In this video I do my first 600 mile oil change on my Z900RS. I purchased all of the oil and the filter from my local Kawasaki dealer. If you have any questions leave it down in the comment box. Instagram / michael.chap_

Super useful. Will get mine next week, so it's nice to see a thorough walkthrough of the oil change process. Will probably let the shop do it for the 600 miles one, as I also need to go there to install the heated grips. But you have showed that it is super easy to DIY. Thanks for the video.

just ordered my New z900rs-SE comes with Brambo/stele braided lines, new suspension, cain't wait, doing same exhaust, how you like Florida, lots of us Cali people moving there, Love your Gov. Man!!!

Hell yeah that Se is a beautiful bike and the upgrades are nice, I definitely want to do the Brembo's and KYB suspension on the rear. I have lived in FL and love it here just make sure to not vote for the same bs politicians there are in cali lol. The akro exhaust sounds beautiful with the stock can I definitely recommend it.

@@MChappysGarage hey, I really like the Kal bike, keep looking online to see what I can find out, I found one at a dealership in Maryland .se model, couple of?, Is there any plug in for phone ( ok really stupid ?), But I saw someone posted about plugging in a heated jacket, that's new to me, I've been out of the bike game for 6 yrs, I'm in NC, just asking

add a hose clamp around the filter and snug it down where the stop is against the 14mm crank bolt. Filter cannot come off. This is something I learned at race tracks that required it to prevent oil messes on track and protects your bike.

Such an easy bike to change oil. Drain plug is horizontal and draining for oil pan and filter are so close you can capture everything with one small receptacle.

Thanks very much for this, very useful - 2 minor comments - personally I prefer to change the oil when the bikes fully hot especially when access to the drain plug and filter is easy as I think more impurities will be suspended in the oil, and also if you take the filler cap off before starting to drain the oil it usually comes out a bit quicker

FYI. Any good type of oil will work just as well as Kawasaki brand. Oil is oil. Filters are a bit different but do the same. Good 👍 job besides my comments. I have the same bike bud z900rs 2018. Red. Bad ass motorcycle

Can I ask what you polish your headers with ?? They look really good , I’ve been using autosol but not sure if there as shiny as yours .

The last couple new cars I've had recommended first oil change was 6000 miles. I don't get why motorcycle first oil change is 600 miles. That oil u were draining looked really really good. Anywho, I'm old skool and want a z900rs. Thanx for a great instructional vid!

Bike engines are generally speaking much more abused than car motors lol, most cars I’ve had I’ve always changed around 3k miles if they are brand new. Oil is cheap new engines aren’t

@Michael C I don't run my bikes or cars hard. It's a money making thing Michael.
@HORNET64 ай бұрын
Can’t compare the two as bike oil has to deal with engine, clutch and gearbox. Bike motors rev much higher.

Hi Michael, Good video, I have a 2020 Z900RS Cafe that I bought used with 130 miles on it. I'm more than sure that this summer I will be changing out the break-in oil. Curious to know where you heard that you shouldn't use synthetic oil for the first couple of thousand of miles?

How many miles have you done now? You keep things plain and simple and I was wondering if you'll be doing anything similar for air filter and plugs? However, I'm yet to be convinced that either really need replacing at 7.6K miles

I see you did what i did. I also took off the headers and put on aftermarket, mine are Delkevic. Have you also had it flashed?

Ótimo vídeo, sou do Brasil tenho uma Z900 RS 2022 da mesma cor da sua. Também faço a troca de óleo em casa uso óleo Motu 10W 40 e filtro de oleo original Kawasaki 16097-0008.

I'd recommend K&N oil filters. X-High quality, but they also weld a 17mm nut onto the head of the filter body which makes the loosening part easy with a ratchet, and 17mm socket, especially if the oil is hot. The nut is "holed" for safety wire. And you can get them in a chromed body if you want. It's a KN-303 for the Z900RS. If you video your mileage, and change you won't have a warranty issue with a top end filter.
