I watch your channel for your personality and creative thinking, the projects are just a bonus. You should post the failures too, there is a lot to learn from that! Even building a shed would be good content. You be you, that's what we are here for!
@wva5089 Жыл бұрын
Yep. what they said ^ .. shed content is just fine by me.
@realplastbox2 жыл бұрын
Take this however you like, but the complexity of what you build is a tiny part of what makes your videos so entertaining. Overhaul a lawnmower, build a shed.. we'll all watch, laugh, and even learn a bit. Thanks!

Glad you're back! As an idea for new videos - plastic for 3D printer from bottles, I'm sure you can get creative with such a mechanism, without any fancy microcontrollers and stuff like that, and it's definitely stronger than pla plastic!

I would love to see something weird and big made from “poor man’s fiberglass” which is just cotton fabric over cardboard using wood glue. Once painted it can look just like fiberglass. I’ve seen some cool enclosures, I’d love to see a dinosaur with animatronic jaw, or a giant musical fish

Boy do I understand where you're coming from. My Jacquard Loom video was my first video, and for years each of my subsequent videos under preformed that video. lol. I do think video performance is unpredictable at best. So trying to pick a project in order to drive views might help some, but isn't a guarantee of great performance, and makes it harder for you personally. I think just build whatever you're excited to build and and let the chips fall where they may. You're clearly exited to build both complex and simple projects. If you're exited about the build then folks will want to watch/share your excitement success or failure/simple or complicated. I think long term it's more about personality and storytelling than it is about build complexity. Sure I was impressed at how far you went with the Tig 3D printer. A build I'd think twice before taking on, but I also have enjoyed watching you cobble together diffusion pumps and seeing what worked and what didn't. I enjoy hearing you grouse about the issues as you move though the projects, seeing what worked and what didn't. To me that's the best part. I'm always happy to see when you have a new video out.

Oh my god! Yesss! Its like when I redo my notes I write them down all over in a good handwriting. Its kinda draining to do and it takes double the time to redo. Its just the same anyways. I write down important facts and I understand my handwriting. I agree that youtube is becoming a very competitive site lately. Watching channels just make stuff and complete a failed project all the time makes me feel useless when I don't complete mine and then leads me to think that I want to give up. People like me or those who can relate to me are so blessed to have your channel. Thank You! I Love You

The content you enjoy making is the content we enjoy watching, in the end it's not entirely all about the projects but also about you bringing them to life. Keep it up man, seeing the notification of your new video cheered me up and you never disappoint. Regarding suggestions for your videos: you already have access to high power lasers, how about a metal powder 3d printer? Maybe using recycled milling shavings or something not as expensive and fancy as specific powder

The fact that you have projects fail/break on you all the time, but you don't let that break you. I admire how you can pick yourself back up so easy and get back to work wish I had half the focus you have. Trust me I also understand after doing large projects it feels like you burn yourself out a bit and it takes a bit of recovering to get back into the mood set.

You mentioned wanting to build a shed. Take us along for that build. You're just such a fun person to hang out with no matter what you're doing. Good to see ya, I was getting to wonder why you disappeared. Per your request for ideas: Make a coffee cup that senses threats, screams, and tries to avoid getting tipped by its clumsy owner. As a small channel I can totally relate to this, You tube has made it very hard for smaller channels especially if they are not intended for a broader audience. If they don't match some magic views - watch time they just don't push a video out past the subscriber base. So you make fancy videos with hope it will be the one, you put more time and effort into the project and edit each time and then you have stopped making the videos you started out wanting to make and end up making ones that you think will get more views, but they are not what you want.

Wood bucks for sheet metal forming? Looks like they're exploding. Use oak. The compression and tensile strength is leaps and bounds higher than pine. The crazy amount of machine tool weight I have set on oak is awesome. I have used oak to span heavy weldments for straightening on large straightening presses.

You nailed it with the never ending treadmill that is KZbin… I think the idea of never ending video production for maker channels is not fare. It’s fine for vloggers but if you are filming projects that you are actually building unless you have a book of ideas for years ahead it’s really hard to keep the Algorithm happy.

I feel like there's a scale from StuffMadeHere to Matthias Wandel. I love StuffMadeHere videos but his projects have gotten so complex he only puts out a couple videos a year. I regularly forget the channel even exists, because it gets so little mindshare. On the other end is Matthias Wandel who has almost 2M subscribers watching him do random woodworking projects. The complexity of his projects is super flat over time, but people watch him because they like his personality and enjoy watching and learning from his process, even though it's rarely "exciting". This channel could lean quite a bit more into the Wandel end of the spectrum and you'd do great. The occasional crazy project helps pull people in and proves how big your brain is, but the returning viewers will watch and share your videos because you're so damned entertaining no matter what you're doing. tl;dr 👍👍👍
