Louis was hurt because after the band ended, his mum got sick, and he was due to do his first solo performance three days after she died. All of the guys said they'd be there to support him, because he needed not just his actual family there to get him through it, but his chosen family as well, and despite promising to be there, Zayn didn't show up. He also didn't attend the funeral for either his mum or for his sister who died a little over a year later. Louis had always been there for Zayn, never let him down, always stood up for him, and yet when Louis truly needed his friend in turn, Zayn let him down, so, yeah, hurt is the tame way of putting it. Louis' also said that since then, he's tried repeatedly to reach out to him, to contact him, but Zayn changes his number all the time and never responds, so where Louis' still trying to repair their friendship despite being the one most hurt, Zayn's never responded. To an extent, it's understandable that Zayn had to leave the band, he was ill and not allowed to get help, etc., and he was angry about it, fair enough, but he took it out on the four people who were in his corner, who didn't intend to hurt him, who didn't abuse power over them; he misplaced his anger, it seems, and he's said some shitty things over the years, but he seems to have got his head on straight since then and only has positive things to say about the guys themselves. In the two years since Louis last spoke on it, who knows if they've managed to have a sit down and talk it all out or anything like that, neither one has spoken about their friendship specifically since to my knowledge, but hopefully they've managed to fix things privately for their sake. He's more at ease because he doesn't have the same management or label he used to that put out horrible things about him in the media to fit a role that wasn't who he was, he's less controlled by the people with the power around him, etc., and he's also gained confidence that he slowly had stomped out of him with the band. It's been amazing to watch him the last few years regain his confidence and show all of his sides whereas in the band he wasn't allowed to. Louis lets you rip into him all you like, but if you mess with his friends or family, you know about it, and still he's sweet about how he confronts people on it. Overall, Louis was always closest to Harry the most, but I don't think you can really say one over the others, to be honest, not with him, because he genuinely was seriously close with all of them. Zayn was the best friend, Harry was the husband, Niall was the one he loved to make laugh, Liam was the one he could give as good as he got with having a laugh. He loves and protects them all equally, he was the one who truly did have all of their backs more than anyone else. He was the heart, and he was the glue, and I think that's why he took Zayn's exist the hardest. You've also got to take into account that since the band to his, he's lost his mum and his sister, become a parent not only to his son, but also to his younger siblings, too, and he's been through a lot of pain and suffering, lost so much, had things taken from him that never should have been, had a lot of unfounded negative media attention, gives the most to charity and never brags about it all the same, loves twice as hard as anyone I've ever known. That's where the difference between before and now is, he knows how serious life can be whereas before he didn't have as much on his shoulders.

This interview really got me in tears. I didn’t want it to end. The way he expressed himself about Zayn and Liam shows how much affection he has for both of them. The way he still cares for the boys, like the way he talked about Zayn, talked about his voice. I love how he reminisces on how much fun Zayn and he had back in the day when they were best friends. Also the fact that he supported Liam so well. "You are a good person with good heart and you don't wanna hate on someone like Liam" just took my heart. I absolutely love when Louis defends his brothers and has there back. It just shows how Louis is a great human being and can’t stand it when people hurt the people he loves. I love him so much.

I've been following Louis for so so long that during the last years when I watch him in different situations, in different eras, when I look at the man he's become, I keep having this thought that if I'm gonna have a baby boy, I'd try to raise him to be a man like louis. And I genuinely think this is the biggest compliment to any mother and to Lou obviously.❤

I love the part when Louis said he hates the Paul brothers becuause the Paul brothers actually had a situation with Zayn where they did someting to him and they got on his nerves and Zayn got mad and was screaming at them but the Paul brothers went to Twitter and acted like they were innocent and they didn't do anything and tried to act like Zayn was the crazy in this situation when clearly they did something to get him mad. I think thats why when Liam got on their show they really wanted to bring Zayn up in any way just to talk shit about him and i think thats why Louis said they knew what they are doing because they really do know what they are doing.

the Jake Paul and Zayn incident happened way back, like couple years ago. I think Jake was recording for vlog or something and then he found Zayn, decided to go after him and tried to get him in the video, but we know Zayn is very private and he didn't want to speak to Jake. He kept pestering Zayn so Z just yelled at him from inside his hotel room while this a**hole recorded that shit. Logan clearly brought that up for clickbait and shock value, Liam shouldn't have taken the bait, but he clearly wasn't sober, so shit happened.

