*Spoiler: The "emo kid being a witch" cliche works for me because devotion = "stan" = analysis expert = people who notice things others don't. I'm guessing this is a modern trope bc people nowadays can show a strong devotion to x (astrology, niche pop culture, etc.) and connect to that community at-large. This allows them to start discussions using agreed upon terminology to analyze otherwise unoticable clues. So when the film shows that the witch girl knew about the actual crush, I'm certain if she explained how she knew, it would be something ridiculous that the main characters wouldn't get and would brush off. (They might've shown her explaining how she knew, I don't remember.) TLDR: the "weird" kids be doing their own thing, knowin something we don't, and couldn't begin understand how.
