Wow around the 45-minute mark when Dr. Westman was saying that he couldn't find bad gas at a gas station... you know it's true that if you put sugar in the gas tank you will ruin your vehicle well the same thing goes for the human body too much sugar causes damage to your body's engine. I liked his analogy.

Dr. Westman was comparing sugar addiction to alcohol addiction and cocaine/heroin addiction. 45 to 50 years ago I was watching a program called Starsky and Hutch. One of the guys was kidnapped and the criminals injected him full of heroin I believe it was. When his partner found him he was trying to get him to go through withdrawal to help him get clean. The partner kept feeding his friend all sorts of sugary candy as a substitute for the drug. That episode showed how much of a drug sugar was so much so that it tricked his body into thinking he was getting more of the heroine. Fortunately he got through the withdrawal process but that movie was an eye-opener.

He preaches low carb no sugar and it's that simple he helps people all people realise they can do it too. I know because he inspired me to loose over 100 pounds and keep it off.

It's definitely simple ---- Thank you for letting people know this ... I was a carb and sugar addict since I was a little girl. I was raised on cheap carbs ---- bread, crackers, cereal, macaroni, etc. I was a" chubby " little girl, an overweight teenager, and fat most of my adult life. I agree with the doctor that it is pretty much guaranteed to work for anyone who just stops eating the carbs and sugar. I understand now that we were lied to our whole lives ---- eat less, move more ...... limit fat, etc. Sugar is destroying many things in your body even if you are not obese.

Fat is only an issue if you are mixing it with carbs and starchy vegetables and Carby fruit. Ansel Keyes lied about cholesterol because he was working for the processed food and sugar industry. I'm a Carnivore and I eat lots of fat from my diet of only animal products. My body uses that fat as energy instead of carbs. I did go through the keto flu for about ten days but then I started feeling great. My total Cholesterol is close to 300 but my doctor wasn't worried because my LDL, HDL and Triglycerides were all good. I did it healing autoimmune issues and dropped 22lbs without even trying. I eat only two times per day, never snack because I eat until I'm comfortably full. I don't crave sweets and other junk because I stay full. I eat 27% fat ground beef and every other animal along with eggs and some dairy. I eat a huge burger with cheese almost daily for lunch around 1pm with that I eat about 4 or 5 pieces of bacon, a fried egg and sometimes I will cheat s bit and eat half an avocado with it. Around 7pm I eat supper which includes a steak, a couple of grilled pork chops, a cheese stuffed piece of baked chicken or something similar. Generally I will eat more eggs, sometimes deviled eggs with my supper. I'm a 57yr old female, 5'9" about 132lbs. I'm back in the gym but I rarely do cardio, I walk a fairly rapid pace 2 or 3 days per week. I lift weights and finally I'm able to regain muscle mass I thought I had permanently lost. My husband is not quite as strict, he is more a Ketovore but he dropped 15lbs without trying and his muscle mass has increased substantially. His friends pick at him because he is starting to look "swole".😂

A friend of mine, retired RN, got up to 198 pounds (5’1”) over several years (she was 110 during her whole career). Thank goodness her GP had the courage to have a “come to Jesus talk” with her about her weight and resulting bad blood test results! She wanted to change!! Her doc handed her the low carb(Under 25 grams/day) She started loosing weight right away, and did not suffer from hunger. When I talked with her she had lost over 20 lbs! I had done the same thing…229 lbs at 5’9”! I’ve been blown away by this diet! I lost 48 pounds over the last year, it was easy, but I still had 😂 my coffer with creamer in the morning, my glass of wine in the evening, and ate fish or shrimp with breading. I plan on loosing 10-15 more pounds. I did succeed in eliminating all other sugar. I was fine with plateaus, just didn’t freak out over it, and started loosing again in a week or two. I think we have been so misled by the “healthy” community. You have to use common sense, find your information from dependable sources, and don’t get caught up in fanatical diets. This one makes biological sense to me, and it works.

