One thing I can't stand about this show's reunions is how they treat the people who chose not to get married vs the people who got married. They really don't challenge or hold the married couples accountable for their behavior. Matt was aggressive and abusive and no one on that stage called him out on that. Not the hosts, other participants, or Colleen.
@EnjoyLife-op5rn2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Also, Alexa was male bashing with the other women at their last meeting before their marriages, saying that "all men are stupid." She also said that Cole was a child and not as emotionally mature as Zanab to Zanab. But it was Zanab who trashed Cole at the altar and didn't even contact him to process the rejection (unlike how Bartise handled his rejection with Nancy). Alexa also joined with Zanab about Cole getting a women's phone number at the Bachelor Party even though there were no men that substantiated that the men had spent time with any women. Cole was right about Alex's false accusation while she and Alexa were hanging out with male strippers.
@mimiad3972 жыл бұрын
The show will never challenge the married couples lol they are just happy somebody got married and proved "love is blind" eventhough it isn't. There is always this idea that the married couples won somehow lol meanwhile those who didn't get married get the grilling and questioned about everything. I do not understand why they showed Matts outburst when they 1. Refused to show the aftermath in the episode after and 2. Didn't even end up questioning him about it during the reunion. Things like this just make the show and experiment itself seem so fake

It's her body language, his behavior and the laundry day for me. Like ohh noo girl. As someone who has been abused in all the ways by my deceased partner of 8yrs, I agree w/everyone's comments. If not physical, he definitely shows major signs of emotional/mental abuse. I have sat that way as well during so many family functions where he did all the talking and I sat there w/no affection while he did and I explained everything away to try to make it seem it was good when it was not. Laundry day, to me, sounds like her day to be w/out him so she can breathe. Mine would accuse me of anything if I was gone doing anything and I get that energy from this. It's uncomfortable that they made her have to sit thru that when he's right next to her making her relive that right next to him. I bet for sure they fought on the way home to wherever they went from that uncomfortable experience they were contractually having to be part of. We also have no clue what has happened in their private time this entire time btwn the show filimg and this airing... being alone is where the real abuse happens. Just from my experience, obviously no proof of it beyond what we see but that reads pretty clear to me.

He could be being protective of his nervous wife who knows her mistakes will be brought up, or he could be being controlling. We can’t know. What we CAN know is that Matt needs to be in therapy and some couples therapy is also probably a great idea. There’s hope. There’s reason to pray for her. I think the danger of reading into someone's body language is not always necessarily that you might falsley pick up on something remarquable, but rather that there could be a million reasons for why someone seems and is uncomfortable. Personally, my first thought after watching the reunion was that she was nervous about addressing her flirting with cole and how her personality and the relationship came across, not about the current state of the relationship. I think I would freak out in a situation like this, even if I was not made to be a villain at all. I often wonder how many of these people on reality TV take vaium or Xanax before attending a reunion, partly because in some shows like housewives they jokingly address this.

I literally picked up the same thing… she’s acting very strange, she knows what she got herself into just because she was in love or obsessed with the idea of being married
@STasugx2 жыл бұрын
I think what Colleen suffers from the most are the viewers/commenters. The viewers are the ones who lambasted her for the pool scene. The viewers are now the ones who are vehemently describing their relationship as abusive without any actual proof (just sensitivity and feelings). She even confirmed what she was feeling in the reunion, but the viewers infantilize her by disregarding her statements and continuing to push this narrative onto them. Even if the viewers are right, they’re doing more damage than good at this point and need to let the couple work things out on their own.

My husband was in the process of posting his townhome on the market to sell it. And we waited for all that to be over to buy our house, new house. I just didn’t want to move in only to pack up and leave when the townhome sells. We’ve been married for 5 years now and living in our our new house. So in essence I started living with my husband 5 months after we got married. We did hang out every day and we slept together and cuddled etc It’s sort of like continuing to date despite the fact we are legally married. For older couples, we cannot plan everything perfectly with his house and my house etc

Apparently I'm really fired up because this is comment #3 for me. That said- the saying Love is Blind is a cautionary saying- like don't get swept up in the moment or in lust- so basically the premise of this show- to settle in love. You know, because you end up ignoring red flags along the way. So yeah....

I really wish that in all stages of this show the cast had access to individual and couples therapy so that they could have a better chance of addressing the issues they are dealing with…
@moriel16262 жыл бұрын
Here in Germany it's even quite normal for couples to live apart, even married couples (some german couples also never marry but that's unrelated). Some people need more space than others that way they don't fight as much also for some people, who have been through an abusive relationship, it's important to stay independent.

They show (meaning production and hosts) lost their sight completely. They keep saying it is "experiment" but are so judgmental throughout the process with their editing and the way they hold the space during open conversation at the reunion. They fail to remind the cast that there are no rights and wrongs in such scenario as this is not an ordinary way to enter the relationship and marriage so there is no rights and wrongs in how people handle either the breakup or the fast-tracked marriage. Pushing "the lease" topic as if them not living together needed some additional explanation while them getting married after 2 months and reconstructing their lives within that time instead of few years like in "ordinary" relationship is left with no commentary at all. It takes away the shows' credibility and honesty making it another highly produced, guilty-pleasure with no substance TV show :)

I saw an interview with Colleen (Matt was in the background getting ready for work). Matt lives and works in Fort Worth. Colleen lives in Dallas. Neither want to move. They seem fine. I think Colleen was uncomfortable about the reunion and having to relive fights

Idk about her body language here, but I'm definitely worried for her given his behavior and escalation of issues during the season. He has a hair trigger and seems very insecure and jealous. And instead of going to therapy, now she has to manage his issues. Could potentially become abusive quickly. Frankly, by my standards, he was already emotionally abusive during the season.

It seemed like she was desperate to pick any guy..she wouldn't have left that show without someone. If not Bartise or Cole, then Matt. It just seemed she didn't care 'who it was', she just wanted a relationship. Then she settles on 'abuse'.

I think he's shielding her from Cole, and I think she is terrified to look in Cole's direction. I'm guessing he's made her feel horrible about Cole and their exchange at the pool many times since the show ended.

Unpopular opinion: I really don’t think Matt is abusive. He has does have traumas, but he doesn’t come off as being abusive to me. I believe she was scared of people’s comments and backlash during the reunion. And I think that is why Matt is kinda wrapped around her to make her feel secure in that moment.

I think Matt is a ticking time bomb and she needs to run. He hasn't healed from his ex wife cheating on him. Seriously Colleen, blink twice if you need help.

I think everyone should watch Colleen's reaction to this before we say Matt is abusive. Colleen said her body language here and the way she's talk is because she was being bullied online and she was afraid to speak at the reunion because of how fans were reacting. As someone who was emotionally abused I think we need to be more careful throwing around accusations if you're not actually going to do anything/can't do anything. Someone mentioned his body language was hovering but his body language also could have been protective.

Or Colleen is actually being bullied at home by Matt and is covering for him. I've heard nothing that would make me believe she's getting bullied like that online. Most of us are thinking she should blink twice for help.
@lav71612 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree only because of how Colleen has never showed how she can stand up for herself. She's a sweetheart, the only way I can agree with you is if we had any evidence of her ever standing up for herself during the show and that was never any example. There's was plenty of examples of him being super insecure and carrying his past relationship problems into his new one.
