I just so happen to have a quarter head of cabbage sitting in the fridge and all the other ingredients you put in this dish and I'll be having it for dinner tomorrow! I can't wait! I really enjoy your channel! I like how you don't fuss over every gram. Having just started keto, I know how much people (including myself) are hyper-aware of their macro, watching every carb in the beginning. But that's not how I want to live my entire life. Once I've got a feel for things, I hope I have the same easy-going demeanor in the kitchen that you do. Edit: I broke my 24hr fast with this meal today and I was so pleased with how delicious and satisfying it was. Months ago, I would have eaten 3x as much food and still not have felt as satisfied. My version wasn't identical to yours.. I started with a diced 5oz. pork loin steak (pre-cooked sous vide), cream cheese and sour cream instead of the alternatives you used, I added a 1/2" slice of chopped red onion, and I used olive oil instead of bacon fat (3T, just enough heat to melt the CC). Even tho mine came out slightly higher in carbs than it would have had I followed your recipe, the numbers were still quite reasonable with ample room for a another small meal later (1/2 Haas avocado, 2oz. cheddar and a bullet cacao w/ collagen). I'd still be eating omelettes 4-5x/wk if it weren't for your channel! My sincere thanks.

I made this yesterday with bacon and a little onion as usual for fried cabbage, but added the garlic, along with seasonings. Then added the mascarpone, creme fraiche, and Havarti with dill. It was sooooooo yummy. These three make the cabbage so smooth, for cabbage😉, and mild, but lots of flavor. THANKS!

We grew up on fried cabbage and bacon, ham or sausage or sometimes just the fried cabbage in bacon grease. We had to make 3 heads because it wouldn't last. Frying cabbage gives it an awesome flavor. I'll try the cheese.

This sounds awesome!! I never would’ve thought to put that combination of melty things together, but I’ve done similar (cream cheese and sour cream) with fresh corn or little green peas-so there’s no reason why it wouldn’t be great with cabbage.

For anyone on the fence about green cabbage, Ive found a good fry with a bit of onion powder seems to rid the cabbage of much of that overbearing sweetness it can have. Doing this, I can replace just about anything that uses rice or noodles. As a bed or side, I can use it with chicken picatta, orange chicken, beef and broccoli, cashew chicken, or I will make shrimp/ham/chicken fried cabbage which is a family favorite.

I can't wait to try this! Another recipe to add to my long list of things to try :) I just got back into LCHF 5 days ago. Was doing great and woke up this morning ravenous.... I am not usually hungry in the mornings. Anyway, I had the worst craving for Rice Krispy cereal and ate it with a big cup of milk. Now I feel like a failure. Any go to foods that help you when a strong craving kicks in? I didn't have anything on hand for a quick fix.

Kristie...how about making stuffed cabbage and use hemp seeds instead of rice?! Basting with tomato sauce doctored up a bit with Worcester sauce and some garlic and onion powder would still be okay wouldn’t it because the cabbage rolls are in the sauce just really to cook...so I think that if anyone can figure this comfort food recipe out it’s you!

Have you ever tried making your own ghee in the microwave? It's super easy, quick and saves a lot compared to the store bought! If you're interested I can send your my instructions with pictures.
@evespower17 жыл бұрын
I'm interested...how?
@shannoneg20007 жыл бұрын
evespower1 Very easy... Melt butter in the microwave. I usually do a pound at a time for the week. Watch CLOSELY so it doesn't splatter in your microwave. Once melted, put in the fridge overnight, or until it hardens completely. The whey/milk solids naturally sink and the ghee rises. Once hardened, run a flat knife between the ghee solid and the side of the dish until it pops out. Using COLD water, rinse off the milk solids from the bottom of your ghee solid and the dish. Sometimes you'll need to use a spoon to GENTLY scrape off the milk solids. Done!
@betterlatethannevertexasho21937 жыл бұрын
Thank you Shannon for that Ghee microwave recipe. I'm new to keto but love to cook and have found that its super easy to convert my everyday dishes to lchf. Some things I've grown up on are really already keto, but just need some added fat. Imagine that. excited to add fat to a food. haha.
