@@malcus8485 I agree 100%. This is Lou facing death head on with a fearlessness and humour that only he could pull off. He faces it head on and will be missed. The only issue I have is the production. This needed a push that someone like Trent Reznor would have done justice. I feel like Metallica just did whatever Lou wanted. They needed a middle man and someone to cut the fat. He clearly looks a bit weak and I'll yet he's still on stage doing what he loves.

Kirk: "That song, I don’t really want to pinpoint exactly what the song is about, because it’s one of those songs that could mean a million different things to a million different people, but what it really meant to me, it had everything to do with the fact that my relationship with my father was just kind of, you know, very emotional. And that’s really what hit it. It pretty much touched up on my own relationship with my own father. It’s a hard one for me to talk about. Even now, bro." The lyrics that apparently got to the two metal men were "Say hello to junior dad/The greatest disappointment/Age withered and changed him." Hammett added, "[Reed] managed to take out both guitar players in METALLICA in one fell swoop, with his amazing poetic lyrics." James Hetfield's father abandoned his family when James was just 13, an experience that the singer/guitarist has spoken about at length in a new documentary called "Absent".

Clearly Reed's influence here is undeniable. But Metallica contributes in a manner which helps LuLu transcend on so many vital levels and makes this a collaborative masterpiece far beyond "strictly for Reed fans". @@michaelkottlerI would say its a lou reed album, but I also agree that Metallicas input elevates this album to masterpiece level. The lyrics gives depth to Metallica they never had before and it brings weight to Reed’s lyrics that he never had before. Just as I understand what you wrote, it brings out the best in both. Still, I definitely think Lou Reed fans have easier to appreciate this than metallica fans.
