Thanks, Robert! Yup- first i tried Velcro... nope, built a little washer thing to hold it up... nope. I found myself holding it in place with one hand perfectly (right where you put one screw) thinking “hey let’s see what RobertDIY says...” Looked it up and whoomp there it is!!! You’re the best!

Thanks man. This idea helped me alot since both panels on both side were falling down. Never thought to just screw them in. You saved me time, money, and returned my car to looking like its old self

Robert, you did it again. Nice to know that I'm not the only person who has had this problem. I'm definitely going to give this a try. Might need my drill.

YES!! Thank you Robert! On my S70 both of the bottom panels are falling out and the clips are broken. Soooo frustrating as whenever I go over a bump my panels fall onto the knees of whomever is driving and riding haha. Great solution. Can't wait to fix mine up now!

Robert, as usual, great solution. I tried everything, Velcro will not adhere to the covering. Your solution is on point.

I used epoxy and "rebuilt" the tabs that broke off. I was in the middle of replacing the evaporator, so I also repaired the broken bits around the dashboard. It had gotten so quiet in the car that my wife asked if I replaced the dashboard. Now everything looks stock. But yes, your method also works and it is much cheaper.

If you have the dash off it is good to rebuild all of those broken bits. I tried to do some epoxy repairs on my 850 dash to no avail. Maybe I used the wrong type. Didn't adhere to the surfaces, cracked a few weeks later, etc.

Robert - Great videos. Can you comment on the removal of this panal, rather than simply securing it (as this video shows)? I'm trying to remove it to get to relays under the dash, and after removing the screw, the part that was unscrewed will drop a bit, and come free, however the rear of the panel doesn't budge. I don't want to force anything for fear of breaking the fragile & weak plastic Volvo uses. Any suggestions?

It just pulls away. The top is fragile, the lower part is not.

You tryed one method and it wasnt quite strong enough for that slab of weight, but at least you tryed, without failure we learn nothing :-) The vertical screw worked nice :-)) If you wanted to hide the screw head a little, ive noticed that some furnature or kitchen cabinets have a kind of plastic cover for the screw heads. Just a thought :-)

Heck, the screw head is 100 times better than the entire panel hanging down. lol From sitting in the seats, you really can NOT see the screw head.

Robert DIY Oh i agree its spot on, i was just thinking you may get a customers car in for repair, and they are the picky type that wants it covering. I only give suggestions, its up to you if you think there usefull :-)

Oh, no problem. I'm sure some may want the cover. That or paint match the screw head.

Mine is on passenger side. My lower panel has been sitting in my trunk for a while. I need to make a bracket for it.

Just makes a big ole mess. I have seen it on that panel and the door panels. I'm not sure what Velcro is good for on a car long term???
