A fun little snippet, In The Empire Strikes Back After being connected to the Millennium Falcon‘s mainframe, C-3PO tells Han Solo his ship “has the most peculiar dialect.” he's talking about L3.

Personally, I loved this movie a lot. I know a lot of people were disappointed that Harrison Ford was replaced by Alden Ehrenreich, but come on, he was 75 years old when they made this movie so what are they supposed to do? I thought that Donald Glover stood out as young Lando Calrissian, capturing the suave and clever personality quirks of the character with real flair.

Hey, Laurenn! I'm glad you enjoyed "Solo" because I feel it's a bit underrated. It's supposed to be a madcap hustle through the galaxy's seedier side. Originally, it was meant to be a trilogy but it suffered a negative backlash mostly from being released shortly after the controversy surrounding "The Last Jedi" and from reports of production difficulties like changing directors well into filming. Veteran Ron Howard completed the movie. I do hope they follow it up because it gets really interesting there at the end and I felt the cast had great chemistry! "Solo" is set 13-10 years before Episode IV. This is the early Imperial period and the Empire is still pacifying resistant worlds. This was Darth Maul's return to live-action played again by Ray Park! During this period, Maul is no longer associated with the Emperor. Darth Vader is the current apprentice. Maul runs the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate. His return to galactic affairs after surviving being cut in half by Obi-Wan is chronicled extensively in the animated "Clone Wars". There's a deleted scene that should have stayed in the film which shows Han getting drummed out of Imperial flight school and reassigned to the infantry because he refused to comply with orders that put fellow pilots at risk. The Imperial officers felt obedience was more important than the acceptable losses they would have incurred. The Imperial checkpoint woman didn't double-cross Han and Qira as most reactors believe. Those were Proxima's goons who snatched Qira. The checkpoint lady honored the deal but called for Imperial security to break up the fracas! The positive attributes of "Solo" are: -- a busload of talent including Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover and Paul Bettany -- a brash, swaggering turn by Alden Ehrenreich that captures Harrison Ford's spirit -- the first meetings of Han, Lando and Chewie -- an excitingly vertiginous mountain railway heist -- the wildly imaginative Kessel Run sequence in which young Solo achieves his claim to fame of making it in 12 parsecs while tangling with a space-borne leviathan -- a glimpse into the early Empire's pacification of resistant worlds -- the twist that Enfys Nest is actually leader of a resistance cell and not a pirate -- the flurry of double- and triple-crosses at the climax -- the re-integration of Darth Maul into live-action with Ray Park reprising the role after the character's incredible return in the animated "Clone Wars" -- the revelations that the 'Millennium Falcon' was designed with a lifeboat that filled the gap at the front and has a top-tier navigational database from the L3 upload -- Han learns to fire first Han firing at Becket pre-emptively cutting him off mid-sentence was meant to rectify the digital alteration of having Greedo fire first upon Han in the cantina in Episode IV. That change made by Lucas to the Special Editions of the Classic trilogy still angers fans! Lol. Han is supposed to live a rough, dangerous existence and gallantly waiting to be fired upon first not only dilutes his character but is insanely reckless! The only negative plot point is that the menacing Enfys Nest is unmasked as a petite young girl! It's too much of a leap and beggars belief leading to eye rolls. An adult woman would have been fine and equally unexpected because of Nest's gravelly modulated voice. A cool-looking alien would have been even better. Surprise stunt-casting of an unexpected celebrity would have been the best of all! Erin Kellyman was grossly miscast. The bald, gray alien with the breathing apparatus and eye lenses among Nest's entourage is Benthic Two-Tubes, a Tognath. His eggmate was seen in "Rogue One" as one of Saw Gerrera's partisans on Jedha. Clint Howard, Ron Howard's brother who is cast in every movie he directs, ran the droid fighting pen in the gambling den where we meet Lando. Warwick Davis, the star of "Willow", formerly Wicket the Ewok and Star Wars' lucky penny, played one of Nest's gang. He was the little guy! The gangster Tobias is referring to is none other than Jabba, the crimelord of Tatooine! Jon Favreau voiced the Ardennian Rio Durant, is the showrunner of "The Mandalorian" and basically runs Lucasfilm with animation head Dave Filoni. You may know him as the director of "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2" as well as for playing Harold "Happy" Hogan in the MCU. Those golden dice are the same ones that make a return appearance in "The Last Jedi"!

