Dr Dray, my mother had female pattern baldness as she got up in years and so do I. Adding insult to injury I had a total hysterectomy in my forties ( decades ago now) which probably sped things along. I suppose men can become very depressed when they realize they’re losing hair but I think women suffer more because of cultural norms. Anyway, I first tried Minoxidil to try to slow down my hair loss and grow new hair. Pretty soon after starting treatment I had to discontinue use due to having a terribly itchy scalp and also broke out with a rash on my head. For about a year, I’ve been using low-level light therapy. It’s a helmet ( don’t know if I can mention the name) that you put on every other day for 25 minutes at a time, while you read, watch tv, etc. All I can say is what a difference it has made; my hair is so much thicker! I’m so pleased with this device and will continue to use it on a maintenance schedule. Thanks for the video!

Hi Laura. What device are you using? Thank you!!
@missvaleria17225 жыл бұрын
Good to hear women having positive results .. I’m just looking into the laser caps myself since minoxidil did exactly the same thing to me! So I stopped using it 3 weeks ago and 2 months ago I did prp+acell injections trying to boost my results with laser treatments since both of those don’t have side effects and are natural way to help androgenic alopecia. I’m actually looking at capillus cap the lastest model which is 6 mins a day.

Jessica Collins the brand name is irestore. I think they have a 6 month money guarantee. I can’t remember because it’s been way past the time for me but I tell you if mine broke tomorrow I would buy a new one. I’m no longer embarrassed about my hair. The only negative is (and I’m not even sure about this) if your hair follicles are dead than it might not work. I think they have to still be alive just not growing hair but as I stated above I’m not sure about that. Good luck, after all what have you got to lose. Oh, another thing, I did not buy it from Amazon as I did not know if you could get your money back. I bought it through the company because I was leery about it working and I wanted to know I could get my money back!

I never got a diagnosis from our family internist, but I went to him age 13/14 with slight bald patches. I was getting into puberty at that time as well. He told me it was my hormones trying to balance out; to give it time. About a year later I was fine again. But it was pretty scary when your hair comes out in chunks at that age! My mom got me a topical lotion and also some hair vitamins more to ease the panic than anything else. But I was freaking out, that's for sure!

Dear Andrea, I would like your advice, if you don’t mind. It’s on your favourite subject, sunscreen. I am now using the Altruist sunscreen. Thanks for the recommendation, I am loving it. The first chemical sunscreen I can use around my eyes without problems. I would never have found it without you, as I was convinced I could only use physical sunscreen which have a texture I do not like much. But I digress. I am vain, so on top of the Altruist I like to use a tinted SPF and the one I like is an all physical one. Will doing this compromise the Avobenzone in the Altruist or will the Tinasorb in the Altruist mitigate this? I appreciate you are busy but I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you in advance and also for all your excellent content. Thanks to you I am now always sunscreened and of course subscribed. 😘

@UltimateEnd04 жыл бұрын
You can right now with a protocol including a quality LLLT device either the iRestore pro or the Capillus line. Pair it with various DHT blocking herbs, oils, shampoo and conditioners and you hair is guaranteed to grow back. Make sure to get enough folate (not folic acid), magnesium, zinc, beta-carotene. I would suggest quite a bit of beta-carotene with LLLT.

Hello Dr. Dray, thank for all the excellent information. Do you have any recommendations on how to treat hair loss that presents as gradual thinning, without hairline recession?
@sable71145 жыл бұрын
Oh my I am so glad you touched on this topic. Haven't read other comments yet but of course I'd like to know what devices can be used in the home. I am also hopeful that you will talk a little bit about cicatricial alopecia which is a diagnosis I have but don't really believe I have that as there's some little hairs sprouting with the use of massages and oils and supplements. I'm wondering what you may think of PRP as a treatment 4 hair loss as well and I'm also curious as to whether or not a person's hairline can be changed. Of course there are baby hairs there and maybe the laser treatment would help them to grow thicker and darker. Don't know. A lot of women are having these problems as you said, however. Not much help here other than the suggestion of steroid shots and was also told that my scalp at the vertex could be cut and then pull together 2 get rid of the nearly bald area. That sounds scary, painful, and dangerous, would I ever be able to smile again? Would love to hear of your knowledge in these areas and will read some or all of your research articles listed in the description box. Thank you so much again for touching on this subject.

My skin gets super dry with mineral sunscreens, even when layered on top of a chemical one. Does anyone else experience this?
@marianaferreirabarbosa48615 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use mineral sunscreen with titaniun dioxide only, NEVER zinc oxide. I have super dry skin.

Mariana Ferreira Barbosa can you recommend a good one? My skin is sensitive and I’m still looking for a good sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my skin. Thanks

Another very informative video.Imagine counting the hairs per sq.cm to compare the two groups- wow!! Do u think this treatment would help someone with hair loss/ thinning following chemotherapy & adjuvant therapy ( suppression of oestrogen) quite some time ago?
@DrDrayzday5 жыл бұрын
the mechanism of chemo hair loss is different but possibly would be helpful for some of the hormonal therapy related effects on hair loss

I’m sorry doctor but I have embarrassing and awkward question that I’m really hesitate to say that I have so bad mastubation addiction sorry for saying that 🤦🏻♂️ but does it cause excessive hair loss I noticed like when I’m doing it everyday I have more urge to do it like hard for me to stop and I experienced memory problems I’m so sure about that and depression and anxiety low self esteem and excessive hair loss I’m really suffering from so much hair loss Is it the cause of masturbation that causes increases in testosterone that causes massive dht build up in my scalp because of me doing it everyday ? I trust you doctor please answer my question and do u recommend any type of LLT hats ?

Hi, I got the Irestore Professional from the information you gave us in this video and the followup one. I've used it for 2-3 weeks now. Doing fine with it. A question that I can't find answered on their site or online is is ok to use the Irestore the same day you get your hair colored? or do it another day? I would think it's ok but thank you in advance for any info!

Give it a rest on the day you get it coloured. Use it 3 to 4 times a week for 20 mins each time. It works even better with a proper microneedling device and with minoxidil.

I used that 10 years ago and it worked got worse before getting better .. my skin dried up and started peeling / breaking out not crazy but a little bit I kept using it 2x a day morning and night and my skin became baby smooth.. after couple years I changed to epiduo bc my skin got used to the cream wasn’t working as good. But my acne was mild def not severe or anything too bad.

Great video! I have a question. I will be receiving my RN in 2020. I want to go into dermatology! I am contemplating going to med school for dermatology or getting my NP and working in a dermatology clinic. The NP route seems the easier path, yet I want to be able to practice dermatology without limitations. Are the NPs limited in any way such as certain surgical procedures? Thank you!
