Like Jewish Shiva, Irish wakes and different cultural rituals, it is a time for the living to share stories and simply just sit together to help each other and most importantly help the spirit be fully freed into into the Cosmos, December 16 was the fiftieth day and at the Apollo Theater a celebration of Lou Reed's life and work took place with his friends and family gathered with his wife the artist Laurie Andersen all saying goodbye, good speed Lou
BARDO: In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the 49th Day Ceremony is a way to ease that longing. A brief liturgy of readings and ritual offers loved ones the chance to let go. Did you hear that? Wow. Thank you all. And Laurie, thank you for taking us with you and being our mirror as well. Lou's music on the radio in 1966 in Baltimore motivated me to get to know a bit of NYC and the underground. Art requires the light and the dark, but it doesn't have to be mean to force a win, it needs this mirror and opportunities to be included. Energy is awesome. How to feel sad without being sad is brilliant. That is a performer, an actor, a maker's voice and the feel of it shuttles us forward. "expressed as an explosion in the human heart. The power of the heart... " Wow. thank you, Laurie for your sharing your rules "1. do not be afraid of anyone; 2. have a great bullshit detector, and learn how to use it and how to apply it; 3.and be so tender, be opened to the world and be in love with everything and everyone in it.
