That constant high pitched sound sounds exactly like the flaps extending and retracting, but they are seemingly not moving a lot of the time the noise is there! And the noise is there when the flaps should not be being altered such as whn the plane is already thundering down the runway about to take off. What possible explanation could there be for this? Maybe the high pitched whine of the engines on this plane sounds exactly the same as the flaps almost?! hah
@Token_Nerd6 жыл бұрын
My assumption is that they're pumping hydraulic fluid to a pressure in which the flaps can be pushed out, since it requires a lot of work to counteract the movement of wind over such a large area. I don't know why the pumps are so loud for the 787 specifically, but I honestly quite like it as an avgeek.

@theboi8088 жыл бұрын
sounds like hydro pumps? correct me if im wrong
@dphorgan8 жыл бұрын
It's from the motors deploying the flaps. it uses a spinning shaft that originates from under fuselage portion over the wing. That's why it's so audible. It is surprising it is so loud having on the brand new 787.

+LoveJT8D Yea the motors for the flaps. It is surprisingly loud for a new 787 though.
