Earliest version of "Love of my life" that I have. I think Queen only started singing this song live for the "News of the World" tour. Live @ the famous Houston leg, 11/12/1977, Houston, Texas. Includes a short intro by Brian May.
My all-time favorite Queen ballad!!!! :-) Awesome vocals by Freddie (as usual).

Brian talks about his parents flying iver for this concert. it was the first time they had seen Queen live. his father was against him going off with a band, but backstage, after this show, his father told him "I get it now". It is so special to see this early version of one of the most beautiful songs ever written. To hear Freddy sing it all the way thru without any audience participation, is stunning. This was such a personal song for Freddy but he gave it to his fans and, in later shows, let us join in. Thank you Freddy

+ Anna BananasI did, in the 70's to Night At The Opera! It was wonderful! I'm now 63 and you should really listen to the editorial that was written about that album. It was done after Freddie died and if is really good. They (the band) thought that Bohemian Rhapsody should NOT have been the single, and they were really surprised when it made it! It really is excellent and I know you would appreciate it. I watched it on You Tube about 3 years ago, so it SHOULD still be here!

@Tasneem Azim your mom and I are about the same age. It sucks though. I mean we can see Queen now, but we dont have Freddie! I'm not good with adjusting to new frontmen in a band. Hell, I dont think I can even go to the Fleetwood Mac concert without Lindsay Buckingham. I saw Stevie Nicks a couple of years ago. But I'd love to see Fleetwood Mac, oh well, same with AC/DC.

Agreed, I think as far singing and a display of Freddie's vocal brilliance it's amazing and the greatest exhibition of it in it's simple splendour, but Bohemian Rhapsody is the greatest song ever in my opinion, like "Time" by Pink Floyd it's 3 songs packed into one absolute masterpiece.

So much better than the recorded version on the album with all its overdubs, over instrumentation, and manipulated studio effects. All you need is a good accompanist like Brian May on a 12-string, an appreciative audience, and Freddie singing his heart out in front of you in the same room.

I love how he sticks to the original recording more in this performance. In other performances he doesn’t hold the notes out as much as this one. Very beautiful!

Its about a girl named Mary Austin. Her and Freddie had dated a long while in the early seventies. She and him split up when Freddie told her he wanted to discover his sexuality more and experiment and when he discovered she had settled down and married another man he was crushed and wished he hadnt broken up with her because he always said he loved her more than anyone else he'd ever loved.

@@luixpaproductions yes, the concert at Madison Square Garden is the first time Brian's parents saw him perform. He flew them over on the Concord (which Brian's dad actually worked on as an engineer) and it is at that concert they learn what a special, talented, awesome son they had and how good Queen really was.

This was how they started out singing this song. It was only later that the audience started singing with them. I love this video because I see how it began and I can compare with later concerts.
