As some people has mentioned. 4-seater mid-engine car has been made before by Ferrari. (+ Maserati Merak and Lamborghini Urraco) And even though they haven't delivered any cars yet. I would still count Koenigsegg Gemera (I would even go so far, and call the Gemera the first REAL 4-seater mid engine car. Cause it's the first one, that actually fits adults with legs, in the back seats.)

from the fellow Evora owner, props for a good lap. I heard Misha mentioning long gearing, and this car definetly doesn't have the original short ratio gearbox anymore, there is no way you could be doing close to 200kmh in 3rd gear. Stock ratios are very short.

Looks like the stock closer gear ratios to me, seems similar to the GT410 I drove. They are still long, but not quite the original Toyota diesel ratios that the gearbox came with.

Those evora's where produced as a "4 seater" to lower insurance costs in the UK and other countries. I sat in the back of these, you can only really fit when you don't have any legs haha

Lotus has always favored a softer set-up with some controlled body roll. It's like a progressively loaded spring that then smoothly unloads. Even though I've upped my Elise to 400bhp, I keep the spring rates pretty much original style because, in the 18 years I've had it, I like its predictable, communicative feel. Misha, you know you want a Lotus :)

After i see this i really like this car, looks very forgiving and comfident pretty fast. Not a huge amount of power but the weight gives up for that. This is could be a great car 'out of the box' if you want to go fast and have something else than a average BMW..

It’s a pretty significant leap between the evora S and the GT (suspension, aero and power) & another larger leap to the GT430 (Ohlins + downforce)

Thanks to the Evora owner for these lovely laps. These are really rear engine'd with the engine on top of the rear wheels. You can certainly feel it in extremis. A great car nonetheless. The GT410 would be more focused for the track and as such is more compromised as a road car. I certainly enjoy driving them.

00:50 just a note: You can use a compressor rather than manually setting the volume. It will sound more clear and less choppy. These settings should work ok, but adjust them to fit your needs: Threshold: -25 dB Gain: 10 dB Ratio: 6:1 To increase the compression you can lower the threshold, this is where it will start to compress. Then just increase the gain until the average speaking is around -10 dB of volume.

That's just going to reduce the dynamic range and therefore also boost the background noise as well.

I am at least suggesting some alternatives to not make it so jarring. I would prefer slightly louder background noise than the jarring effect of manually raised volume like in this instance.

I think it’s really a car you should appreciate more and more with time, especially you can perfectly daily drive it… A pure GT, a real GT. Except maybe the brakes, I don’t see any flaw. Love it. I've never really cared for the Evora , I always kind of thought it was just Lotus bowing down to the demand for a more normal car . James May on Old Top gear used to rally against the industry always testing cars at the Ring. The Lotus Evora S is an amazing car - the best I have ever owned and more like a 'slower' McLaren than the Porsche it is always compared to. Misha's reaction was like .... hmmm ok not bad....but living with a perfect ring car every day would be a nightmare in the supermarket car park. The evora and elise. No and the Evora has the space for a full weeks shopping.

One point is not true. The lotus is not the first and only midenegine car. The first one was an Ferrari Mondial. It was build 1982-1993. the 308 GT4 was only a 2+2 seater. We all know the 308 GTS from tv. Magnum p.I. The mondial was build as a coupe and a Cabrio. So sorry guys . Ferrari was the first midenegine sportstcar with more than 2 seats.

Well evora isn't the only mid engined 4 seater, there was a Ferrari Mondial, Ferrari Dino 308, Masseratti Merak and Lamborghini Urraco. What is interesting the last 3 of those were chosen by old Top Gear trio for "Budget Supercar challenge". And Mondial especially the cabrio version (Yes you can buy Ferrari with mid mounted v8 that has no roof and can seat 4 people) is somewhat a marmite unicorn of Ferrari brand that people seem to find interesting eg. Chris Harris bought one and did a interesting video on it, also there is famous photo of pope John Paul 2 in one as I recall it was used as coolest popemobile during his tour of Ferrari factory.

RX8 is not mid engined, the engine is at the front. BUT, the Ferrari Mondial is a 4 seater mid engine car.

@@pmp1337 my friend there is the thing called front mid engine car.... and Ferrari has produced a lot of them. what defines an engine as mid is if it is behind the axis that it is placed and towards the center of the car. below is a list of cars with architecture and although the RX8 is not in the list it should be. check it's weight distribution and be sure to open the hood of one and see how far back its engine is mounted. it practically in the cabin and the transmission between the seats. from wiki "The RX-8 was designed as a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, four-door, four-seater quad coupé.
