Thanks very much for this video. I've owned Poodles for many years, but have never seen anyone give such a thorough brushing out job. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My Poodles have an every month standing appointment with our groomer. It makes it so much easier for the groomer and the owner to take care of the Poodles. Of course, Poodles have hair (not fur) and their hair needs to be brushed daily, just like human hair. Again, thank you! Excellent video!

After 18 months of learning the hard way I think I’ve finally figured out how to keep my moyen poodle relatively mat free. Thank you so much for this video and I was thrilled to see the Chris Christensen spray - I just got the conditioner and detangler in the mail today and am in love with their Mark 2, I wasted so much money on all the wrong brushes! I keep seeing pin brushes and am debating if I need one of those too.

Thank you so much for showing me. I was thinking about standard poodle as my next dog, but I don´t have patience for this brushing and I´m inconsistent. But whenever I asked experienced people, the answered: "Oh, it´s not big deal with sport cut you have no work with it, you just shave him once a month. It´not that bad." Well they were wrong. And my worries were reasonable. Thank you.

I’ll tell you keeping them brushed is key. If you don’t do it at least (least!) once a eeek, you’re gonna have mats. Then you go from nice long coat to having to shear them down to the level of the mats when you have to take them out. I groom my two doodle mixes (shih poo and Shepadoodle) (gsd mix). Using a spray when combing and brushing is important, and having them clean when you give them a full groom will help mounds. I would also advise saving for a professional clipper, a table and a splurge would be a forced air fryer. I have the shernbao 4hp snd it was around $175 and will pay for itself over time since I have two I groom at home. I bought the supplies my friend who is a groomer recommended and it’s improved our grooming success tremendously. Mostly, we get quality time with them and that means a lot! ❤ plus, we know we aren’t hurting or compromising them 🎉

Amazing and informative video! I was wondering if it was possible/what kind of brush to use in order to keep the tighter curls in the coat or would a short coat help maintain the curls? What affect would this have on matting? I'm looking towards getting a poodle and I really prefer the tighter curls, but I still want to make sure the dog is well groomed and matt free so that it can be comfortable and happy while working in hotter weather. Any advice would be much appreciated and I apologise if this question has already been answered. Stay safe everyone!
@LoveofGrooming4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the best way to maintain the curls is after the grooming session must the coat with water and the hair will curl back up. Use a comb and not a brush to maintain curls. It's a lot of work to maintain curls. The more curly the more mats can form. Daily combing is ideal. You can still use a brush to brush the coat daily and then must the coat lightly to curl back up

I’m really interested in poodle and poodle mix coats! I’m an assistant stylist and I think I’ve learnt more through KZbin than I have in my actual salon… it’s nice to know the different uses for each type of slicker! The CC brushes have a weird hold on me, I can’t wait to be able to afford them 😂
@GenericScreenName8082 жыл бұрын
I just got a mark 2 for mine and I’m so obsessed with it; almost 10 years ago I got a Mason Pearson hairbrush for my birthday and I swear it brings me joy every single time I use it (this justifies the cost in my head lol) the CC brushes remind me of those, you can’t even compare them to the junk chi ones I bought at petsmart. Check resale shops online like Poshmark, every once and a while you can snag a gently used one for a bargain.

He is going to the grommer since 12 weeks old always with treat and favorite toy. However, he does not like it and pull away. I feel bad for him and I am wondering if it hurts him? I have had NO problems brushing my nice clean dog as long as he never gets wet-in the dew, a light rain, playing in sprinklers. I find that having a healthy dog that gets exercise and goes out in the early morning dew is incompatible with clean medium or long hair on legs. Body is easy, legs are a nightmare. They have to be blow dried everytime he comes in. I gave up at around 15 months, because i had to go out of town to care for a family member and nobody but me would ever keep up with that. Short hair it must be, which is a bummer. My big male has such a beautiful parti-coat I just love it. and he likes being brushed too.

@ivyrose7793 жыл бұрын
I’ve done research about grooming poodles and doodles and my only experience with them is my 5 month old doodle, so keep that in mind. I feel like you can get by with just a comb for a while as long as you keep them mat free. After that, to me, it’s fine to get a slicker brush that works for you to use in addition to your comb. The slicker brush tines need to be long enough for your dogs coat. Once you get that down and get more experience under your belt, you can decide if and what you need to add tool wise. Imo, it’s silly to say that you must have all of those different combs and brushes for at home grooming.

Rip the skin open? This has never happened in over 40 years of Grooming and never heard of a groomer saying this. Why would you think this? Are you a groomer? Most likely combs can rip skin if used incorrectly.
