Ture. Before porn, a man would have seen max on or two women in his whole life, who most probably happens to be his wife or lover, even with wife there were certain limits. But now, young boys are exposed to thousands of beautifully presented women bodies and boys and men who are having no wife are going crazy in many ways and not sparing even little children. Exposure to women bodies, is biggest curse humanity is facing now and we should all fight against it.

(This is extremely damaging considering the average age a boy is exposed to it in the US is 11 years old). There are countless cases of YOUNG boys younger than 12 who have copied out what they’ve seen in those disgusting videos and raped even YOUNGER girls. Number 4: glorifies cheating, incest, misogyny, racism, sexism, pedophilia (the most popular category is teen that says enough) Number 5: its literally made to be addicted and some men have to go through literal therapy to help stop.why would you want to defend something like that? Number 6: it makes men weak. It makes them give in to their flesh which means they’re a lot more likely to cheat in real life when they’re in a relationship and they’re addicted. Not to mention it’s the cause of 56% of divorce in the US. The only people blind enough to defend it are people who have addictions themselves. Do your research, talk to some people who were once in the industry (I could give you a few) and you’ll see how horrific it really is. It is literally a platform for violent nonces! The idea that it'd be freely available should have obviously started people thinking that a likely consequence was people becoming desensitised and demanding ever more extreme practices, in hindsight it seems obvious. Return the paywalls, just make it an effort to access and far fewer people will be so badly affected. Make it easier to do something else and people will do that instead. Sometimes I get the impression that we're confusing the finger with the moon. The problem isn't porn itself, but the reason why many people, predominantly men, watch it. I don't believe there's a man in the world who, being in a long-term relationship with someone he likes, cares about, and finds attractive, with an active sex life, would prefer to watch a porn video rather than have sex with his partner. If a man has a wife who wants to have sex with him regularly, I assure you, he wouldn't have either the energy or the reason to watch porn. We're not talking about people who give up an active sex life to watch porn, but about those who, for various reasons: sexless marriages, lack of physical attraction, single individuals who haven't found a partner - find themselves choosing between hunger and McDonald's. No sane man would refuse a good homemade meal to eat fast food; if he goes to fast food, it's because he has no other options to turn to. We should work on this: reduce the demand to decrease the supply. It's pointless to block the supply if the demand continues to persist. I have watched several videos of Louise, and while many of her solutions are effective, in others she completely lacks perspective. The reason is that, like many other women who address these topics, she rarely takes the male point of view into consideration. She focuses exclusively on the female perspective and what can benefit women. You can't solve a social problem by considering only half of the population.

I can look back as a heterosexual woman on watching porn with boyfriends and explaining to them that that woman is in pain. 4:30 this is crucial. "say yes at the right moments." once a scene starts, women want to make the time worthwhile. So, halfway through, you can be extreme as f, and they don't want to just waste time, so they do it. Millionaire stars have said they did things they didn't want to just to make everyone happy. If women didn't keep saying years later they felt coerced, sure... But it's clear, too many women can't make a decision in the moment, that doesn't feel coerced, even when no one is doing it. Could I get a scientific journal reference for this claim please or… perhaps she at least has a psychology background? Doesn’t seem like it… But, much more fundamentally, what exactly is the alternative? I fully accept that there’s tons of issues with the porn industry, but I feel they are symptoms of a sick society and we should be seeking to understand what made it sick in the first place. It’s the same argument as for drugs (including alcohol and tobacco, which are by far the most harmful drugs) - you create more problems by making them illegal, so you have to regulate them and address the root causes. People who develop substance abuse issues often grow up without fathers and experience trauma in their childhoods… I would guess (and not boldly claim without evidence) that people who watch child porn have also experienced some kind of trauma. Focus on the root causes and not the symptoms.

Yes, excellent point and I generally agree with you that Ariel Levy and "Female Chauvinist Pigs" were, in one sense, ahead of their time. But what is worrisome to me is that the full extent of internet porn and its harmful impact on society and relationships had not then evolved to the situation we are in witnessing today. In retrospect, Levy efforts seems not to have had the desirable adverse impact on the phenomena still unfolding before us. Between Levy's book and Louise Perry's volume so much has changed--and for the worse--that it beggars belief. This is especially true in terms of the violence against women that occurs in porn as well as the violence against women that Perry documents occurring in parallel in the contemporary "hook-up" dating culture. Having read both, to those who have read neither work, I would suggest beginning with Louise Perry's book, then turn back (in time, so to speak) and read Ariel Levy's volume. Perry is sounding not only an alarm, but her prescriptive recommendations are far more radical than Levy's were. My only quibble with Louise Perry is that after finding one's true soulmate, children should follow. I am still searching for my beloved, but I have no desire for children [and I hope she won't either].

Then there was the argument that "no means no" followed by "women should say no when they mean no" (logically that sounds that no means yes, but I don't want the responsibility of what yes allows). I don´t think you get that part of the argument- there´s a comment above from Maxwell Benz which explains it pretty well: 4:30 this is crucial. Women like to please, and thus, we get coercion, even without men needing to do anything. this can apply to some degree to regular sexual relationships too, but that´s definitely an easier context to say "no" than when you´re in the middle of a porn production. If you think about it, it´s shockingly similar how even in a conventional workplace, people (esp. if they are good at their jobs) get hit with more tasks down the line that they didn´t agree to, originally- do they usually say no? I doubt...

@@pencilany So saying no in the right time is a universal problem? Then why only apply it to porn?

It’s certainly confusing.

Just a presentation critique…that clapping the hands because you’re nervous is quite distracting.
