Looks Great! Although I've had the same problem with Valspar in my living room, and turns out it was the paint that was used prior to me painting, so cleaning would do nothing because I needed to buffer the Whole Wall.. or add whatever so many coats, if I didn't buffer the wall first... I'd take the painting vs. buffering any day lol

Beautiful transformation, I personally would have painted the peel and stick wall green so the gaps wouldn’t show through, but other than that it is gorgeous!!!

I didn’t realize there would be any gaps at first. The first pack fit together perfectly, but the next ones weren’t cut quite the same

Valspar never works for me. I always go with Sherwin williams I love it. One coat and im done . ( there are always a few areas that need touch ups but over all the Sherwin williams showcase brand is wonderful)

I’ve never had an issue with Valspar before. It’s the brand I’ve used in every project I’ve done. I’m pretty sure the issue was the color. 😩

@@lovinglifeasmegan looks amazing, great work! alabaster is a Sherwin Williams color. They were the original paint company that created that color. I won’t buy any other paint than Sherwin Williams! It goes on like butter with one coat! Amazing stuff!

I recently painted my son’s room with Valspar, a brand that we’ve used countless times with great results. I used a green color as well, and panic mode after first coat too! Second coat was a charm. I think it was the green as well.

It looks great! Just a few suggestions. I would have spackled the big gap on the green wall and would have painted behind the toilet. A new faucet would have been a nice touch also. Overall very pretty!

Most dark colors are like that, you have to paint 2-3 coats! This happened to me when I was painting bears room a dark Gray ☺️ I can understand the panic though lol

Hi Megan! You did a beautiful job on the bathroom! A couple of notes...I think your light fixture might be bronze? Regarding the paint, it's possible that the walls needed to be wiped down, which I would do before painting a bathroom and definitely a kitchen, but more likely that the existing paint was oil based. I don't know how old the house is, but oil based paints haven't been used much iinside for quite a while now, however, someone may have decided to use it in that bathroom for durability. I'm sure you know that's not necessary as long as you're using the right finish of latex paint. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's entirely possible that you might need to repaint. Moisture from the bathroom is very likely to cause the paint to rub off easily. In case you don't know, there is a primer created for going over oil based paints so you can then use latex, which is much safer. In the future, if you're not sure what you might be dealing with, clean a small area of the wall with soap and water, dry, then rub it with a cotton ball and a bit of alcohol. I think nail polish works too. If there's any paint on the ball, it's latex. It's kind of amusing for me because I learned about all of this many, many years ago when I moved into a BASEMENT apartment that the previous tenant had entirely painted the same green you just used, lol! It was like being in a cave it was so dark! 😄 When I started painting the walls white, it wouldn't adhere. That's when I learned that he'd used exterior oil based paint. 🤦 Looking forward to seeing your next makeover! 😊

All shades of green are hard to paint with. When I first bought green paint at Home Depot many many years ago the man at the paint counter told me I would need twice as much because greens are just difficult! But we love the green ☘️💚

You should really get the edger tool for painting that Amanda’s husband has in her new video they just did painting their media room !!! She said it’s so amazing and easy , plus fast & helpful !! Joe this helps you out lol

That happened to my husband once when he was painting in our house. I think sometimes if a room hasn't been painted for a long time the walls get dry and it's soaks all the paint in. . That's when you need to prime first.

Any heavily pigmented paint is going to need multiple coats to achieve the true colour. Any rich reds or bright yellows will do this. Its common. Sometimes you'd want to use a tinted primer as a base coat, that can cut down on the coats needed (I have painted a wall 8 times for a yellow to look good)

Again I love it ❣️❣️❣️ I have been redoing homes and was an interior decorator and designer for over 20 years but I've ripped homes down and completely redone them several times... So I have a little tip for you If you were to take just a small artist brush or a little small paintbrush and use the green paint on the wall and paint the little lines of white that you can see that are from the peel and stick tiles not lining up right or completely correctly but just paint those white little lines that you even see You would never notice that that's a feeling stick tile 🤔❣️❣️❣️ Just a quick fix idea for you 🥺❣️❣️❣️

It's normal for dark colours to need more coats than light colours. More pigment has to go into the tin, leaving less room for the elements that increase the coverage.

Quick tip: use a tinted primer for better coverage when using dark colors. I had to learn that one the hard way when using burgundy. Took so many coats without a tinted primer.

Beautiful job as usual Megan! I had the same experience when I was painting my kitchen walls and found out I was using a water-based paint to go over an oil-based paint and it was not sticking! I did three coats and still didn't get full coverage! It wasn't until weeks later when I talked to my father-in-law that I found out what the problem was! I don't know if that's what might have happened in your case but for future reference always try to stick with the same kind of paint. I'm sorry you had so much trouble but it looks incredible! 💕

I love this. The only thing I would do different is I would finish painting the other walls and ceiling the green so it would be a fully moody bathroom. But we all have our own point of view which is what makes it all fun and amazing.

I decided to paint my bedroom black because I wanted it to feel moody like this painting I saw at a store and I started with one wall and it just wasn’t enough so I did the rest of the walls and the ceiling and it turned out amazing. I've never used Valspar but I have noticed that colors that are heavily pigmented (i.e. dark blues, greens, reds) normally require at least 2 or, more often, 3 coats. Good job though. The bathroom looks wonderful.

For the green wall- you may have had an oil base on the original wall making the water based green not stick well

Darker/ brighter colors made to a transparent base are always two-coaters. Absolutely normal. You can ask your supplier to double the paste that goes to a formula to make it easier on you next time.

Most dark colors require two to three coats. Even the Sherwin Williams, which I love and use often, the one coat paint in the darker shades almost always require two coats.

I got a can of Valspar paint that did that. I was disappointed that I had to give a big bedroom two coats and I went back and got another brand of paint. I liked the Olympic paint that Lowe’s did have.

I really love the color choice for the walls, and the tiles look great. I'm glad you continued it all the way up the wall. I think it feels a little unfinished without a rug/small runner on the floor, and there's no handsoap by the sink. Or is it there but just wasn't included in the final reveal? Either way, great job overall. It looks soooo much better than it originally did! 💚