Psychologist here. In the part where Zach talks about Zayn, Louis shows tons of micro expressions which end is to comfort himself, pain. Louis at the beginning was very close to everyone except Liam. Loosing a friend so close to him I think he will never overcome, forget or pardon. I don’t see any close contact in the future. Particularly that gesture rubbing his stomach (he did it when he talked about his envy towards Harry but that’s another interview) deep pain because friendships during teens to young adults stay forever. Are the ones that last the longest. I think adult Louis is hurt easily by betray and his self esteem plays a good part in how he communicates. I feel sorry for him, to be honestly, having that harmonious tone in his singing. I’m more a Harry fan but absolutely no one can say his singing is bad. I think he’s a very definite place in 1D with his clearly recognizable tone.

the way Louis was talking about Zayn in this interview just showed one thing, and one thing only: they all just needed TIME to heal on their own time from everything they went through as a band. Louis was hurt by what happened right after the split, and that's normal. people should've gotten off their backs and let them come to terms with it instead of taking things way out of context and push them into saying things they were not ready to address just yet. i have a good feeling for the future. they just need to keep being themselves and not let anyone put words in their mouths. which i think they all learnt with time. we're all allowed to make mistakes, it's what makes us human, and that's no different for the 1D guys. as long as we learn from the mistakes and try to do better in the future. and when looking at them now, they most certainly have. really proud of all of them, they didn't have, and still don't have it easy!

I've seen Louis grow up. I grew up with 1D. I was 19 when I started supporting them and now I am 30 and still here to support them, but out of all the 1D lads Louis is the one I admire the most personality and music wise. He definitely grew more confident and became more self aware over the years and I am so happy to see him just be able to express himself freely. Louis is a force to be reckoned with, he is a strong minded person who continues to inspire others despite all the hardship he went through his life. His mother and sister must be so proud, and just happy watching him reach his dreams. I really enjoyed this interview so much and I totally agree with all your observations about him. I'm glad you were able to see him in this kind of setting, a very honest and comfortable interview.

Loved this reaction!! I love how Louis is carefree, funny and sarcastic but very mature, sincere and thoughtful when needed. I'm a Louie and have been following him for so long and not once have I heard him say anything problematic or something like that. You nailed so many lovely things about Louis (and earned a follower in the process!) He's the most bizarre mix of funny, kind, thoughtful, insightful, protective, sassy, and just a "big" personality. I don't even mean that as in loud (which one might think from younger videos); but rather, his personality just grabs attention. Also, I agree with louis about the Paul brothers being disrespectful during that interview with Liam. That whole interview was a set up to diss Zayn and manipulate Liam. I love Zayn and Liam, and the paul brothers and everyone in that interview were just gross. I was also a little disappointed in Liam as well, because at the end of the day he didn't have to answer any personal or disrespectful questions but yeh he was definitely not in a good place mentally when he took that interview.

It’s not so much that he’s “putting it on” in other interviews… it’s more that he’s got to watch his back with other interviews. When that’s the case he leans into the talk points, and sticks to the “professional”, read safer, territory. In these situations he’s hyper alert and his tension works it’s way out through his fidgety movements. His pet hate is someone trying to get a sound bite off him so that they can promote themselves. 👆🏼 is what he is SUPER aware of and gets “controlled” angry at during interviews. When he’s in a “safe” interviews his personality is exponential… because he’s not on guard, watching every sound bite he feeds back.

louis never wanted the band to split up, so maybe he has a bit of resentment against zayn for the beginning of the breakup, but he probably doesn’t ‘hate’ him for that. Tbh by assumption i think the thing he probably things anger about is when zayn didn’t show up for him when his mum died a few days prior despite making the promise he would. But zayn also struggled with his own problems, for example anxiety which may habe been the reason for a no show but idk. i’ve always been a louis girl and he just seems to be the sweetest person ever, and his mum did a really great job at raising him to be who he is now💕

The Logan Paul interview with Liam is interesting when you compare it to his interview with Diary of a CEO. In that interview with Diary, he seemed to talk about more vulnerable things but towards the end of the interview I got a real sense of how Liam struggles and his inability to see what’s obvious to the interviewer. You might want to check that interview out. Diary of a CEO was an amazing interviewer and the final few minutes between them was such a missed opportunity for one of them and I’m sure you will see what I mean. But hey, you can’t see what’s right in front of you unless you are ready to see it. I feel for Liam, and hope he finds his way. Louis - I see why he’s your favourite. He used to be my favourite but now I’m slightly favouring Niall. Louis is incredibly bright and witty but sometimes he has struck me as a little bitter but in this interview he is transcending his bitterness. Even knowing the tragedies that he’s been through, these past few years, it’s easier to have compassion for him when he leads with love and not bitterness. I agree: I wouldn’t want to get on his wrong side. But if he loves you, you will never doubt it.
