I probably won’t find a good lift in M&S the best I’ve found is an Otis Gen2 from 2009

I suspect that they were trying to save money so the lift was only repaired and never modernised, and no doubt they will probably keep repairing the lift until it breaks completely. Only then will they replace it. It was very reliable for the amount of use it had though :)

Liam Walshe yes, this is because the outlet and cafe were upstairs. The cafe had a lack of profits, and the outlet upstairs couldn't hold all of its stock in the little stock room in the corner, so they had to close the upstairs due to being too popular(!) and lack of space.

I don't believe so. This store closed around 5-6 years ago from what I understand. When I went back in 2015 the upper floor was inaccessible and it looked as though it was getting ready to close.
