Great video, and thanks to Jonathan's volunteering to participate. I'm always interested to see how golfers respond to a weight change after working on their swing. It (and other fitting parameters of course) can really compliment the changes. Also so great that you give Larry a shout-out. I enjoy his contact a lot and have applied some of this teaching into my own swing. Dave

LOL. Was just about to ask the same. Either that or Matty's super duper uber mega fabulous swing have attracted all the lefties in the world to the channel...
@rayjd16505 жыл бұрын
I think it has to do with playing hockey first. You play with your dominant hand at the top of the stick to be able to control it with one hand. I'm a lefty and play hockey with a right hand curve.
@martinredgrave47675 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. The irony is I am a lefty - and play golf right handed.

My standing quip when wintering in SC is that I come from Canada. It’s legal to play golf left handed in Canada. But perhaps the right question is why so few LH golfers in the US? There are many LH batters in baseball

Had almost the exact same experience at my recent iron fitting. Coming off JPX 919 Hot Metal with KBS Tour 90S shafts and into Z585 with True Temper DG 120S. Actually had the opposite problem with launching and spinning too high. Could not believe that going heavier with the shaft and into the Srixon head gave me more distance and better dispersion. Unreal what a good fitter can do for you.

Always great stuff from TXG but I hope Matt and Ian both will continue to test products along with some knew testers, and I know I'm not aligned with the bigger part of the audience, but my swing speed relates more to their games and I appreciate being able to see some really good players test equipment and also teach others about various aspects of golf from their points of view.

I had those same stiff flex Nippon Pro 850s in a set of AP1s after I was fitted into them early last year. Went for another fitting later in the year and put then AP1s on the frequency tester. They were testing at a 2.7 on the Rifle scale which is in the ladies flex border line junior flex range. The flex written the shaft really is relative to the actual shaft.

Kudos to Jonathan for bringing the heat and not holding back during his fitting ... I can see his game notching up even better over time if he can provide a little more subtle control over his swing effort ... I noticed when he aggressively swing his head tends to lunge forward prematurely ...

interesting to see shaft weight impact and how players either adapt their tempo or instead want a different shaft. Seems that is a consistent quandry for the fitter - fit the swing or nudge the swing in a certain direction.

I went down from the nippon 120s in my srixon fitting to the 105s so i could feel the clubhead weight MORE in my swing. Much better for me 👍🏻 Was minting them then we tried s300 shafts, i immediately topped 2 in a row ha! Mad how much it makes a difference

Ian, great video. I noticed you mentioned something in regard to the V-sole. From your remark, I'm assuming it benefits the player with the tendency to hit a fat shot rather than the thin one. Can the V-sole hurt the player with the tendency to hit a thin shot? Thanks.

I have a equipment question. I typically score between a 95 and a 99. I recently went to a fitter that told me my clubs are an inch to short for me. they also said my regular flex shafts can't handle my 80 mph swing speed. would upgrading my equipment to fit me better help mower my scores. side not current clubs 7 iron goes 145ish. 7 iron of test club stiff shaft went 170ish.

Uncanny how similar Jonathan's fit was to mine last week. I had low launch with my Z745 (12.9 degrees with 6I) ended up with Z forged but gained 3 degrees of loft (Oban CT 115 shaft), 6 yards carry, better control (less went left) and slight increase in ball speed (122.6 to 123.9).

Went to my first ever club fitting yesterday here in Utah at golf tec (my wife bought me a fitting for my b day) it was the worst experience ever. All I wanted was a gapping session for my clubs mainly irons. On the phone the kid said they could do that. When I got there after driving 2 hours cause it’s the closest available option the “master fitter of 20 years” told me he can’t do a gapping session? He said he can check the lofts on their bending machine but wouldn’t let me hit them on the gc 2?? He said the gapping session is pointless if your clubs are at the manufactures specs. Since my wife already paid and couldn’t get a refund I decided to just do a driver fitting. But I think his main goal was just to sell me a Callaway epic. I liked it but wasn’t about to drop $500 for a driver. I was hitting my ping g400 345 carry (which seems wrong) at 122 mph club head. But if anyone wants to go to golftec just don’t. Wish there was a good option for me but seems like I don’t have any good fitters close.

Feel nice, look nice. Maybe 2 yards shorter vs the Srixon 785. This I think is due to CG and higher launch.
