Now she should see and listen to the live recorded BBC Old grey whistle test performance by Bob and the Wailers ... cannot remember if it also featured the I 3's. The other possiblity is Playing for changes version featuring Bobs son... and incredible artists from across the world.
@sunshynff3 сағат бұрын
Well to be fair, this was originally released in 1973, and if you think the Western world, especially the U.S., had a problem with Ice-T and his song "cop killer" in 1992, you can imagine how they felt about Bob "shooting a sheriff" in the 70's, in fact the original lyrics used the word police, but his manager and label asked him to change it to something like Sheriff, which implies someone more specific. Eric Clapton, a well known racist, released his soft rock cover in 1974, and it remains his only #1 Billboard hit to this day, so it's very plausible there are people that think this is a Clapton song.

@simontemplar335918 сағат бұрын
This is a fantastic mashup and I agree about how Ren is comfortable and capable in terms of using his voice as an instrument. The thing that amazes me is the chemistry of the band. Each of them could be a front-person but they all just keep it humble and do what serves the song. The unsung hero is Romain Axisa though. The noise he gets on that Epiphone Sheraton is amazing. I swear he left his body playing that solo. Music is a divine gift. The guitar has been a source of joy to me for almost 30 years of playing it. (not nearly as well as I should with that much practice LOL)

You know what I loved about this reaction, or more specifically you, it's not that you made a goof by saying "ya know this really sounds like Reggae" when it's a Bob Marley cover, but the fact that you handled it so gracefully and were able to laugh at yourself. I know we're all a work in progress, but that shows incredible progress as a person, and that you "get" what life is all about and what it is to be a happy mature person. Bravo my dear!! Plus I do that stuff all the time, Eric Clapton covered this song too, as a rock song, and it was a big hit for him, I meet people all the time that think this is a Clapton song.

I feel that one of the things that differentiates a musician from an artist is that the musician plays the music, the artist feels the music. It’s the expression of that feeling that draws us in, deeper and deeper, time and time again. This band is so special because they are each very talented in their own rights and they all put the art , the music, and their love and respect for both before anything, ESPECIALLY EGO. It’s why they don’t have a frontman…they have 3!

People used to say to me " I hear you are playing and singing in a band Pete. What kind of music do you play ? " ..... genuinely baffled by the question, I would always reply " Er, music with chords, melodies, harmonies and songs with lyrics ... is there any other kind of music ? " ..... to me, exploration of all genres .... or hues, and original creative expression is the only true kind of art. Ren is a true artist, in every sense of the word. You always give us excellent reaction videos Nikoletta, thank you

What a delightful little reaction to stumble across this morning. Out of maybe your usual listening genre perhaps Nikoletta your giggle when realising it was a Bob Marley song was classic, the UB40 reference had me grinning so of course I have them running through my brain now too. It is definitely a style that I think that Ren and the rest of the boys from The Big Push have mastered and one of my favourite busking videos that Ren has posted.
@joshuawiedenbeck69442 күн бұрын
Ren said that the 90s in the US saw a massive surge in hiphop/rap. Simultaneously, Brittain saw a huge resurgence of reggae/ska in the form of tm"The Police," Sting, etc. Ren said that singing this style made you cool in the same way that someone who did hiphop was cool in the US. Edit: You should watch the video of Ren doing "Fly me to the Moon." You are correct that he is able to do Micheal Buble, lol.

Wish I'd've caught this live six hours ago, but alas... When you say about the emotion that artists pour into their music, "being in the moment", a saying I like to use (and I don't claim to be the author of this, somebody else might've said it first?), "Music is the only human language capable of truly expressing emotion..." as in no spoken language can do it. Sound is simply vibrations through a medium (air for example, also water). Our bodies are 80% water, so no wonder our very spirit can resonate/harmonize with the music that touches us :)

Each song pays homage to Bob Marley in some way. "I Shot the Sheriff," of course, is a Marley favorite. "Road to Zion" was originally by Damian Marley, Bob Marley's son. "A Little Bit of Luck" is cheeky. It was originally by DJ Luck & MC Neat (and later sampled by Bugzy Malone). It doesn't draw from Bob Marley at all, but, of course, Marley did have a song, "Help Me Make it Through the Night. Finally, Dead Prez use a Bob Marley quote, "one thing 'bout music, when it hit you feel no pain" to open Hip Hop.

