I read this book when it first came out, and actually got to be an extra in the movie when I was 14. I was so excited, since I really enjoyed the book. I met chloe, nick and even the actor that plays the main villain bc he stepped on my foot on accident during the scene where the military people are loading the kids on the bus. I was randomly chosen to be in a group of other kids that stayed near the action - I guess for “continuity”. Idk. It was a really great experience; they were all so nice! I got paid like $500 and even when the shooting was long they’d always have snacks and shit and even the adult extras that were around were really nice and helped keep all us kids entertained. Two years pass. I watch the movie. It’s awful and never gets another two movies to follow the book series. I never speak of it again till now.

Mexico only allows 2 month stays & you have to apply if you want to stay longer. Even then the max is around 180 days.

I read the whole trilogy this year, and I honestly cannot believe Rick Yancey, the author, was on this set. So many important plot lines were changed, and I hated all the changes. The 5th wave is a pretty good book series but the movie, in my opinion, wasn't very good. In the book, it's Ringer (or Marika) who figures out about the chips. Not Ben. And the person Ben is shown and asked to kill was supposed to be his friend Chris. Not some random kid. And so many characters weren't given justice. I mean no hate, but as a sort of fan of the book series, I was let down by this movie.

*SPOILER ALERT* So I read the second and third book summaries and basically, Ben, Evan, Sam, and Ringer survive and Cassie sacrifices herself to destroy the Other mothership before it can bomb the Earth. Evan is not an Other but rather a Silencer which is a human that has been enhanced by the Others' 12th System which enhances his human anatomy and makes him believe he is an Other. The reason the Others attacked Earth is because they wanted to destroy the dominant species on the planet: humans, so that other species could thrive and by destroying all traces of civilization the remaining humans would be in the stone ages and never be able to recreate civilization so they could be equal to the other species on Earth. P.S. they have done this to many other planets because they are such environmentalists. Also, Vosch is one of only 12 Others on Earth who know the full plan and the rest are SIlencers who believe they are Others.

The concept (at least from the trailer I have seen) sounded cool until I heard there was a love triangle in it. The one thing that turns me away from reading modern apocalyptic/dystopic books is the unnecessary love triangles/romance that doesn't help the plot move forward in any way. To be fair I didn’t see it as much of a love triangle, Ben was her high school crush, someone she liked at the start of the movie, and then she slowly falls in love with Evan, as she grows up in this crazy world and actually builds a connection with him, it wasn’t so much a love triangle to me as it was one person and then another, she hadn’t seen Ben since school

20:05 Idk romantic situations to seem plausible to an extent in apocalyptic events, because heightened situations would mean heightened emotions. Also, when the world is ending and you have nothing to lose, you would go all in in terms of romance. I do think that romances should be side stories to the main plot though, not the main plot device. Idk, like the hunger games books were more based on revolutions and overthrowing the dictatorial sadistic government, but the movies were always marketed like a love triangle, which really takes away from the main point of the books honestly
