Hey Brooks. I went the “lowering spring” route with the Unplugged springs, but I’ve gotta day, they beat up your stock suspension. My rear shock eventually failed. Also, ride was quite rough. I swapped out the suspension with MPP Coil Over setup. Not cheap... but Amazing! I made a video about it. I’ll post below.

Should that say MPP instead of MMP?

The Model 3 stock suspension is a bit bumpy, but I've always wondered which coil overs were the better option - MPP vs UP. There's fanboys either way when you read the forums, mostly because everyone who buys something always thinks they made a good choice (presuming they don't totally suck)

Brian Good question. I haven’t experienced the coil over system from Unplugged, but can definitively state that the MPP setup gets The Model 3 closer to Euro spec handling (M3/C63AMG) levels. The biggest difference are the dampening and rebound. Night and day.

I don't own a Telsa, but I also went the "lower springs" route (even a small drop) on my Camaro SS (which A LOT of teens and younger drivers seem to think is "good" or "rides great" ride quality on the street (same exact drop springs), but for me (not a kids anymore) the ride was way too rough. I also went with fully adjustable (24 settings) coil overs, and they were substantially better. But I eventually ( set my car up for drag racing -my real hobby) took the coil overs out, and I couldn't believe how smooth my car rode (stock suspension). So the average person needs to think very hard before putting lowering springs or even coil overs on their "family car." Again, if it's a track car (you're serious about real track racing) then do whatever works best for your track setup.

I also had the full Eibach Pro-Plus kit on my 2018 Model 3 LR RWD which included the springs and sway bar set. IMO the car absolutely handled better and looked better with the Eibach setup, but here's why the user experience will vary, the key here is your base model car.... The full Performance Model 3 comes from the factory with a lower suspension (-1") and different tuned dampers for that drop than a RWD or standard Dual Motor car and because of this IMO the rebound effect is different depending on the vehicle type. I found that the Eibach setup in my 2018 LR RWD ride quality was about OEM with big road bumps, actually feeling less harsh than stock, but the rebound effect or hop got a bit old after a while. Also note that Eibach more recently modified the design of their rear sway bars to include lateral locks or stops so that the bar cannot slide within the bushings. I had my original bar replaced at no cost after contacting Eibach and them informing me of the V2 bar. Anyways, my setting for the LR RWD was middle hole on the front bar and outside (softer) hole on the rear bar. Tried the inside tighter hole in the rear for a bit ( yeah that's what he said haha) but found it added a bit too much road noise and rigidity so I reverted. Also good to know is that with this mild 1" drop you're alignment can be adjusted within factory specs or at least very close to not need any additional hardware such as camber arms, but you'll definitely want an alignment done after a few hundred miles AFTER install as the springs absolutely do settle over a few weeks. I took fender to ground measurements to prove it day of install and about 500mi later. Long story short (or maybe not so short), after selling the 2018 (with the Eibach suspension installed) and upgrading to the 2019 DM Stealth Performance would I go the Eibach route again? I would say I will PASS :( I'm just enjoying the OEM ride comfort more than the improved handling and cosmetic appeal. But as mentioned, if your base vehicle is the full Performance or P3D+ the Eibach setup will likely work out better for you with little to no ill effects. Hope this real world experience might be helpful to others on their aftermarket Tesla adventure or on the fence between lowering on springs alone or not. The proper alternative for all other models would be coilovers (UP/MPP/KW) which include tuned or adjustable dampers and matched springs to combat the negatives described above, but it'll come at a cost of about 4-5X that of springs alone.

Having done competitive autocross for years, every weekend, never once have I seen a car get quicker from progressive lowering springs. I've seen hundreds of people say it feels better, but never seen it the cars actually go quicker. Usually it is worse as the suspension just can't work great when it is lower and not also a lot stiffer. On the other hand when people get linear rate racing coilovers, often massive improvements result. But it is bumpy! In this case, The DragTimes guy made 4 changes at once (wheels, tires, swaybars, and springs). Sway bars make *profound* changes in how a car feels, and sometimes in how quick it is too, sometimes not. Almost always feels more fun though. Tires are always the #1 thing for autocross lap times, aggressive alignment (max out negative camber) usually #2 thing. The 2g cornering improvement here is exactly what one would expect from the tire change made alone. Corollas will pull about 1.4gs with those tires. But lap times are about more than steady state cornering Gs!

If you take off the inner liner and use something like dynamat (you don't even need to do the entire thing, just roughly 25% of the area), you will be using constraned-layer damping to prevent it from rattling due to the added mass.

Hey when you guys do get to the Taycan vs S can you please do some 1/2 mile with full charge and some 1/4 at 50 percent really wanna see the performance differences? The S has a 17 percent more useable battery, a lot more power and lighter weight vs the Taycan with that second gear and would be really interesting how much performance drops between the two when they're not fully charged and prepped for sprints. Be safe..
