Love your your videos Mr. Simmons. The information that you've shared over the years falls right in line with my college strength and conditioning coach preached and taught us. And I use the same method when training my athletes, that was taught to me back when I played football in college. I'm a firm believer of if it ain't broke don't fix it. I like like a lot if trainers are trying to rearrange the wheel as opposed to keeping it rolling if that makes sense. Looking back at some if your old videos, falls in line with the bigger, faster, stronger programs that major colleges have been and still are using. Thank you for continuing to share your wealth if knowledge Sir!!!!.

Louie- If you ever have the time, I would really appreciate a video for those of us that are beat up really bad in the shoulders for work arounds to keep our pressing strong. I recently ruptured the long head on my right bicep and my left shoulder has something going on also. I can barely press(barbell or dumbbell) or do dips on parallel bars, but the odd thing I can do handstand pushups, Ring Dips and Ring Pushups with virtually no pain. I've already decided I'm going to push my extensions up and hopefully be able to JM Press with little to no pain. I remember you talking before about if you want to bench press a certain weight you need to have the upper back, lats and triceps of whatever number you're shooting for so thats going to be one of my main focus points. @WestsideBarbellOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Both have their place in a squat training program. At Westside, we will typically use box squats on dynamic effort lower, and free squats on max effort lower training days.
@abrahammendez85734 жыл бұрын
But why such a wide stance just for shorter distance?
@WestsideBarbellOfficial4 жыл бұрын
To maximize hip flexor activation during training. However for competition the stance is usually brought in a little bit for optimal leverage. This is person to person dependent due to limb length and hip mobility.

He doesn't even mention the quads when talking about the squats. I hope people understand the quads are not involved only the very niche weird equipped super wide stance way of squatting he does. It's a weird looking movement but if you enjoy it I guess you enjoy it but I hope people don't think this is the main approach for improving a regular squat.
@rvpouburg25 күн бұрын
Ofcourse he doesn't mention the quads. Conjugate is about improving weak points, and in the wide stance squat the hips and hamstrings are the weakest links. If you think the wide stance squat wont't build a normal squat then you don't master the wide stance squat. It'll give you crazy strong and stable hips, and that will improve your squat and deadlift like crazy!
