Someone very carefully wrapped this object in FRAGILE tape and consigned it to the deep and dark waters of the. River Thames one dark night hoping it would never be found. Unfortunately they forgot that the tide goes down and these secrets are once again revealed!
In Early December I met up with Simon Bourne for a very cold and misty mudlark. Find out what we found and see you can ID one very strange object in paricular!
If you wish to try mudlarking you need a permit from the Port of London Authority. Currently the PLA are not issuing any new permits. Keep an eye on their website for any changes to this status:-

Thank you for watching.

I love foggy days like that! One of my favorite family vacation memories was when my mom, sister, and I were in Maine. We went to a state park that was the north-easternmost point of the US on a day much like this one here. We were just about the only ones there, and walking along the beach while barely able to see the seals hanging out on the sandbar just off shore was amazing. They were dark shapes in the distance and their barking just added to the evocative sensations of the day. The water was very still, and the waves were just little pulses on the beach. The lighthouse’s foghorn occasionally went off, adding to the auditory mix.

Enjoy your trip to the USA. Lorraine will, I feel sure, be very pleased that her Dad will be given a little help along on his final journey. From the USA, he truly could travel the world. Your breath steaming but us knowing that its pretty darned chilly...and who cares, because your larking and enjoying it. I was too. Peering into my phone screen. Whats this, whats that? I love all the things you discover, but i found that Brazil nut, snuff box really interesting. Awe and have a great journey Lorraine's Dad. That was such a touching message in a bottle. My Grandmother who lived in the deep woods of Louisianna used to sew satin and slicky nylon robes, nighties, underthings and then quilts and pillows from the scraps. I loved anything that sparkled and glittered when i was little and she would let me raid her button tins. She had the most beautiful rhinestone buttons and the metal casings looked very much like the ones you found. Brought back sweet memories❤

Thanks for sharing Nicola! You are indeed blessed to live in a place where the history of your Nation and people is available right under your feet. I live in Western Canada, and there simply is nothing along the rivers to see that is worth anything at all except by an extreme event of chance. If there is anything at all, it is almost certainly a piece of Rubbish and most people I know would take such items and toss them in the nearest garbage bin, which I am proud to say is a good thing. I did, once, when I was a child, find an extremely old arrow head from what was later identified as the ice age, so there is the oldest thing I have ever found, except the very rocks on the ground itself, LOL but someone wanted it more than they thought I did and it was stolen from me. Keep up the videos, I love watching them and I hope you have a great trip to the USA and hope you find some really awesome stuff there too!

Hi Nicola, I mentioned to Si in one of his videos a few weeks ago that the silver hallmarked triangular item you found was a snuff box lol. They were popular at the time because brazil nuts were expensive and a curiosity , it would have been something to show off ,or be a talking point. Quite a lot of snuff boxes were modelled on odd or curious items, I have one in the shape of a horses hoof , a similar shape to some of the pipes you've found.......thanks for another fabulous video, best wishes for 2023 :) x