Okay... so if you dive into the Hip Hop I'd suggest Genesis Official, The Hunger, did you do Losing It yet? But there's a ton of incredible Hip Hop in Rens rabbit hole. However that being said, don't take song suggestion for Rens Hip Hop from his Hip Hop based fans as they will have you in his miss catalog right out of the gate. This is where his lyric's are undeniable but his approach to the production and vibe get iffy for those more inclined to prefer melody. And some of it is darker and get's a little less relatable. But I will say this... Here's a bit of a Ren Road map for you based on what I know of your channel and taste. Love Music #3, Money Game #2 the Official Lyric Video, Money Game #3 (This one is pure Hip Hop Theatre SO GOOD), and Losing It, Genesis, The Hunger, and Murderer Official & Live are all so next level I can't possibly do them justice. There's a ton of fun ones to do What You Want - (this is a nod to the Beastie Boys), Crucify Your Culture, Hold On, Humble, Penitence, Dear God, Insomnia, are all breaths of fresh air for Hip Hop. Let me nod my head at Heretic, Diazepam, and Insomnia; these 3 are incredible but are outside of the Hip Hop genre. More in the alternative genre but incredible. There's this signing he does in Heretic that I know will melt you. Also his Mackay (pure musical bliss & and the scenery incredible) You'll cry only because it's so moving! His Bitter Sweet Symphony retake (kind of Hip Hop) is incredible as well - I'd start with the Official Video 1st and maybe do the Live right after in the same reaction? Everybody Drops, and Ready for You are also both good. Not my favorites but they are some people for sure. Same as with Dominoes and Depression, Not my favs, but they are for some. Some More Hip Hop that was good: Illest of All Time is good, Troubles, NAS Halftime retake (is FIRE), 7 Sins is a pretty incredible artistic Hip Hop track. Love music #1 & #2 Solid and fun. some people's favorites. Sick Boi Really Good (tells Ren Story and is Essential) but dark and emotionally heavy. Uninvited Lyric Video (probably Ren's best Pop song ever. Very well done! But the content is steamy and will make you blush, however it's done in a very cheeky kind of innocent way). Slaughter House is a solid Hip Hop Track but not sure if it's the best fit for your channel. Crutch is amazing melodic but dark (not Hip Hop) Also some other good ones are Troubles (Hip Hop) King Dotta Diss (Caution as it's gets a little graphic as Rap Battles do) But ends with grace unseen in hip hop. Eden is spoken word art but well done. Caution should be used with the following: Down on the Beat (which I do like), But this gets a little raunchy in a way that may not suit your channel. Animal Flow misses me and there's a couple on his Sick boy record that missed me although it too is loaded with bangers. Loco missed me, Masochist missed me (too dark), Love music #4 missed me. Kujo Beat Down - (very dark kind of subject matter, great for hip hop/maybe not the best for your channel)? Wicked Ways (missed me but many like it). This is the Bulk of his Ren catalog. But think of this comment as a bit of a musicians manual of Ren. There are more that everyone else can fill you in on but these are what I feel are must hit and/or must use caution takes on Rens Catalog. No matter what you listen to you can't deny his talent and skill level. Keep it up though we love your reactions!

Got to admit I'm not keen on live reactions, as the reactor tends to be focused more on the chat, than on the performance. I'm sure it's great fun live but can be frustrating to watch as a recording... All that said, I still enjoyed your reaction! I always do. It's why I subscribed to you some time ago! :) If you haven't reacted to "The Big Push - Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard" I recommend you do so. It shows yet another vocal side to Ren, as well as some magnificent bass playing from him. It also showcases the talents of the other band members really nicely. :)
