This program was one of the most exciting things to watch when it came out, because you just got an email saying it was out, and all you knew was that it was a new show from Louis, and you had no idea what to expect. And then it was absolute genius, and totally different to what you'd expect from Louis, every episode is like a play, the episodes didn't have fixed lengths, you were never quite sure what each episode would be like. I've never had an experience quite like it, and I loved it so much.

I've appreciated Louis in many of his productions. I saw "Hello There" years ago. It's a 4 min short film and I loved it. But after watching Horace and Pete, I was blown away. Steve Buscemi was compelling. "Tree's Lounge", "Fargo" and many other films made me appreciate his acting. But episode 10 still gives me chills, even while I type this.

@ClayMann
@ClayMann 8 жыл бұрын
+RMJungleBerry he's a sneaky one that Louie and we all spell his name our own way. I saw a guy that called him Loosey K, like he was a rapper or something. I didn't even know who he was referring too until I used my brain to assemble things together and I went. Ooh Louie CK! I'm sure you were riveted by that story from a complete stranger.
@joshk.
@joshk. 8 жыл бұрын
+Clay Mann It's Louis CK (or Louis Székely). There's no "spelling his name our own way", that's just misspelling. However, I understand why you call him "Louie CK", as that was a character he portrayed for a few years, that was pretty much just a fictionalised version of Louis, but Louie CK and Louis CK are different I'm afraid.
@ClayMann
@ClayMann 8 жыл бұрын
Joshua Kent well you sure told me. I've been spelling it Louie all along. Oh dear. Well thanks for the correction. It's an odd name for me being a Brit. It's just not a name we use here. Louis in my head comes out as Loo-ess. I think I'll be good to go from now on.
@joshk.
@joshk. 8 жыл бұрын

@joshuahommbre8778
@joshuahommbre8778 8 жыл бұрын
+ffsf739 It is absolutley incredible. The acting alone is superior to any other modern show I can think of right now, yet Horace and Pete delivers on so much more. The fact that every character is treated like a real person makes it so incredibly humane. It's dark and tragic in places yet it's also funny and very pure. I can safely say that it's one of the most honest things I've seen in entertainment.
@ffsf739
@ffsf739 8 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, Joshua. The text is also amazing! There were parts that reminded me of David Foster Wallace.
@joshuahommbre8778
@joshuahommbre8778 8 жыл бұрын
ffsf739 That's great, man! I can't really say that I'm that familiar with David's work, but to me the show had a very strong Chekhovesque vibe because of the organic shifts between comedy and tragedy and also the fact that it felt more like a stage play.

I completely agree with Louie. There have been too many times where trailers or ads just ruin the movie or item that you've been excited to see. It's all hype that almost never fulfills. Like when HP Deathly Hallows 2 was getting hyped up, I think IMDB had a 11 min preview of the movie with just random clips in it from the movie and of course I watched it and when I actually watched the movie, it didn't feel so entertaining to me. I appreciate his enthusiasm for pushing this kind of content into the viewers cos it really is taking the biggest stand of a product. Louie really is a comedic/entertaining genius in every way possible.

When he put the word out on the mailinglist i was like...oh, of course! Like not telling anyone beforehand was the natural progression of the concept he did to his network when making Louie, in not telling them anything about the episodes. But now expanding this idea to the public. He´s in the position of popularity to be able to pull something like this off, and bold and clever enough - being Louis- to actually do it.

I'm so glad someone in the tv/movie business is picking up on not having much advertising! I really want to see films and TV shows without knowing anything prior. Imagine how much scarier a horror film would be or how much funnier a comedy could be!

+Xarko yeah for us brits it's kinda business as usual. We haven't had laugh tracks since Are you Being served and that was made back in the days when Steampunk was real or something like that. It was a long time ago anyway, I could google it, shall i? No, that would be like me saying, hey you're too stupid to know this or even google it! And you probably know the exact date it aired. So I'll leave it there. And yet again I've turned a simple one sentence comment into an overly long paragraph that you'll see in a notification and go, jesus christ on a stick why's he writing all that at me? Get a book deal weirdo! This is KZbin not Goodreads. And I'd have to hold my hand up and say I know, it's not on really.

+Clay Mann My girlfriend made me watch an episode of the IT Crowd, a current British sitcom. I couldnt tell if it was a live audience or not but I cant imagine there are that many people in GB or anywhere else laughing at the truly awful jokes on that pos show. It seemed to be modeled after the parody Sitcom from Extras that Gervais did, When the Whistle Blows.

Eric Veldman IT Crowd isnt a "current sitcom", its like 10 years old.

Eric Veldman the IT crowd is a classic! It's one of the funniest shows there has ever been in our known universe. Here check this....IMDB 8.6/10 from 87,692 votes. It ran for four seasons. You really have to start at the beginning with it and you'll come to love the characters. Unless you are the kind of person that just doesn't like it. I'll admit it only appeals to a certain audience. My mum hates it for instance.

Just watched the first 3 episodes. I'm really happy he made this I was expecting to cry from laughter like Louis usually makes me do but this piece is more of a drama that shocks you with the dialog and quirky characters it has in it. If you love Louis it is well worth the money.

+chingching847 It is really good. The best description I've heard of it is that it is just really damn good "Americana". It is hard to believe a human being could even write something like Episode 3, which I think will go down in history for the quality and depth of the writing and acting. When I think of the episode, I feel like I was watching the scenes being described, not just looking into the face of an actor... Really amazing. I'm two episodes behind, but I'm definitely going to catch up some time soon.
