Probably one of the best DIY van builds I’ve seen. Never over complicated and well put together, really enjoyed this. Gave me the confidence to really get out there and do it

I think so too, a really good simple guide, if you know how to do it properly it can be easy and cheap. The main complications come with leccy and gas and its an area where many self builds fall down. That said if you do it properly and know what your doing and get it checked by a pro....go crazy. I think diesel heating is really good, I like the Webasto gear....Ooh I would like to have that in a van.

I’ve watched so many of these types of videos but both this one and the transit Shaun did last year are the best simple guide videos I’ve seen. I think he should do more of these build videos along side his adventure videos.

Keep it simple the best way to convert a van. People get carried away and spend a fortune creating a hotel room on wheels. For me camping is to get away from that and live life simply for a few days, weeks etc. This just shows you dont need to spend a fortune to get out and have some fun in a van 👍

As a retired female who’s never had a van, you’ve given me hope to do something like this. The way you did a step by step and showed all your flaws, has been excellent. You’ve been the only one that I’ve come across that’s went that much in depth and explained things so clearly along the way. Your information has been invaluable. I don’t subscribe very often, but have done so with you. This has been so enlightening, after I finish renovating my flat, I’m definitely going to have a look around for a van. Thank you, thank you

Really great result and brilliant that you did everything in a way that was easy to replicate. So funny that you put in white tiles onto a white wall. However you left out the obligatory fairy lights and bunting 😛

Quick tip for the cab curtain. I screwed mine to the end of my tongue and groove instead of to the cab headlining. That way I had something straight and flat to attach the rail to and I could hide the slightly uneven edge of my roof at the same time. It also covered those open edges where the bulkhead used to be.

Really nice simple build. Absolutely ideal for small trips. I reckon a solar panel is the only thing that's been missed to complete the job. If you're parked up and the batteries are low, you could find your fridge turning off pretty soon. Solar is very cheap and easy to install.

Solar is good but to be fair if you’re only away for a couple of days like what I am the dc to dc target is more than enough

A tip from my very old woodworking tutor was to use a new hacksaw blade to cut foam. It worked a treat for when I was making a seat box for my old VW camper. It was far better than a bread knife, jig saw or stanley knife. I know this because he got us to try them all at night school.Test it out for youself if you've still got the off cut from your mattress.

Great build, great to see it finished ... even if there's a window to see magically appear on the near future! I hope the back rest isn't 2" too short for forming the bed base ... the off-cut could have a cover to act as a filler, but may not have anywhere to live in 'day mode'

I love the “anyone could do it.” Trust me, even if I had your tools I could never do that. But the first part, sound deadening, insulation etc, was really inspiring as I want to do that to a small van then purchase a Campal boot jump type unit, that I can do. My only regret is that your van already had plywood lining, would have loved to see how you did that. Anyway, time for a beer, I’ll buy you one first.

On a budget build why not source some second hand bits. For example loads of toilets available like brand new for £20 on FB market place. I'm building a Renault Trafic high top campervan with fixed rear bed across the back and just bought a second hand (like new though) 6" thick double memory foam mattress for £20, it was £195 new from Argos. I just need to cut it to the size I need with electric bread knife.

Everything was sourced new with links to the product so anyone can follow along and stay in budget. If I got everything on the cheap other people would try to replicate the build and end up spend a lot more. This is supposed to be a easy to replicate build

You’ve absolutely nailed it with this van. One question. As you can’t get from the back into the cab area as you have the electrics box, why not leave the bulkhead in. I also like the van look outside so I think I would put in rear door windows rather than side ones.
