Very true. Technically, buttery mashed potatoes are also made up of easily digested carbs and salt and fat, but they don’t have the same addictive appeal (at least to me) as crunchy salty kettle cooked potato chips. And if the potato chips are tangy too, watch out. 🤤

The Keto and Low Carb diets seem about the same to me. I test Keto and sleep so well. I am worried about my LDL this year because I have started using high fats from dairy, especially the whipping cream, cheeses, and butters. Can I be Keto without them?
@judithowens82122 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. Especially if you have weight to lose, eg, fat on your own body instead of fat from food will be used. Keto is essentially about being low carb. The fat portion will depend on whether you have fat to lose or not. Generally, eat enough fat to feel satiated, being mindful of overall energy intake (calories). 😀

Thank you for explaining why I enjoy chips so much. The salt, the crunch, how they make me feel so happy. Unfortunately, I have not met a Chip I do not like. Ok, there was only one. I splurge but it unleashes the uncontrollable beast in me so I buy small lunch bag ones for portion control. It helps me or I will eat the entire bag. The Quest protein chips help but I find those addicting as well. Lol.

Second rule for better health regardless of type of diet is NO SNACKS BETWEEN MEALS. I stick with low/no carb real foods, no sugar, seed oils, or packaged or processed food. I eat in a maximim 8 hour window, often 6 hours and never within 6 hours of bedtime. I lost 50 pounds in 2 years of almost keto and in maintenance mode for the last year I've had no variation in weight more than 2 or 3 pounds up and down always coming back to my best weight without even trying. And I don't count anything, since my initial keto diet, because that just doesn't work for me.

I have tried low-carb before, but found myself "falling off" after cheating. The one thing that REALLY helps me is logging my carbs on an index card each day. Pork rinds with sea salt and no artificial flavors seem to work pretty well, if fried in their own oils. I typically end up even adding salt. They're not a health food, being high in omega 6, but they're better than the vast majority of alternatives. I often eat sardines on pork rinds with guacamole.

Hi Becky. I found you about 6 months ago and started some sort of low carb diet lol 😆 I've lost 50 pounds and just want to thank you. Love your content. I've played with the macros so much and was hoping you could give me direction. At first I was doing about 60 total carbs a day 55% fat and thats how I lost 30 pounds at first. Now I'm sitting at macros 25% 25% 50% fat. I'm worried about my high quality fat intake I've heard that high fat when not in ketosis can be dangerous... should I lower my fat intake and up my protein? I just really am not ready for a strict keto diet but the high fat for me is a game changer for my hunger and appetite being lowered and leaves me satisfied so don't want to consume high fat if it's dangerous not being under 50 grams carbs. Just lost because its either keto macros or low carb macro recommendations are 35% fat. Sorry for the long question.

Watch a few other low carb - dr eric wessman, dr ken berry.. It's high fat and high carb that's the issue. Every body reacts differently to carbs.
