This song was written by one of the great storytelling songwriters of her generation, Matraca Berg. She has written hits for a host of other country artists and has also recorded many of her own songs. There are so, so many great ones, but I would start with "Eat at Joe's", "Lying to the Moon", "Back in the Saddle", and "Alice in the Looking Glass".

There are a few country songs that hit you whether you like the genre or not. I had mentioned on another video about the kids being grown, moved states away pursuing their career, and the wife having passed in 2015. This song brings back those "strawberry wine" memories. She was 16 and I was 17 when we met. September will be 8 years since her passing, and even in that short amount of time it feels like a dream. I turn 43 this month and it feels like my memories are another person's life, if that makes any sense. Loved the reaction, and hearing ya'lls love story!

It's funny - I was never a "country" person but I always liked every kind of music tbh. There was a period in the late 80s and then again mid-90s where I really got into it - I was going through a bad breakup so you could hear lots of music like this coming out of my grad dorm room. Shania, Faith Hill, Mindy McCready, Terri Clark, so many singers that I really enjoyed at the time.

“We Danced Anyway” is another great one from her. Beautiful voice. Patty Loveless is another gem in the country genre. You’ve heard her sing with Vince Gill but she had a great solo career. “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” from Austin City Limits is a masterpiece. Give her version a try before the newer collab with Chris Stapleton tempts you. Her version without him is much better, imo.

When I was stationed in Egypt with the MFO, the boys and I used to sing-a-long to this at a British Bar called The Wild Geese. Great times !!!!!

Mx. Deana, the daughter of legend Fred Carter Jr., is a beautiful artist and here are two of my favorites by her. "Did I Shave My Legs For This" and "We Danced Anyway."

I'm 67. Been thru a few relationships over the years. Recently reminded my friend's to think back to the first time they felt that magical little heart tingle with their mate. Some times are awesome while others are awkward. Funny how some of the most awkward are the most successful.

I gave my dad this CD as a Christmas gift in around 1996 or so. He thought she was so pretty. Once he listened to the record, he really appreciated her amazing talent. Great singer. 👍

She had talent, no gimmicks. I wish more artists who have real, raw talent were rewarded. Rather than those who do stunts publicly, or have to be wrapped in dramatic controversies to become globally famous.

Bittersweet song with her Classic Country vocals 💗🍓. Tidbit : Deanna is a Carter as in June Carter Cash who was married to Johnny Cash 😉. She would perform on stage barefoot, it helped with Stage Fright.

Funny story, years ago, I went into a house, I was in real estate, saw all these CMA and ACM awards. So happened, the home I was in was one of the writers of this song, among many other country songs he won awards for. I had never heard of this song either, I learned ❤

A great find guys. Now a Classic country song. We have another fantastic one in CANADA that I would LOVE for you to react to. Terri Clark is an amazing vocalist and storyteller. She Didn't Have Time - is one of her very best - and will really pull at your heart strings. Amber she's PERFECT for your next female Friday. Northern Girl and Better Things To Do - are her other biggest hits. Would truly love for you to check out She Didn't Have Time first though. Official video if you can. Hugs!

Love Terri Clark! I felt like she was the female version of the “back to the roots” male singers like Randy Travis or George Straight. More substance than flash, just great songwriting and a great voice. Her original album was one of my favorites.
