There is hope!
It's my goal that you can learn from my experiences and save yourself some time and pain in the process of your low back rebuild.
One of the biggest realizations I had when stuck in my injury loop, was the concept of matching my capacity to my demands. Whether this was sprinting, squatting...or just sitting and standing.
Seeing this more as a math equation put the power back into my hands. Through consistent training of the low back directly, I began seeing relief from all the former triggers of pain.
For more guidance or coaching on these principles, shoot me an email at lowbackability@gmail.com . We limit the slots for each month to keep it a more intimate coaching experience...so it is on a first-come basis. We will always try to accommodate the best we can.
Regardless, I am rooting for you fully!
Bless!
Brendan

Im 26 but I feel like I’m 67. I have been suffering from back pain for about 3 years now I got hurt from deadlifting. For about almost two years I couldn’t do anything I love wether it’s working 10 hours and gyming right after. I couldn’t work or workout at all. I finally found a therapist that eventually got me back to walking properly and be able to do daily task. I started going to back to the gym in September and now I go every other day because that is what my back would allow me to do. If I hit the gym for a day that’s it I really can’t do anything else my back will be exhausted fatigue sharp stabbing pain and I would have to do a bunch of rest and recovery. I don’t really touch my back at the gym because I am to scared to get set back to doing nothing I am completely traumatized of possibly being restricted from everything again. I would like some serious help and get back to working and gyming in the same day without pain in my back. I would love to get back to doing pull-ups something I always enjoyed but now I’m scared to even try a pull up. Thank you for your encouraging words in the IG groups because some days I just feel completely lost and in constant lingering pain.

Hi Brendan, Great and informative video mate. Just wanted to bore you with my story so that you can suggest the best way out possible In 2020, I herniated my L4-L5 disc with a mere sneeze. During diagnosis, my doctor told me that my L3-L4 disc is also protruding and may cause another such incident in future. In March 2023, history repeated itself and this time it was my L3-L4 disc. I am 31 now. I used to play football and cricket in my school and college, but after I started working, I couldn’t find time to play again. I want to restart my journey on field. But don’t know how and moreover I don’t have the confidence in me. My family is always concerned about my back, which sometimes makes me kind of irritated. 2 months back, I came across your KZbin channel and start watching your videos and following our tips and exercises. Currently, I am doing all the exercises you have mentioned. I start with 2 minutes Couch Stretch, followed by 10-15 Split Squats on my bed corner because I am not sure if I will be able to do it properly with both feet on the ground. Next, I try to do 10 reverse Nordics, but I am only able to reach an angle of 45-50 degrees and then I come back because I am not sure if I will be able to touch my back to the floor and if I do, would I be able to come back up. Then I try few forward bending calf stretches and 2 leg elephant walks. Then 90 degrees box with 10 reps for each variation and then 3 pigeon stretches on bed corner each side. Standing QL-20 reps, 10 butterfly and pancake hold for few seconds. But recently in few of your videos you have been talking a lot about 3 trap raises, back extension holds etc. This is confusing me if I am on a right track or not. I prefer doing my exercises at home. I have a pull up bar and dumbbells at my place. Can you please answer some basic questions in your next video- 1. Do I need to do these Back Mobility exercises regularly or I need to do them on alternate days? 2. Can you talk about the proper form and points to remember, and reps count and sets for the exercises I have stated above? 3. Can you discuss the workout at home variations of these exercises so that I go to gym for the next stages? 4. If I must do these exercises on alternate days then can I do pushups, pullups and biceps curls in other days so that I can train my other body parts without affecting my back and disturbing my back routine? 5. Now you what I am doing currently, do you think this is the right approach or should I have started with the Trap 3 raises and Back holds and back extensions in the back extension machine at the gym? Would really appreciate you answering these questions. Cheers Mate.

I think what your doing is genuine and I def commend you for it. Thank you. Just be careful, you still have a hi chance of further degeneration prob without even knowing it. This is def the right idea tho, I would just add follow this with imaging every year or so to make sure your not causing further degeneration.
@lowbackability
@lowbackability 7 ай бұрын
I hear you. Being in touch with your body and observing the improvements of ability & symptoms without ever working through pain is more than enough feedback. Pain and degradation is not something that sneaks up on you. We just live in a culture that has promoted masking and avoidance of pain. The more in tune and aware you become with your body, the less random all of this becomes. Yearly imaging is personally not necessary for me. To each their own though! My back was at rock bottom already. I have gotten only better and better. There really is no other way for me at this point but to keep building safely.

What I really need to know was your thoughts about soreness. I did 10 reps of body weight back extensions yesterday and my low back was sore and stiff the rest of the day. Today it feels okay but still feel the same pains of course since I’m just starting out. Should the goal be to not have much soreness at all or is that okay? How do I gauge whether I did too much or not?

Working through pain is not good! You could start with isometric holds for 30 seconds, and if you don t feel pain after , this is a sign that is your starting point, work only 3 times per week, monday wednesday friday, first week 30 seconds hold, next week 1 minute hold, and after that you could watch Brandan videos to move further with back extension! He explain a lot in his videos! He is truly a man who speaks truth!

hey Brendan, hope you have time for a quick question, I have all the symptoms you describe in this great video but I never had a diagnosable injury. Im strong and mobile, I can perform bodyweight and (in the past) weighted back exts for reps, but I still get pain sitting and standing. Ive never tried the isometric holds and I can see how that transfers to static positions. Would you recommend just continuing to increase my max tissue tolerance?

What’s up Brendan. In my case, since I got my L5-S1 herniated disc in a MRI 2.5 years ago, there hasn’t been a day without pain with sitting. I can train with no pain, but when I am sat I have that dull pain just above my right glute. I’m 26 now, and I injured my back with 18, I never had a problem with sitting just it became a chronic problem after de mri result and the pain and discomfort is fucking real. How do you suggest to get out of that feeling? I do the LBA program yo teach, but fuck the thing with sitting discomfort has became a daily problem. Keep going bro!!

Hi. I herniated 2 discs l4-l5, l5-S1 in 2019. I worked as a carer in a hospital for 12 years and had a lot of lifting patients. Ive had chronic pain now for 4 years. I saw an orthopedic consultant and he said there is a lot of degeneration on this area of my spine and it may require fushion in the future. I now weight train regularly. But dont do deadlifts or barbell squats as i get flare ups. I implemented a lot of your exercises but found it exacerbated my pain. I wonder what im doing wrong. I"m really willing to try anything as this has taken over my life. I wonder do you have any advice. Thanks.
