Just think JM, two years ago you had no real idea or knowledge of what we call Classic Southern Rock. They all have at least one exceptional guitarist, most have two or three and the live shows were exceptional fun to see. You must feel so much better now with your new knowledge because we know how much you love to learn new things.... Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, The Allman Bros, Marshal Tucker Band, Black Oak Arkansas, ZZ TOP. Molly Hatchet have all been added to your Playlist so far.... I just smile again.

One of the most dangerous combinations was Molly Hatchet; Flirtin with Disaster and a L78 powered 68 Chevelle Malibu heading down I70 as fast as I could go heading to Denver. I raced a Porsche 911 to the Eisenhower tunnel. Later I said good bye! At least this was the story told to me.

I can remember when the music of Molly Hatchett was first released in the 70s. Everyone was listening to them. It's almost impossible to believe every member of this band is no longer living. I enjoyed your usual excellent reaction. One of my favorite songs is Boogie no More. It is similar in composition as Free Bird/ Lynyrd Skynyrd and Highway Song / Blackfoot.

One real handy piece of advice is if you are going to listen to this while driving, set your cruise control. This is one of the songs on the OG "Give me a speeding ticket" list. Golden Earring - Radar Love, Nazareth - Hair Of The Dog, Head East - Never Been Any Reason, Golden Earring - Twilight Zone and Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55 are all on that list as well (among others). That will get you started though

if you had asked members of Molly Hatchet they would say that they were very similar to British rock of the time like Deep Purple and Judas Priest. Guitarist Dave Hlubeck (pronounced - Loo-Beck) wrote this song after a near fatal motorcycle accident. Molly Hatchet has a unique line up in which there are 3 guitarists - Dave Hlubek, Steve Holland, and Duane Rolland Singer Dann Joe Brown lft the group after this album to form The Danny Joe Brown Band who had a minor hit Edge of Sundown. Two albums later DJB rejoined the group for their album No Guts No Glory. He stayed with Molly Hatchet until health issues forced him to retire during the recording of their eighth album Devils Canyon

As soon as I walked through the door, my buddy jumps down off the stage (they were doing their sound check) and runs up to me. He says "Monch, I got someone I want you to meet". He introduces me to Stevie Holland and sits me at the table with him.(Stevie wrote this song) I got to spend the whole night hanging out with him, digging the music. He was a pretty cool guy.