I am the same way. I've stopped 66 lbs since Sept. Off all meds within the first 3 weeks. But if there's something I want, I have it, but in a MUCH smaller amount. For me, deprivation makes me crave it even more, which causes stress, which is bad for "addicts". But fear is the best motivator. I'm sure I would be losing quicker if I went carnivore or just kept it below that certain point. But, I'm averaging about 8 lbs per month even eating a few carbs per day. I shoot for zero, but usually wind up eating 30-40 sometimes, but NEVER as many as before! I'm figuring I was eating around 500 carbs a day, before I began this. I'm feeling 25! I'll be 58 in August. Much more hope for my future! It's great!😊

well I'd say your half right, the main problem is that our food is poisoned by add sugars and seed oils, add in salt and you get addictive food. And honestly I think its the seed oils that do the most damage to us over time. About 10 years ago I was in the emergency room due to chronic urinary tract infections. I had gained a ton of weight, our lives were stressful & the daily oatmeal or eggs n toast, sandwiches, pasta, etc , was taking its toll. We went into emergency and they were fairly useless. I've never been diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. I once had a doctor tell me he could use my chart to show people what a healthy person looked like, I was just fat after 4 kids in 6 years. The catscan tech asked me why I was there and I told him. His reply was, "Do you eat wheat?" I knew immediately where he was going with this because years prior I was low carb and felt far healthier. He told me to ignore the doctors because they were clueless, go home & research Dr William Davis who wrote Wheat Belly. I turned on KZbin & watched about 5 hrs of his interviews. I removed wheat that day and never had another infection. I've been low carb keto since. I've had other issues, stressers, etc, gained some back, but I still rarely get sick & not a single infection. I lost a lot of weight, my situational anxiety greatly diminished & it saved my life. My mother was an obese child. The only obese person until her siblings hit their 30s. She was bedridden and over 400lb about a decade ago. Doctor after doctor didn't help. I said look, You can enjoy your coffee with cream & butter but NO BREAD or bananas. Eat your meats & organic veggies all you want, which she loved. I encouraged her to not eat after 7pm, and no food till after noon. If she could just coffee and fat fast, do it I sent her a quality dark chocolate & she used coconut oil, grassfed butter, avocados. She went from almost 450lb to 250 within 2 years, in bed and never felt better. She is now 220lb at 5⁷, almost 80 yo and not leaving anytime soon. Every time I hear someone dismiss the power of removing carbs & sticking with their useless doctor's advice, my heart aches. Thankfully, my hormone specialist who refuses to take insurance to keep the costs down, was thrilled when I gave him my eating lifestyle. The past 75 years of nutritional advice, among many other politically controlled messages, have been horrific. What the allopathic system has done to the minds of the people is criminal. I talk to people every week who have no idea what a carb is. They don't know bread is generally made from wheat. They don't know a pancake or a waffle is sugar. These people have careers, own homes, raise families, yet they are clueless to nutrition. Nutritionists are generally clueless to nutrition. When I do tell the story how removing carbs changed everything, most people cling to their pills. Heartbreaking.

I know some people that I went to HS with that are now diabetic and on insulin. I cannot get them to listen to the idea of changing their food intake in order to help this disease. They have so bought into what doctors are telling them that it's like they are completely blind to any other approach. They're constantly talking about 'episodes' of illness and STILL won't consider doing something different. SO frustrating.

I cut carbs on 18 march 2023. The first week was HORRIBLE..!! After that it became easy. I also started walk every day around 10.000 to 13.000 steps. Besides I do intermittent fasting. I lost 7.8 kg 😁. More natural fats I eat, the more fresh I feel ..! I did various of diet before and I failed..! Because I kept feeling hungry..! Adding carbs to my diet keeps me hungry and want more food..! KETO diet helps me lose weight with no hunger..! Now I feel full some times I forget to eat..! But because I am walking I eat to get strength 😁

Glad to see this approach is gaining more traction. When I was first diagnosed with T2D all my doctor wanted to do was "manage it" for life. All the endocrinologist wanted to do was the same (with either pills or surgery). All *I* wanted to do was reverse it. I did have a MI/stent put in 7 years ago -- even then, the nutritionist had no idea about low carb -- all they wanted to do was low fat and add statins. They didn't believe me that it was possible to fix it with my nourishment. But it is certainly working that way, and for example my HbA1C is so low now my (new) doctor doesn't even want me to monitor it (although I don't plan on stopping my progress and monitoring -- what I measure I can improve!).

No more arthritis except in right foot. I walked alot. I got a job being on my feet all day and then got Covid in 22 and gained back 50 lbs. My arthritis is back and I'm getting neuropathy in legs now and keeps me awake at night. My doctor says all my blood work is good except for LOL is high. She says I may still have DT2. Even though my a1c is is now 4.9. I am eating more carbs but there are days when I eat under 20. I'm very depressed and confused now. I'm trying to now go back to strict keto but I miss some carbs and my job makes it hard for me to exercise (walk) and fast. I work from 1-10. When get home I eat and then I can sleep. I am now trying to do floor exercises after work. I'm hoping this will help me. Great video.

