Riders often skip these steps because they either don't know how to go about them or they think they won't be that fun. You can listen in while I coach one of my students at OWC as he begins the process of doing 180's on his wakeboard and see it's a pretty enjoyable process. Bb Talkin' is the communication system I've been using for a while now and it has changed the coaching game worldwide in so many sports that I won't bother to begin listing them. Whether coaching or just freeriding, wakeboarding or snowboarding, Bb Talkin is always going with me and I encourage you to check it out! www.bbtalkinusa.com/

Hi Shaun, I’ve just had my 73rd Birthday, so I’m a little bit late, and a few thousand miles adrift, but hey, I. have waterski’d , Wakeboarded, & Snow ski’d, and learnt to Snowboard when I was 60, all without much tuition. I have to say, your approach to teaching is Awesome. I do also have faith, so maybe one day, in that great Water Park in the Sky, who knows! Keep making these Great Video’s. Regards John G.

Wow - this was awesome, and you're clearly a great coach. I always get nervous if i don't feel i'm learning something quick enough, but you were encouraging and find another way to help someone understand! I'm in my mid 30s and picked up a Tige ZX1 this last summer and spent a lot of time surfing and a little time wakeboarding. I wish I could get better at wakeboarding, but I have a hard time taking it slow to learn the basics. Would be pretty sweet to get lessons from someone like you!

Ryan, you'd be surprised how much fun learning "fun"damentals can be. You don't have to learn the flashy stuff to enjoy your ride. Forget about those people in the boat watching you. Your turn is for your fun. Check out the Detention videos I've uploaded here and take the time to start from the beginning. You'll have a fun season if you can do the little things that make board control fun. kzbin.info/aero/PLzW7auimACTo2jYfsUqGqaP0rUqRG6M1w

In switch on a snowboard it helps to get extra low in your stance. Another good trick is to skate your brains out switch. Builds that muscle memory. Even just kicking a soccer or football with your non dominate foot helps, or jumping single leg off you non dominant leg. Things I experimented with coaching 8-12 year olds at HCSC.

What would cause too much slack in the rope? Been trying to implement a lot of your tips, but I inevitably end up with too much slack and fall backwards. Could it be that I’m leaning too far back and letting the board get out from underneath me? That’s what it feels like, at least. (I’m 6’2” - 260lbs - riding a Murray 150 @ 17.5mph behind a ‘23 G23 with no ballast, if it helps)

When you cut away from the wake you’re going faster than the boat so get to the end of your cut, stop cutting and just glide, wait for the boat to catch up, and once you start to drift back in a little, that’s the cue to begin your progressive edge into the wake. That should keep the line tight

how do you make your switch quicker?
@Shaun.Murray
@Shaun.Murray 4 жыл бұрын
Few things to consider. First, make sure you're practicing at slow speeds, 13ish mph behind the boat. Turn your hips while leaning against the line, don't pull the handle. Lean against the line, keep repeating that in your head. If you fall to the side, you're not leaning against the line. It has more to do w your core staying connecting and just turning your core, rather than turning your board. But, you can think about pushing your back foot towards the boat to release the fins, if you have any on the board. Practice this and then begin doing it faster and faster. But, it's not necessary to do it super fast honestly.