Hey Lauren, if you remember in Empire Strikes Back, when Han and Chewbacca were trying to fix the Falcon when they were hiding in the asteroid field, they'd had C3PO interfacing with the Falcon, Threepio made a reference to the Falcon having "A Peculiar Dialect" Now you know why

Lucas got the inspiration for Chewbacca from his Alaskan Malamute named Indiana; which is also where Henry Jones Jnr took his name from…..becoming Indiana Jones. When writing Star Wars, Lucas used to drive about Northern California with his dog in the seat next to him; like some sort of furry co-pilot. Joonas Suotamo; the 6ft 11” tall former basketball player turned actor, does an amazing job as Chewie. He started out being a body double for the original actor Peter Mayhew in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as Mayhew's age and worsening health was making it more difficult for him to fill the role. He went on to entirely replace Mayhew in Star Wars: The Last Jedi as Chewbacca, with Mayhew as a consultant. He returned to the role in Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Glad to see you and many other fans are gaining an appreciation for this movie. It's one of my favorite "Star Wars" stories, and my absolute favorite of the Disney era. If you're interested in more stories like this, check out "The Han Solo Adventures". They're three novels by Brian Daley about Han & Chewie's adventures before the original movie. They're among the earliest "Star Wars" spin-off books (published between 1978 and 1980, before "Empire"), and this is the closest we've gotten to a movie version of those stories.

Oh, the individual titles are "Han Solo at Stars' End", "Han Solo's Revenge" and "Han Solo and the Lost Legacy". And, after "Jedi" was released, L. Neil Smith wrote three books about Lando's earlier adventures on the Falcon. L-3 isn't there (she was created for this movie), but he does have a droid sidekick. Those books are good, too.

The big shot gangster on Tatooine Beckett was referring to was Jabba the Hutt. I thought Solo was a good movie. It was all in Empire Strikes Back... Landon: What have you done to my ship? Han: Your ship? Hey... Remember you lost her to me fair and square Also remember this one. C-3PO: Sir, I don't know where your ship learned to communicate but it has the most peculiar dialect. L3 perhaps. Also... We saw The Kessel Run that Han boasts about in A New Hope. As far as the Gangster in Tatooine who was putting together a crew.... Jabba The Hutt. Great Video, as always, Lauren. Keep up the good work. And remember. People who don't LoveLaurenn are the kinds of people who tell Han Solo the odds. Don't worry I'm sure C-3PO is an exception. I'm sure he and R2-D2 also LoveLaurenn.

The Imperial March playing on an in-universe advert in the space port proves that the music is canon in the lore. This leads to headcanon where when the Emperor lands on Death Star 2 in ROTJ, there's a stormtrooper orchestra just off screen playing it for him when you hear it in the soundtrack.

Hey Lauren, heads up there were tons of production problems in the making of the "Solo" movie. The original directors, Lord and Miller ( of Lego and Spider-verse fame) have a chaotic way of making a movie that didn't fit well with Katleen Kennedy (head of Lucas Film at Disney). So they pulled the plug on them. So everything up to the Coxium heist is Lord and Miller and After that is Ron Howard. Lord and Miller finished about 2/3 of the movie, but Disney didn't like their vision. Ron Howard had to come in and tear down all their sets and redo half of the movie. AS you know I don't like the flow of the second half of "Solo" and I think it's due to this change in directors. Oh BTW, after getting the boot on this project Lord and Miller went on to direct the Oscar Award-winning Spiderman - Into the Spiderverse. You should check it out for sure. it's pretty mind-blowing visuals.