Just a suggestion..try going to bed without eating . Wake up in the morning and eat a protein breakfast and eat somemore at lunch. That way your body has a window of no eating so it can burn some fat. The big thing is not to eat all day. That is why intermittent fasting works.

If the Mitochondria are damaged, you will not beat blood sugar levels in the short term with food. It takes time, be patient. Fiber and good fats are crucial, they are complex carbs blockers, fermented foods and ACV are great too to use in combination with complex carbs. It is not about just Carbs, it is about complex and empty carbs. A person needs complex carbs but should stay away from simple carbs 100%. Just 80% complex carbs from veggies, some berries, nuts, and seeds plus 20% meat, fish, eggs is just fine. We are making things more complex.

Getting of carb and sugar is hard. But this helps with cravings immensely! Glass of water, one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, some real Celtic salt to diminish the taste of vinegar and a few slices of fresh ginger to boost your metabolism, reduce inflammation and improve the taste. I like to make mine with carbonated water- it tastes awesome and I don’t even feel vinegar that way. Drink throughout the day through the straw, but especially before meals. It really works by lowering glucose spikes and reduces cravings for sugars and starches. I tell everyone I know and people can’t thank me enough. My girlfriends lost 5 and 4.5 pounds in two weeks. I’ve lost 5.5 but most importantly I’m not craving sugars anymore. Try it and see if such cheap solution does the trick for you. Stay healthy!

Unfortunately doctors and other medical practitioners are trained in old science and data and continue on that mindset. People/patients do their own homework and research listening to enlightened and progressive science. Thankfully drs like Eric Westman, Ben Bickman, Jason Fung, Robert Lustwig to name a few and actually learn how to manage their own health. Out of date doctors need to retire because they are letting down their patients and shovelling drugs into then.

@@deflo56 I had my husband on carnivore & wasn’t able to eat enough & his weight went down to 130lbs very anemic he just can’t eat enough just 1/2 cup so my question is what’s next? The doctor wants him on Glacerna & eating higher carbs not from carnivore to up his weight. He is diabetic so I’m concerned on what to do at this point. He hasn’t been started on dialysis. Thank you for your feedback 🙏🏼 cancer doesn’t run in family.

@@jrrj-vf4jb so I take it your husband has cancer and you think it’s not genetic? All I’m saying is that survival may depend on your body’s ability to use it to survive. It’s kinda of a new field with a fairly recent Nobel award to Ohsumi.

I don't understand. I have been doing Keto page 4 for 30 days, keeping my carbs under 10, and have not lost a pound.

Don’t use them. Monk fruit or stevia doesn’t cause a spike like some artificial sweetener does.

😢We have been evolving to adapt to some vegetables , nuts ,fruits ,grains and roots for quite some time from a carnivore diet. Also we have grown to eating too much food due its availability over the last 100 years. The overeating is the problem. But once you have overeaten you can quickly reset your overweight by eating more meat and less or the carbs. You need to aim for zero carbs and you will get enough incidental carbs at 20. If you start out aiming for 20 carbs you will end up eating 40 carbs.

Great podcast. But fruits are natural sugars. I only eat berries . I’ve cut my carbs and I’m doing OMAD . Why can’t we have complex carbs.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh 9 stone { 126lbs} undressed. I'm 66 years old next week and do have some fat in my midsection that I'd like to shift. I have found that eating almost no carbs does reduce body fat but it does leave me feeling lacking in energy. I do floor exercises three times weekly and cycle a fair amount, weather permitting. Can't overdo the exercise as I suffer from cervical myelopathy.

Eating healthy is easy once a person detoxes from addictive foods. The detox is different for everyone I'm sure but it takes me 3-5 days. I find once I go through this I only want to eat once or twice a day and don't crave anything sweet or bread-based. I imagine it's because our bodies remember what is necessary once we remove the non-nutritional foods. It's easy to get back onto the rollercoaster with bad foods though - because if you're busy and grab anything that's quick it's adding in preservatives, sugar, and stuff that makes you want more of it because it lacks true nutrition or causes quick serotonin spikes. It's our culture - addictive foods are all around us.
