The thing is with that EPR you don't drive it but let it run at high idle for about 30 minutes and then immediately change the oil and filter to get all the sludge and varnich and EPR out of the engine. Great Stuff !

Absolutely. When they sit you have nothing to lose trying to free everything up and agree best thing for it is to run and get up to operating temp to help it get things working again. Engines are not made to just sit. Some of the worst I have seen is when they are never used.

scary there’s so many things to go wrong with rel new (1995?) vehicle that sat unused for so long. none of fixes were major, but just sheer number of different things to attend to. knowledge & avail tools is king. was it worth the labour cost to repair? very instructive for amateur & professional alike & shows that sick sounding engine doesn’t necessarily have a major mechanical issue, but rather a number of smaller issues. the fuel/oil additives mybe did better job than expected. unlike me, Ray totally undaunted by sheer scope of repair. is this case for avoiding an abandoned ICE veh over simpler ev? er…..no.

The 2.3L Lima in these trucks have HLA's that dont like thin oil when old/higher millage, that could have been a part of the issue with the missfire too. its too bad you didn't do an oil pressure check before and after. The gauge in the ford version is more of a switch/idiot light, not pressure, it is on(over 7psi) or off(under 7psi) if I remember correctly, probably the same in this truck.

I have been using Amsoil before you were probably born? Since 1973. I do not know if the oil added longevity to the car because I always traded them in after 3 years but I still own a 1988 Volkswagen 4 speed Golf with over 300,000 miles on it and the car still looks brand new inside and out. The whole car has been rusted proofed, but it is always in the garage, and I do not drive it in the snow. The only thing I did was changed the valve cover gasket. Amsoil back in the early days was very thin. But down the road I put 20w 50 in the 1.8 L engine. Did Amsoil help my engine get that far I think so. When I change the gasket the valves looked new no sludge at all.

This is a very informative & detailed video.! Must must mention one flaw however, & that is, that, the BG epr was added to the oil, when the oil level was lesser than the recommended amount.! I would b inclined to believe, that the epr chemical would b impeded upon, in doing a proper cleaning, because the oil level was not up to capacity when the chemical was added.! Very good chemical.! I need to mention also, that the use of the chemical would b more effective, when added to a very hot engine- very hot oil.!

Kerosene (Not gonna mention the brand name of hydrated Kerosene that we lost in Canada for a long time) Water in gas, In a Turd or Mazda, easy, drain tank, fill with Chevron Premium (Race Gas) and a can of Brand name hydrated Kerosene, or just a couple of cups of kerosene. Ever asked for the MSDS on the products you use? Expensive Kerosene.
