Small correction to an otherwise fantastic video: MGK released the BINGE EP a couple weeks following Killshot, with many people thinking it would include a comeback but instead he just put Rap Devil on it to increase engagement (unsuccessfully.) Then the following year in July is when Hotel Diablo came out, which is one of his better projects but as you said, the beef really influenced the reception.

The timing coinciding with him losing a beef with Eminem is just that, a coincidence. Problem is, you have to either be a fan or actively be looking for this information to know about it, and most people unfortunately aren't in either camp when it comes to MGK, so the easiest assumption to make is that he got slapped so hard by Eminem that he stopped making rap 🤷‍♂️. Nobody's gonna look at the full length album or the COVID mixtape that he dropped before his pop punk albums.

Yeah, I don't think I can argue with that. Can't remember any "good" disses of eminem, or any that don't try to paint him as some sort of hip hop colonizer, which isn't accurate. It's probably because rappers usually don't actually try to attack Eminem on his actual weaknesses, instead focusing on things he can't control, like his skin color or where he comes from. MGK couldn't use either of those crutches, being also white and also coming from a less-talked-about area as well (Cleveland). I think what hurt Kelly the most is that: 1) he didn't have the fan base Eminem has 2) He isn't as strong of a lyracist as Eminem is For what it's worth, MGK did his best, but he just wasn't going to win that game.
