp/kg or about a third of the Lotus project. Also, do to the rediculus amount of thermal energy trown away in an high rev engine do to the hurley opening and the overlaping of the exaust valve the turbos will spool almost instantaniously solving the other problem of filling the cylinder head at high RPM when you only have 1 bar of pressure. So you have a match made in heven.
