Bad Moe That’s exactly what I miss about the glory days of aviation. When passenger aircraft such as the Concorde shook buildings. For as much as I like the Dreamliner, Airlines today are too quiet on the outside :). Really cool you got to see the Concorde fly in person. I had a chance as a kid but never went to see it.

That constant high pitched sound sounds exactly like the flaps extending and retracting, but they are seemingly not moving a lot of the time the noise is there! And the noise is there when the flaps should not be being altered such as whn the plane is already thundering down the runway about to take off. What possible explanation could there be for this? Maybe the high pitched whine of the engines on this plane sounds exactly the same as the flaps almost?! hah
@Token_Nerd
@Token_Nerd 6 жыл бұрын
My assumption is that they're pumping hydraulic fluid to a pressure in which the flaps can be pushed out, since it requires a lot of work to counteract the movement of wind over such a large area. I don't know why the pumps are so loud for the 787 specifically, but I honestly quite like it as an avgeek.

All aircraft have them. Wingtip navigation lights. Red on right green on left. Some aircraft have white also. Tail has white. These are to make the aircraft more visual to other aircraft and controlers. If you are talking about the the bright colored lights on the wing that is a reflection of the lights below.

This is why I have always, always enjoyed flying--if private, Military--whether helicopters, twin engined transport. That is catapulted off. This is when I was aboard the USS Midway CV41 overseas, on Westpac cruises. After that, a helicopter ride around Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Then even more flying. But. Even before that, I flew aboard prop airlines--just before jet liners became public used! Of course more than I can say now...

Hi. I'm shooting a music video. I stepped upon your footage. Is there a way I can get this footage without the watermark and use it in my videoclip ?

Sounds like the Airbus 340/380 when the flaps go down. Am I right?

@ LoveJT8D: Where were you flying from? I heard the pilots and flight attendants say that flight was to LAX. I saw gate 153 where the plane left from. You must have started at a very huge airport. Wherever you started had a very beautiful view.

What is that eletric buzz that started just when the flaps were being extended? It is louder than the engines!
@LoveJT8D
@LoveJT8D 8 жыл бұрын
+Andre Boardman Yes it was quite loud. I have read online that this electric "whining" sound is attributable to a hydraulic pump that assists in the deployment of flaps.

The sound of that hydraulic pump running would drive me NUT! Why in this day and age Boeing can’t isolate that sound is beyond reason. BTW, you can also hear a similar sound on the Airbus A350, but only when the flaps are in transition, then it stops.

Although I don't really mind the pump sounds, it does seem the excess hydraulic pump sound contradicts the peaceful 787 experience.

why would they add more weight (means more expensive fares) for isolating a noise you hear just couple of times a flight.. During landings and take offs.