So, Chewie kind of has to save his people when he sees them. Because he's a leader of the Wookiee people. Bacca is actually a title, like King (this was Expanded Universe). He was also in one of the prequels & was titled Commander or General (i forget which & dont want to look it up rn). Wookiees believed in Life Debts, & because Han saved him, that's why he follows him (in this movie). Chewie in the Expanded Universe lived to be over 800 years old & died by being crushed by a moon after saving as many people from the planet as he could. Love the Wookiee.

Nice reactions and outro to the Solo movie, Laurenn!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I believe the big shot gangster putting together a crew on Tattooine is Jabba the Hut. Yeah, they did have a little banter about Lando owning the Falcon in "The Empire Strikes Back". Phoebe Waller-bridge is the voice of L3. Thanks to this film not doing well at the box office, other planned films became a series on Disney +. The droids being set free reminds me of a scene in "Wall-E". Probably R2-D2 is my favorite droid, followed by K-2SO "Rogue One", then L3-37 for me.

I know a lot a people didn’t like the inconsistencies with the Kessel Run. The famous line “It’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs,” was challenged by this movie as Han seems to keep fudging the number. But it’s actually a nod to a note in the New Hope script that Han was bragging to make himself a bigger hotshot and Obi-wan was not buying it. Han was a scoundrel and will lie to benefit himself.

Hey Lauren, I think "Solo" was cool. It was not the strongest of Star wars movies like 'Rogue One", but it was cool. I like thefirst 45 minutes of it. Until they meet up with Crimson Dawn and come up witht he off the cuff plan to steal the raw Coaxium. After that I think the movie flounders a bit unitl Lando shows up and charms the pant off of us. After that it was cool Lando and L3 moments. I think for the most part the second half of the movie was a bit disjointed in terms of story, but great on character interactions.

I have some nerdy lore that kinda ties in this movie and Rouge One, basically that all beings have some level of force sensitivity but in order to weld it you needed an extremely high amount. Han had more than the average person which helped him without him really knowing it piloting, but nowhere near enough to truly weld it. Chirrut in Rouge one was the same way, used his limited connection with the force that was obviously there to sense everything going on around him even though he was blind. Maul was always the leader of Crimson Dawn but had to stay hidden so the emperor couldn't find him and kill him once and for all, although Dryden and Q'ira couldn't weld the force he trained them well to be the figureheads and shown exceptional swordsmanship w.o welding the force. PS last fast nerdy lore, you see one of Nest's group members look familiar? 2 tubes, he is the same guy that in Rouge One was Saw's 2nd in command that took Bodhi in and captured our rouge one crew after seeing Cassian shoot one of their men.

The movie recieved mixed reviews by Critics and bombed at the box office, making $393 million dollars against a $300 million dollar budget, killing any chances of a Star Wars Spinoff film. The original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller who brought us The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, directed the film, and after showing Kathleen Kennedy 90 minutes of footage, she told them their service was no longer needed. She said in an interview that the movie was more of a comedy than a serious action adventure film. Ron Howard was brought in to do 2 months of reshoots, and became the new director.

It's still strange to me that Disney green lit a Han Solo movie, without Harrison Ford, in the first place, but I enjoy the movie more after repeat viewings.

Is it my favorite star wars film? No. Is it still absolute fun star wars film? YES. The only thing that REALLY disappointed me was how they gave him the name Solo in this film, which is completely different from the old Legends continuity.

Love this movie. I always said the writers failed with the last 3 movies. Rey should've been the love child of Han & Qi'ra. Then Rey & Finn could have been the couple. Han is a catalyst for all types of issues. Qi'ra could have left to pursue her career, not knowing where Han was. They never address what happens to Qi'ra & she could've been made to be, The Supreme Leader.
