Anton is a genius. I thought the same thing when I watched the movie again not long ago...The modern woman symbolism was riddled throughout the movie. Like when her friend overseas spoke about the lifestyle she had...How the men "loved her" and how she was a "celebrity" over there. That woman was trying to convince her how glamorous her independence and celebrity status was but deep down I'm sure she was lonely. Women tend to realize later that the life of floating through men and feeling special eventually wears off and without a family everything else seems meaningless.. That movie has some gems in it and Anton nailed it on the head.

This is a funny conversation. Perfectly displays how people's initial perspective, how they view the world and certain themes/topics can completely shift the way they could watch a movie and pull different things from it. In the movie she made choices that were ultimately to her detriment. If you're not objective and have any bit of "Women can't do no wrong" kind of mentally then you'll see the movie through IslandGyal's view. The bottom line is that we all make choices that lead to benefits in one area and drawbacks in another area. Basically common sense but it's a hard thing to swallow for women who think they can put their all into a career and simultaneously put 100% into a relationship that would give a man everything he wants out of her. At least not for the type of men most women would typically like to be with. Two career oriented go getters in a relationship rarely works. He wants his other half, not more of what he already is lol
@mobrown1198
@mobrown1198 Жыл бұрын
Everything so well stated. Logically put. Only thing I disagree with is the “lol” at the end. Should’ve been an exclamation! This is reminiscent of having conversations with many women today. What I’ve found is that trying to get them to see things from a different perspective, is generally futile. Not impossible, but it is rare. It is like a woman has to be hit in the face with a brick, before they truly and fully understand the consequences of one’s actions will eventually come to pass. Lol Perhaps that was in bad taste, but the message is clear. Many western Modern women don’t understand that their ultimate power comes from them being in their divine feminine nature. They have been sold fantasy, they have been encouraged by older generations of women who help script the fantasies. It is like they’ve (most) have read the same book, and they view life through that very lens. That very fantasy. Now there are new Fantasies, one that includes the Baby Boy myth as I call it…. Single mothers with their boy child in the home until, some felon, or reformed street dude, or a variation of both. Who also has the ability to take care of all their physical needs.

This is so very hard for Women to grasp. The dont see that Focus on Careers not jobs is consuming yet you hear women complain about Men being consumed by their careers and not giving them and family enough attention. Another example is when a boy is best friends with a Tomboy. When does the relationship deteriorate? When either one succumbs to Nature and developes "Feelings" for the other. Women claim to be smart but continually ignore that their speech and actions have consequences.

He doesn't really need to. The film kinda made the point that old boy wax a bum after getting hurt. It's not really about how actual basketball players get paid. Anton is right about how BB play get paid, but the film didn't really portray the reality of that. @Humanbeing, The movie wasn't wrong.🙄It was fictional. The movie represented the situation exactly like they wanted too. It's a movie for women. Basically a chick flick to watch on date night. They know women for the most part don't know enough about basketball to spot out the unrealistic aspect of the film. They wanted women to leave the film feeling like they are the focus. Of course as men we know wnba players don't make 💩. And that male basketball players have guaranteed contracts. That's why I said it's a feminist fever dream. I think the director was a woman if I'm not mistaken. It's propaganda.

Out here in Los Angeles most of these hood relationships are more like what was shown in Baby Boy. There are countless Jodies, Melvins, sweet peas, Yvettes, and rodneys roaming around. What was shown between Jody and Rodney is how a lot of these gang wars started btw. In fact, I think Anton needs to start breaking down these relationships in these movies. She felt that her mother hid behind her femininity, dotting on her father needs and wasn't happy.. She watched her mother put everyone first. She didn't understand that you can be feminine and still be career driven and independent.

@@trippin9298 from a single person standpoint, being feminine does not make you dependant upon any one. Marriage is a team effort Ole school marriages where the husband would lead the woman in her femininity actually ran the household..

IslandGyalQ really is a bad influence. She represents the most delusional segment of women in our society and tries to prove a point in this conversation based on her delusion. Anton broke it down eloquently and she was still chirping. It's like she was clapping back just to have something to say or try to have the last word. If you don't know how certain things work just say you don't know and receive the information so you have a better understanding..

What is duty? This is the question Love & Basketball asked. Modern women don't have the answer, because they want it all. Men are done, we are getting our passport. Accountability arrived July 2023. Again as a WARNING-- SINGLE WOMEN ARE UNPROTECTED. Stay safe, please. Salute "Passports Up!"

She can't understand that a 20yr old lottery pick CANNOT JUST take a veterans spot in most cases immediately. She's that ignorant to how basketball works, but still has no problem trying to demean someone of their accomplishment or place in life. Even while being an ant in comparison to bench players in the NBA. These women really do have a God complex.. it's like the girl I met as a cashier at Walmart. She felt a 6 figure salary is nothing bc she knows millionaires on Instagram. She's making 25k or below with that mindset.

KeriESpencer presented the idea that women like the female character's mom were unhappy and seeing her sadness caused the young women to fight against settling into a feminine role. There may be some truth to this, at least in a general sense, but she failed to mention that women from that mother's generation became increasingly unhappy with the traditional female supportive role due to corrosive feminist propaganda that was already influencing the western world at that time. Women of that generation weren't quite yet practicing feminism as actively as modern women but they had already been poisoned by it's ideas via 70's-90's sitcoms, talk shows, soap opera's and other media's increasingly feminist views and association with other women who accepted such rhetoric wholeheartedly. This covert brainwashing made many of them resentful of the classic mother/wife role and incapable of seeing it as a source of fulfillment. And yes, the girls being raised by these women took note of their discontent and low to mid-level resistance towards their men and adopted it; then multiplied it ten-fold.

5:50 what this young lady said encapsulates the mindset of most women today. What she fails to realize is that Q made it to the NBA, which is an accomplishment on which leads than 1% achieve. This same mindset will tell men who make more than the average salary that they are not worthy unless they make more than 6 digits (nevermind the fact that they themselves make far less).
