Why does no one seem to choose SIPS panels ? They reduce costs by decreasing construction time. They offer better structural integrity, better insulation and greater fire resistance.

Wow! A house not only I admire, but wish I could live in. Its open space, soothing mild colors, clean lines, free of clutter, all indicate planning with extraordinary care, and a house that truly says, "Welcome" to visitors and inhabitants alike. A very nice video indeed. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania

I would believe that with all of Jason's hard labor, and with the creativity and sacrifice of both Jason and Riikka, this wonderful home cost more like 500,000 Pounds.

Should have nestled the back of the structure into the hill and raised up the living area at least a meter. This increases the lawn stretching out to the view, improves capturing the distant vista and reduces sight lines down on the overlooked roofs. The entry is awful in appearance and function. Entire house should have been a tailored simple glass box like the 70s modernist they visited.

The whole point here, as I understood it, is that the natural surroundings are the focal point; the dwelling should be deemphasized and opened up to the beauty of the outdoors.

The entry is bland but the rest of the house looks and feels great. Too much glass for the colder climate of upper mid western USA but it should work fine in the UK. Besides glass is an expensive building material in North America. You need the windows to take in the fabulous views. Large windows starting about 40 inches from the floor and extendinding to the ceiling would make a good alternative construction in N.A. Large glass doors at entry/exit doors could further extend views and site lines to give the perception of living in a larger building plus provide ample natural light. The stark modern interior of which some people like could be toned down to a more traditional under such construction changes. I like the idea of opaque or dark bronzed glass ( perhaps tin coated glass) to create more privacy in the house. Its a great trick used in Japanese architecture. Other than the entry, I like the house. Great job on a great looking budget house.

(8:00) Piers tries to talk the guy out of an air conditioning unit and into a DESIGN that won't cost. YEARS ago, I sat in a Tesla. I said "But you can't see out of the back window. WHO would design such a stupid car?" The sales lady said; "But, look!" and pointed to a SCREEN showing the back view. So that when THAT delicate piece of engineering breaks down, it will cost you 'la peau des fesses' to get it repaired. Instead of a decent design. Sometimes geniuses are idiots as well.
